  1. TBH I didnt feel much of anything. It almost felt like the car had stalled and the associated jerk with it. Suppose at the end of the day it is basically a 2 tonne vehicle. I didn't look at the protection plate, my car literally went around the back of Lexus Leeds and 2 hours later came back out nice and clean! Ive informed insurers LV, theyve taken everything down and confirmed the car is insured. I just need to provide them with details of the garage I am taking it to for repairs and they will co-ordinate everything Was also offered a hire vehicle straight away which I dont need but it seemed like they were trying to push for me to take it
  2. That's true. The pedestrian, youngish lady was directly in front of me at moment of impact so I suspect she would have gone flying. I think he was going around 40mph, did look like he was on the phone tbh as it was in his hand on exiting his car and also had a cig in his mouth
  3. So been relatively stress free motoring as expected, had the anti theft protection plate fitted by Lexus Leeds and 4 days later...... Pedestrian crossing and a lady was walking past so Im stationery. Next thing you know a Golf is buried into my rear bumper. Thankfully the car is insured but the driver was a dodgy character. Seems all our cars are getting new bumpers over the past few years
  4. Generally speaking if changing to all season or winter tyres you should really change all four. With the RX it is a square setup - what you could do is change the wheels over front to back and when they all wear to around 3mm get them all swapped for all seasons
  5. fronts go first usually at around 15-18k miles. Rears lasted about 40k on mine
  6. The 350h has about 50hp more than the NX300h and there's not much weight difference between the NX300h and the RX350h
  7. This is very dependent on driving style and journeys. Having driven a few UXs as loaners in short trips anything between 35-37mpg at a sedate pace but normal driving. On a motorway run I got 43mpg albeit at 75mph steady cruise
  8. Wheel bearing is covered under warranty up to 160km some dealerships make you sign a form for "diagnosis" in the event that its not the bearing causing the issue but dont actually charge it upfront, this is usually charged afterwards if say it was a tyre issue for example
  9. It might just need an interior dressing - natural look dressing is best, something like detailed online natural dressing. Can dilute it down to get a matt finish and apply with a microfibre and buff it down. If its actual scratches then you won't be able to remove them unfortunately without a professional repair.
  10. TBH the radar cruise control on the lowest settings in the UX and RX seem to get a lot closer than the VW does. The Golf has been leaving quite big gaps on lowest setting which tempts people too readily to get in the lane and cause it to drop further. Haven't really had that much of an issue with the Lexus adaptive cruise
  11. It sounds like you're doing the steps correctly. Press the cruise button to activate the system and the radar ready / green light will come on Then whilst on the motorway hit the -set button and it should continue at that speed. Obviously ensure you're not pressing the brake at this point It does genuinely work anywhere. I use it a lot in town to be honest
  12. Ideally needs good protection like a ceramic coating to prevent any damage. It's unlikely to happen anyway as it's fairly well protected by the clear coat
  13. Unfortunately I don't have mine any longer. I sold the old unit on eBay for like £300. Someone obviously wanted it in faulty condition for that sum so I suspect they might have known how to fix it.
  14. I mean its probably do-able The question is how long it would take and what to do in the meantime. I suspect these things probably take a few years? I ended up in court for speeding and it was 12 months after the actual incident! The other problem is that nobody seems confident in testing / repair. I also tried to find a few radio repair shops and unfortunately they all said that they weren't sure or gave ridiculous quotations. In the end I ended up buying a second hand unit for £450 and it worked. The car remains in my family and its still working fine.
  15. Its not a "known issue" though. There isnt a TSB or anything like that. On the forums we seem to know about it as we discuss it but its unlikely Lexus have had a massive influx of these units going kaput compared to the number of cars on the road, especially when its only caused when the battery is replaced, and only if the battery is replaced without a memory saver
  16. Since reading this thread I have written to Lexus customer services and they have sent out a "protection kit" as they call it to my local dealer, Lexus Leeds who will be fitting later in the month These kits seem to be distributed around the London area mainly but you can get one if you relay your concerns to Lexus UK despite not being anywhere near London
  17. Lexus dont replace anything. They just use get another unit and then send the other one for repair / analysis probably. I think the problem is that these cars are having battery changes at 7-10 years old. Warranty wont cover it even if fully serviced by Lexus and because it only seems to affect the 2013/14 models, and not all of them its unlikely they'll replace for free
  18. Just to add to this. Please email Lexus UK customer support as this appears to be a running issue with these 2013/14 models. They are quite happy to help and offered a replacement for £500 which in the grand scheme of things is not that much compared to the retail price of these units.
  19. Do the mirrors fold in when the fold button is pressed? I did this once on my 3rd gen RX. I think the auto button has to be lit up and the others have to be unlit.
  20. 530e is coming in October. Limited line up at the moment. Likely to be the best seller in the range. There was only one sunroof option on the G30 saloon. Driving assistant on the BMWs are quite an expensive option Sales of most cars decrease towards the end of their lifecycle.
  21. I disagree. I own the Merc and can categorically say it has poor plastics in certain areas. It's not as solidly built and squeaks. Spend some time on the Merc forum and you'll notice what everyone says. Mercs generally do creak a lot more. The previous gen 5 series has plastic hexagonal cheap trim as well. The window switches are surrounded by cheap plastic. The facelift is better. An ES is put together better than a 5 series and I can show you some videos to prove it. Nox issues are not diesel related. Merc petrol engines have Nox sensors too. How do I know? Yep I had to replace one with a 6 month wait on back order
  22. You do realise that the first 2 pages of this thread with your comments had absolutely no balance and basically reads Lexus ES is **** right? I really do suggest you read through it again. Like I said, no positives at all and certainly not balanced. Now you keep talking about the ES plastics but fail to mention 5 series / E Class interior squeaks and creaks, the NOX and adblue issues etc. Btw you can't even get a 540i since 2019 anyway so why are you comparing that to an ES300h?
  23. My response was evoked by the fact you simply have no balanced arguments. All negatives all the time. Atleast the forum would be more enjoyable if you said something vaguely balanced rather than constant negative drivel
  24. And you'll have to cope with me. I disagree with your opinions, I believe most of the time they're rubbish, unhelpful and I'll call you up on them. Again, you can't stop me from doing that either.
  25. There's nothing personal here. I could ask you the same thing, why do you care?
