Wing mirrors stopped working
rayaans replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
It's very very odd. Reason I say that is these issues are extremely rare and shouldn't be happening at all. Parking sensors especially are simple things. Wing mirrors also. Did you buy from a Lexus dealer? -

Sounds like you'd hit nice. Nothing will work at that point. Took the Golf out with winter tyres when it was throwing it down. It was 8pm and -1 degrees outside It's got winter tyres as I couldn't be bothered changing them when we bought it Anyway, at 70mph on a dual carriageway near scarborough, the traction control light flashed continuously for 5-10 seconds and the steering wheel did absolutely nothing. A bend was approaching quick but it found grip by then. In ice, nothing works bar spikes. -
It's all listed on the Lexus website in the servicing section.

Wing mirrors stopped working

Somethings not right. This particular car seems to have a lot of electrical gremlins. Id be inclined to send it back tbh - first parking sensors and now this - me thinks someone's been messing with the electrics. -
Many modern engines require fully synthetic oil. For the IS300H I presume fully synthetic is recommended as the thinner oil and better consistency is for improved fuel economy. Personally I wouldn't use semi synthetic oil. It would probably any kind of warranty on the engine.

That's not true though is it? Different cars handle differently in snow. Yes tyres will make a difference but with tyres being of the same kind it'll still be different. I used to run a 10 year old Merc C220 in winter. It had narrow 205/55 r16 tyres and barely any weight over the rear axle. On summer tyres was a nightmare and I would switch to part worn winters because all the money I had went into building a house. Or I would stick heavy weights in the boot of the car like 2x25kg bags of sand. The IS is genuinely fine on oem bridgestones in winter that I feel no need to change. The RX is even better probably because it's primary FWD and very heavy -

Dental floss and a hairdryer should work. Use some glue remover and a light polish afterwards -
The dash is leather or synthetic. The glove box is plastic and similiar to the one in the IS so probably the same as in the RC but it doesn't tend to scuff as easily. Ive tried dressings both silicone and water based and the silicone one tends to mask it better. I then wipe it down with an MF so it's not shiny. I used autosmart highstyle so presume something like Meguiars endurance gel for tyres would also work just as well. Only problem with Silicone loaded ones are that they attract dust. I've got fed up with one scuff in the IS glove box (the only one which makes it worse) and tbh I don't tend to use any dressings on it because it doesn't make a huge lot of difference. I've found damp MF helps to keep the dash matt rather than shiny or with a sheen and it lifts dirt well enough.

That's fair enough. Problem with ebay is there's load of fakes running about. Anything branded is likely to be fake if not from an approved seller. The Lexus price can probably be negotiated for the oil - they give decent discounts Lexus don't tend to find work. That's just BMW, Audi and Merc. Merc said I need to replace an intercooler when a pipe was blocked for £1k. I changed the pipe for £80

Fine in snow. Any car in ice is going to be problematic. -

Cost cutting is the answer. I'm pretty sure not adding those lights made a huge difference to stop them from putting them in. The RX has them. No snow button as I believe eco works in the same/similiar way. The RX no longer has it either -
Price isn't too bad for a main dealer. Toyota motor oil is made by exxon mobil. Their 0w-20 oil for 5l would retail for £60. Even ecp sell their triple qx oil 0w20 for £51 for 5l

0W20 of whatever good brand. Don't go for anything else

1) yes I would presume they would cover it under warranty up to 10 years 2) yes once the hybrid battery warranty from the health check is over you would have to pay the costs. This is unless you opt for extended warranty before 10 years old as Lexus dealers will keep rolling it over year on year if you first took it out before 10 years of age. 3) There are many RX450Hs that have sold and as of yet, I don't think any have had hybrid system issues. They are bulletproof. 1) there is no difference issues an tyre size between luxury, advance, F sport or premier spec. They are all running on 235/55 r19 4) Few reasons. The tyres I wanted Lexus didn't supply. These were michelin latitude tour Hp. Also it was cheaper by £200 to get my own tyres and have them fit rather than getting the oem tyres from them. I didn't want scratches on the rim either. Lexus use the automated tyre fitting machines with no metal touch points. I believe £50 was an offer price. I think they usually charge £100 for 4 tyres fitting TPMS wasn't on my F Sport as it was an early 2012 car. I believe TPMS became standard afterwards.

You don't need anything more than a damp Microfibre for the dash. For the seats I use Dodo Juice supernatural leather cleaner and sealant kit. I'm not surprised autoglym leather cleaner didn't work well, it's a weak leather cleaner and more suited for monthly maintenance. I cba and rather do it once a year with a stronger product but admittedly, red seats don't get as bad as white ones. The best way to keep dye stains away is sealing the leather and it's much easier to clean off. The problem with dye is its dye. It's designed to dye things so if left on for too long it'll be permanent.

Which to choose

I believe you now only get a quick user guide but no sat nav guide or full thick user manual so don't be alarmed if it's not there. -
I've owned every generation of RX bar the 1st so will try my best to answer your questions. 1) the dead battery affected the 2nd gen RX400h as it had a small battery. The 3RX appears to be unaffected. I left my 2012 RX F Sport garaged with the alarm on for 4 weeks frequently with no issue. 2) The 12 month warranty covers everything bar wear and tear. You can also exchange the car up to 30 days/1000 miles whichever is first if you're not happy. Tyres should be changed if they are under 6mm and the car should be serviced if it is due a service within the next 6 months. 3) The vehicle does not need to be serviced by Lexus. Anyone can service it. However, you would need a separate hybrid health check if servicing independently costing £59 to give you 1 more year of hybrid warranty. If you opt for extended warranty, you can only service it by Lexus. When servicing by Lexus they include the hybrid health check FOC I bought my 3RX new. It cost me £190 for 1st service, then I took a service plan for 2 full and 1 intermediate costing £990 and then £245 over 5 years. The price has recently changed last year and is now fixed. It can be found on the Lexus Website. I paid an additional £27 for half price MOT at Lexus due to having service plan. I had no other costs during this time bar wipers which I bought myself and tyres at 26k which I bought and got Lexus yo fit all 4 for £50 total 4) Seems a fair price and it's low mileage. The 60k service is an expensive one but it's miles away. Don't let the dealer talk you into getting a 60k service done at 6 years as they change the spark plugs which are mileage dependent, not time dependent. Worth remembering that the cars are priced on condition and desperate need to sell, how long it's been lying on the lot and tax breaks for the dealership. It's highly likely that a well priced one needs shifting quicker than one priced a bit over expected I would expect you to negotiate £500-750. You may be lucky at this time of year and get £1000. Don't expect any more. For the GS don't expect anything more than Autotrader valuation p/x price. The GS will be flung through auction so won't make much profit for them. 6) it's a petrol hybrid so will be undeniably reliable at those mileages which a diesel would get choked on. Having said that don't expect great fuel economy. I would imagine 25-30mpg which considering the engine and weight of the vehicle isnt bad at all.

NX F-Sport vs Sport

Probably were the bridgestones. I have them on my RX. Crap is all I can say. No grip and loud
