  1. Basically its one and only RC - there's no change in body. It does look more angular but thats because of the heavy lighting. If you're leasing and need to offload the A5, I wouldn't bother waiting as it won't make a difference in price. If you're a private buyer and don't need to get rid of the A5 until when you want to, then I would probably hold out for the facelift. Same discounts as currently would apply i.e. £3-4k off new
  2. I believe its called Sods Law...
  3. I have a few friends who work in bodyshops and insurance repair business. And yes, they do have different prices depending on if its a private customer or an insurance job. With private customers, they tend to repair as much as possible. With insurance jobs - they prefer to replace as its more profitable for them.
  4. If accelerating it can go up to 30mph but its a royal pain to do that - so slow! As Colin said though, if accelerating over that speed the engine will come on and then once up to speed, it would go to EV at around 50mph. I believe the 4RX, LC and new LS can go up to 70+mph.
  5. Technically, there's 3 versions of the IS300h though. The first was between 2013-2015 and then 2015-2017 (Autotrader showing this up) where the engine and gearbox were tweaked a bit resulting in lower emissions and more fuel economy. And then, we recently had the facelift after 2017MY
  6. Send me the private reg and the original reg too and I shall take a look as well. The more the merrier. Usually, if a car has a private plate and then the private plate is taken off, the original plate would go back onto the car along with all the details. Although there is no lag time in DVLA databases for this, there could well be a lag time in the online search system.
  7. Tbh I find it fine. It's pretty simple to use. The main problem is that it's different and in an era where everyone is using rotary controllers, it takes some getting used to and some reading of the manual is required. Additionally, the menus are OK as well for me. Once you use the car you get used to where everything is very quickly. I find the system less complicated than Mercs command which I find awkward sometimes. For me, the satnav has been fine unless in city centres where it gives some odd commands but other than that I'm fairly pleased with it. Lexus were the first to offer wireless phone charging in a car and a huge 12" screen so I wouldn't say they're behind as such. Remember that these things come standard whereas Audi will charge £££ for a digital screen behind the steering wheel
  8. Yes, 2016-2017 RX350. Its because of the engine difference but the part itself is the same Ive taken a look at another link of the same item. It appears that they just send the whole plastic piece with the sill cover already inside. It should fit though https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-RX350-2016-2017-OEM-Genuine-Stainless-ILLUMINATED-DOOR-SILLS-Black/111822580432?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49138%26meid%3D316460a80bac4e7baa71eeec9c37d410%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D331835600067&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m2219
  9. They both have different characteristics The F-Sport has harder suspension but goes around corners better - doesn't lean as much. The Premier leans a lot more but doesn't have as harsh a ride. You'll struggle to get a Premier or an F-Sport for 20k unless they have 75k+ miles on them
  10. The blue illuminated ones are for the 3rd Gen RX on ebay and won't fit a 4th gen RX as the sill covers are in different places and are a different shape. The 4RX has rectangular shaped covers whereas the 3RX has a trapezoidal shape https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-OEM-Factory-Illuminated-Door-Sills-2pc-set-2016-17-RX350-PT944-48160-20/331835600067?hash=item4d42f16cc3:g:Sn8AAOSwKfVXFkeQ#shpCntId Ships from US and is cheaper but its white light. And no, Lexus dont sell the translucent plate
  11. Simple answer is yes. Cosmetic changes mainly to bumpers, lights and grills. Interior will get the IS facelift style centre console which is inset rather than outset and of course, the 10" screen. Apart from that, not much going to change.
  12. Why would Lexus fail LED sidelights then if they look white? They wouldn't just do it for the sake of it. Blue ones are pretty easy to spot but if you take a look on nearly all the car forums - MOT examiners regularly fail sidelights than are white in colour with no blue tint
  13. I know the difference between legal aspects and the MOT. Many LED sidelights do fail their MOT and the reason they put down is "Incorrect colour" or something along the lines of that. The machines tend to show the light output as blue despite the LED looking white to the eye and you won't even notice a blue tinge. Some bulbs may get away with it, most don't as plenty of modded used cars (particularly of the VW Golf and Audi A3) etc seem to have come up with these failure reasons on MOT. I wouldn't doubt that some centres put down that the headlight adjustment is incorrect if using LED bulbs as the dipped beam. "It might well be illegal in the eyes of the law but MOT isn't the law" The above statement doesn't make sense - if the MOT is failed, you're breaking the law and you're not insured..... albeit for a brief period of time.
