What would you like to improve to your car?
rayaans replied to dutchie01's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I dont agree with this. The traction is pretty epic - you can't get the car to slip no matter what unless you turn everything off - and even then, just a tad of slip. -
First used LC's at discounted prices
rayaans replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Yep, saw the Leicester one a while back - not a bad little discount for a car with 1000 miles on. Wait till they have 5-10k on, they'll be around the £55k mark - or so I think anyway -
Repair bill
rayaans replied to Friso's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
You can choose any repair centre you like, even if you go through the insurer but you may have to pay a "non-approved repairer" excess which is usually around £250 on top of the excess you already have. The front underrun is £500-700 alone as the black plastic bumper surround would also need changing as they come as 1 piece. Ultimately the total cost will depend on whether it is repaired or replaced. Personally, I would want it replaced so would be circa £3-5k. If repairing, shouldn't really be more than £1-2k -
RX400H Light braking
rayaans replied to welland's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Mine works differently - goes into charge when braking at first, then at the last stage of braking it goes back up to the mid point - or the 0 depending on which vehicle you have -
It's not because of the RXL. It's mainly to do with the new 18 plate and new car sales slowing down due to the £450 a year road tax on these. The local dealer is probably the last place you want to go to buy a car unless it's brand new. They'll try to up sell you into a new one. Get on the net and find the exact car you want somewhere else. A 12 month old one should be around £44-47k. They won't be giving that much of a discount on new. The max is around £7k at the moment off list.

RX400H Light braking
rayaans replied to welland's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
It goes below 0 and into the blue bit when on regen. As it switches to mechanical brakes, it'll move back up to 0. The regen kick in first in light braking unless at low speed. The mechanical brakes come on under heavy braking and just before the end of a stop. You can test it by doing an emergency stop. It'll force the mechanical brakes to come on immediately -
Ah you're missing out on the good life I suppose. Luckily my fingers don't get too dirty as I tend to use the touchless badge on the RX to open the boot so the red leather remains grub free. However, always handy keeping a stash of baby wipes in the boot for those odd occasions where you have to deal with the chore of pressing a filthy button.

All year round tyres
rayaans replied to kellogsj's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Or you can also go for 255/35 r18 to get the same sidewall size on front and rear And its a hugely common size used on Merc and BMW as well as the 3rd gen IS (incidentally the front tyre size for the 2IS and 3IS are the same) -
Groaning suspension
rayaans replied to First_Lexus's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
You're not having great luck are you! Lexus quality is generally impeccable - worth remembering that Merc actually uses Lexus as a benchmark for quality and are astounded at how things are done at Lexus. Groaning and Creaking would make me think upper suspension mounts but surely not on a car that 1 year old. I dont think anyone has even had an issue with suspension on the NX. I swear you've bought a friday evening car.... -

rayaans replied to dutchie01's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I dont mind the indicators but ultimately prefer a more mechanical feeling. I guess its similiar to having a manual and an automatic I guess. The trick with the indicators is simply modulating how hard you push on them and once you've done it enough, it works fine including manual cancelling. BMW have recently gone to these one touch indicators and its a 50/50 mix on preferences. I guess they now have an excuse for not using them.... What would I like to improve - not sure really. The car is generally great. I dont have any major issues with the nav or infotainment system either. Im probably used to it over having different Lexus vehicles so just know where everything is. I guess having a paintcode for the F-Sport alloys would be an improvement though - its a pain having to get the colour matched! Cheaper servicing would be welcome too as the price is genuinely extortionate -
Yes, there is a difference. The 4RX has 308hp whereas the 3RX has 295hp. That doesn't sound like much but the real difference is due to the increased 3.5l V6 engine output which is available all the time. The motors remain the same but the vehicle feels stronger than the 3RX in almost every situation because of the extra power from the engine itself. Weight hasn't increased at all due to use of aluminium on certain panels as well. Probably helps that there has been some tuning to the e-cvt to make it more urgent. The 3RX felt a bit lazy in comparison

Time for a replacement battery?
rayaans replied to Toothy's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Generally, the Lexus batteries tend to go around 8 years. Mine certainly did, had to get the AA out because it literally just went overnight. Batteries are like tyres, go for the best one you can afford - and a big capacity one at that. Car Parts 4 Less are cheaper than ECP for batteries and currently have 16% sale on which makes the batteries about £10-20 cheaper than ECP. Copy and paste the product code over from ECP into CP4L and use topcashback/quidco for 3% back. Ive had good experiences with Varta and they are better value than Bosch with better CCAs and Ah -
Ive always found the best time to change is near the end of the quarter. December deals are pretty good but you can get some good deals during the summer when everyone is spending more time on holiday etc and less on cars

About 10-15 years ago, when Lexus recalled cars, they used to hand over a bottle of champagne for the inconvenience. Now, they've changed that policy and refuel instead - go with a full tank, you don't get anything! Im not sure either - maybe it was the dealers sending them out rather than Lexus UK themselves

I again have no issues with the heated seats. Mine get warm quickly, not as quick as in the 4RX but quicker than 3RX. I think the suspension on the F Sport is quite comfy tbh. I've driven the Premier and despite having softer suspension, there wasn't a massive difference in ride. My boot only pops. It won't open all the way unlike other brands so don't find it a safety issue -
Ours is a 63 plate registered in September so also an early one hut never got a letter

RX400H Light braking
rayaans replied to welland's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Sounds somewhat normal for the 400h which has an older regenerative braking system. Common complaints are difficulty braking smoothly and difficulty in assessing how hard to brake, sometimes stopping quicker than expected and being 1m in front of a traffic light marking line for example. Most people get used to it but yes, sometimes the brakes can be difficult to modulate in earlier hybrids Having said that, if you've changed pads or discs recently, could be them - or brake fluid thats getting old. -
Another accident
rayaans replied to jackcramerr's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
First of all, shouldn't have collected the car, just leave it there and declare its not the same as it was before. Secondly, you need to get in contact with Lexus UK to sort this out if they've not done anything. Or Autoexpress might be a shout. -
All year round tyres
rayaans replied to kellogsj's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Do you want a good all round tyre or a good "all year" round tyre? They aren't the same thing. Uniroyal Rainsport 3'S are good value, certainly cheaper compared to the premium brands but worth remembering that they are performance tyres and hence wear quite quickly. Same with Goodyear Eagles. -
10th Edition Cars in showroom - video

I dont mind the Matt paint - looks pretty good IMHO. Just not sure about the RC-F having the lower portion of the rear bumper and sideskirt black. Never been a fan of black wheels either.
