  1. Shouldn't affect the warranty claim but the sensor is on the windscreen next to the mirror mount housing so if its not sat properly or the screen is not reflecting properly, then it won't work as it should.
  2. Yes thats not bad at all Have to say I usually take my car to Lexus for Tyre fitting and MOT. £27 for MOT and £10+VAT for tyre fitting - and they got those new fancy machines which means there's no monkey with a crowbar near the wheels! Its fascinating to watch - they just put the wheel on with the tyre partly on and it does its thing!
  3. It started happening on my RX300 after the windscreen was changed - they were never the same after that.
  4. Should be able to get Uniroyal in that size - they're very cheap but the performance is epic - leaves a 6 ft high water stream behind the car on the motorway
  5. Yep everyone is at it at the moment. The deals tend to suck as well - they're nothing better than what you could get on any other day - just has a lot of marketing behind it to get people into the showrooms in the first place.
  6. Not sure as I havent removed it but I suspect its pretty easy. It probably just pulls out once the subwoofer has been disconnected and the rear seats put flat.
  7. Cant buy 200t on any of the Lexus range anymore. Besides, surely its not £1200 - isnt that just for the first year?
  8. Yes, its pretty much the norm. They can't physically put the sheet in and doing it properly without taking the parcel shelf off
  9. Not had any water or snow get into the IS boot yet. But the dripping water when opening the door is actually really common although only confined to vehicles which don't have a plastic drain strip on the roof. Sons MK5 Golf does it too and that doesn't have the water drain strips either.
  10. Nothing too concerning on MOT Also needs someone to properly check it underneath because if MOT was done at Kwik Fit or Halfords, a tiny bit of rust would be classed as corrosion as they love writing up advisories to back themselves up
  11. Just ask for it yes. It costs them less than £30 to do so they'll do it rather than lose a sale because of it
  12. An update regarding this - My son's MK5 Golf was in for service today at the local indy. I know him since he was working as an apprentice at another garage back in 2001! Anyway, as I bought the car for him last year and was supposedly serviced by the independent dealer, I thought we'd give it a year and get a full service done. Had the oil changed to Quantum Longlife, air filter, oil filter and fuel filter. Brake discs and pads around back were corroding so had them replaced too - all OEM. He checked the spark plugs and changed them to OEM as well as someone had put in some fakes which had almost self combusted!
  13. The RX in the UK does have the touchless tailgate - you just put your arm, hand, head whatever near the top part of the badge and it opens
  14. As a first car, something not too small that they crush him in if crashed i.e Aygo, 108 etc Maybe something a little larger like a Polo, Corsa or Fiesta - check the insurance beforehand - Polo was cheaper for my son than the others on insurance Was about £2500 from an auction - sold it for £2300 a year later and bought a Golf for £3400 which according to the valuation sites has gone up in value by £200 wth lol Insurance on any Lexus is going to be daft so don't bother - was about £2000 on an CT200h which is actually slower than a Golf 1.4 TSI
  15. Well thats BS for a start My RX450h has 17 years on it And my IS300h has 14 years on it. And I have an Admiral Multicar policy..... with both policies in my name, my wife being the main driver on the IS300h and myself the main driver on the RX. But yes, you do have to build them up and transfer them across each time you move insurers. For example, I was with LV 5 years ago and had 11 years on the RX. When I moved to Admiral I transferred this across to them so they gave me 12 years on renewal My wife was with Chaucer direct with 8 years. Again, I transferred this across to Admiral multicar and we're now on 14 years.
  16. Had it on son's Golf seals when I bought it. I used APC in a spray with a detailing brush. It took a while but got rid of it. If you're having no luck with a detailing brush, use a new toothbrush - not a calcified old one!
  17. Quality job according to who? If a monkey has 17 years being a monkey, its not going to become human. Likewise, if a bad repairer keeps practising bad repairs for 17 years then he's not an expert. Ask for it to be perfect I.E how it was before the repair - that's the whole point. Can you take a picture of the whole rear end so we can compare both sides?
  18. Whats your plan with regard to servicing the RC-F? Stretch the intervals or just get it serviced annually?
  19. Yes its only a matter of time before it gets put into the MOT once these things become more popular I dont know whether there will be much difference to the noise. Turbocharging will help to a degree - the question is whether they will use a tuned version of the 3.5l Twin Turbo V6 used in the LS500 or a smaller displacement turbo V8
  20. Why would they reduce the power lol. Apparently most cars are now going to be fit with GPF. Luckily it won't clog and is cheap to replace. However, I think Lexus detuned the RCF because even with the GPF fitted it still produced too many particles. https://www.greencarguide.co.uk/features/gasoline-particulate-filter-gpf/
  21. Officially been released today. No visual changes. Just interior change with updated screen and spec change. All models now get premium nav But prices have increased. RCF now has a plus pack option which is between RCF and RCF carbon
  22. Well I meant that some people get really low quotes from Adrian Flux and tend to love them But the majority seem to get quotes that are nigh on extortion I was told £4k for my RX - I mean seriously? Admiral was £650. Adrian Flux are extremely picky on who they insure
  23. Nah I got it wrong - you're right Aristo is the equivalent so if you find parts for that then you should be OK. Shame powerflex dont make the bushes Superpro do though apparently.
  24. Only ever used them once when it was really hot but it doesn't get that hot round here so I dont think I would mind