  14. I know that's how the insurance companies work things out. But, the method is hugely flawed. A driver that is not at fault is certainly no more likely to make a claim than someone who's never made a claim. Its stupid - if someone goes into the back of you at traffic lights, how does that make you more likely to claim next time?! The premium should ultimately go up for the drivers at fault. Currently, it seems that non fault incidents make premiums go up by x and fault incident by y. IMO x+y need to be stuck onto the premium of the driver at fault rather than making innocent drivers pay
  15. Kia offer 7 years because they need something to actually entice buyers as the cars themselves aren't desirable or great to drive. Of course there is the odd exception like the Stinger but then you're paying handsome money for it.
  16. Essential service is cheaper yes. Whether they stamp the book or not depends on the dealer but they do give a certificate if not. Most dealers just tend to stamp the book because its easier and then just write "Essential Service" underneath the stamp
  17. Agree with you Linas. The UK insurance system is stupid and certainly has a culture of making money using any excuse they can. I might set up a petition on change.org to change the insurance system in this regard. The costs should rise for the ones at fault and insurance companies should need to be more transparent on the way they increase the renewal premiums i.e. if the IPT has gone up by 0.5% or so, then it should give you a breakdown of what that was and thats why your insurance went up by £20 or whatever. I also think the Government needs to come up with some form of state insurance system which would be an income for them, yet keep the costs down for customers (or thats the theory anyway) In my line of work where I need indemnity insurance, the defense union has had to cut its prices by 50% - and that equates to thousands of pounds per customer because the government said they were going to bring out State medical defense insurance.
  18. Super unleaded won't make a difference on these vehicles which are designed to run on regular. It will most certainly be a placebo or some form of rationalisation Stick regular in a Ferrari and it probably wont like it
  19. A few have but not many. I find it quite ironic how people buy a Lexus by factoring in the amazing reliability and then shell out for the warranty on such a new vehicle. Ours is 4 years old, granted its only got 15k miles on it but its been bulletproof so far.
  20. Interesting views - but I dont really rationalise purchases If I want it and like it, I usually just buy it without looking back - so I guess thats my rationalisation.
  21. Robert has already said that the failure was due to the sidelight being an LED - the colour has nothing to do with it. If a car has an LED light in the main headlight housing and didn't come with it from the factory, regardless of colour, it will fail if the MOT examiner spots it. The dipped beam would not pass MOT if done by a competent MOT examiner if it was an LED aftermarket bulb I dont think you understand the law - the bottom line is that any LED aftermarket bulb facing oncoming traffic in the main headlight housing is illegal simply because the beam pattern is different and the bulbs are not approved for road use. If there is ANY doubt - the inspector would need to get in contact with someone superior - not just pass it off. For your information - aftermarket LED DRLs are also illegal unless they have the RL mark which means they have been tested for their beam pattern and brightness. Also, if you get pulled over after an MOT, it'd be for something other than what the MOT looks at otherwise the examiner/centre is in trouble.
  22. Because as I mentioned already, any LED lights fitted as an aftermarket upgrade which is facing oncoming traffic is illegal. The reason for this is because LED lights are brighter and have a different pattern of light compared to conventional halogen bulbs. The LED aftermarket bulbs are not tested and certainly not approved for UK road use and hence why they would be MOT fails. Robert has clearly outlined this in his experience here :
  23. I'd try to get them to change the battery.
  24. Yes it's to stop wipers sticking. Useless for anything else.
  25. The main changes are cosmetic. The suspension was made slightly less hard but only slightly. The power train itself is exactly the same. The only difference is the CVT which has been tuned to be more linear when picking up speed Interior was mainly steering wheel change and centre screen was made slimmer. Personally I think the post facelift is worth it for the looks alone. But its not much different inside to the pre facelift and powertrain is the same
