I find insurance companies all hit and miss. Always depends on whos on the other side of the phone, and how reasonable they are!
-
When they say collaborating, what they really mean is that Toyota build the thing and then use BMWs 3.0l straight six pushing out 450hp. Or thats what it was supposed to be initially anyway! Would be interesting to see the reliability of them

New guy looking to purchase an IS 300h

Worth bearing in mind that some of the above issues are easily rectified or prevented. Air con shouldn't be stinking unless it's not being used often enough. These AC systems need to be on all the time. Tyre noise is relative and dependent on tyres. There is some tyre roar but it's not obtrusive and certainly no more than in a BMW 320d or other car in this class. Economy is also dependent on driving style and trip distances. Motorway runs can see you around 50-55 mpg sometimes. Short town trips and it'll barely get over 20-30mpg but thats not exclusive to the IS -
For the 3RX in 235/55 r19 tyre size, you've got a lot of options. I would go for the Goodyear Vector 4 seasons SUV G2 all around. The Bridgestone's have a very short life but, the benefit is that they do grip fairly well and aren't loud etc. Ive gone for them again purely because the 4RX has a very awkward tyre size (235/55 r20) and there aren't many other options around. Luckily I only paid £178 each and Lexus Bradford charge £10+VAT for fitting which is a good £110 saving over getting it from them

I presume the fronts are Bridgestone Dueler H/L 33 or H/P Sport as these are the ones that Lexus tend to use. I currently have Bridgestone Dueler H/L 33 on the 4RX and had SP Sport 270 on the 3RX (factory fitted) The Dunlops are ******* and have poor grip on the front because they are a harder compound. On the rear, they should be fine as the vehicle is ultimately FWD with a bit of RWD assistance. Because the dunlops are a harder compound, they will last ages on the rear. I swapped all 4 to Michelin Latitude Tour HP on the 3RX when the car was at 26k miles. The rear dunlops still had 4-5mm left. The Bridgestones are very soft - my 4RX has done 16k miles and the front tyres are on 2mm so waiting for the delivery to arrive from Germany because Lexus want £250 each to change them. Bearing that in mind, I would say swap both rears for something you want to add to the front in the future, as it is likely the Bridgestones will be shot way before the rear ones even reach 6mm

RX-300 tyres
rayaans replied to m4rkw's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Goodyear Vector 4 seasons SUV G2 without a doubt in that size. Just make sure you change all 4 as they are all seasons. They are very very good tyres for the UK climate -

Ours is a 2013 model and its had no issues whatsoever. These things are amazingly reliable and as long as they have full Lexus service history and they're well maintained, they won't go wrong very often, or at all. You can keep them out of warranty without worrying unlike BMW etc -
Tyre Pressure Monitor MOT Fail

Where about's in Yorkshire are you?! Surely you can't be that far from Lexus Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Hull, Lincoln or even Stockport! Anyway, the Lexus TPMS sensors for the IS and RC (and probably all the later models) are made by Pacific and I believe the product number is PMV-107J They all need a relearn procedure or programming done to allow them to function. You can use other brands but it would need programming in using Techstream. I think the Lexus ones just need "relearning" but tyre shops should know which ones will/wont work -

If you like reading reviews, don't buy a Lexus for a start as reviewers don't like them for some reason. Ive driven the CLA and the A3 saloon and we own an IS300h so here goes. Driving - the IS300h handles better than all of them - main reason being its RWD. Interior quality - I would say the Audi wins here but the IS isn't far behind. CLA has shocking interior quality - renault grade plastics not worthy of the price tag ride quality - depends on spec but overall the IS is very good. CLA is rubbish, it rides like a flintstone car in the AMG sport trims and is still firm on comfort suspension. A3 is firm in S-Line trim but other trims are good. Reliability - no contest - Lexus wins. Audi second and CLA has very bad reliability - quite a lot of problems with them Compared to an IS220d its going to be a massive improvement. The IS220d is probably the worst vehicle Lexus has ever made bar the SC Performance - whilst the IS may have a relatively mild 0-62mph time, the in gear acceleration is very good due to instant torque from the electric motors. Drive one, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Its got faster in-gear acceleration compared to a BMW 320d -
IS 300h poor headlights.

I have no issues with the lights either and the country roads around here are very very dark. I find the high beams on any car will "appear" poor in a well lit up area. You could always just change the bulbs out for Osram Nightbreakers or Philips Xtremevision. Only problem with those is, you get flashed by everyone. -

And of course a few videos providing in person views of the exterior and interior: A video focusing on technical details: -
Im not liking the look of that paint - too much orange peel for my liking and possibly a repair The bumper is plastic, so I wouldnt expect rust from there which would suggest its coming from the rear wings. Any pictures of the full rear end? Should be replaced under warranty of course. The thing is, if its a used car - they won't know if its been in an accident or something unless its been taken through insurance - usually they HPI the vehicle to make sure and you should have a copy of this.
-
See thats where the problem lies. You should have told them you were moving and they probably would have refunded you £92 lol

The best place to get it is ECP or CP4L when their discounts come along, every weekend or end of month! It doesn't give a typical smooth finish but feels grabby - something to do with why it can bead how it does. You can mix 50/50 with a QD of your choice and you should retain the beading properties with more slickness if you prefer

New RC300h F Sport Black Edition
rayaans replied to Chafford1's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
I think its the lighting. The Graphite black has a lot of silver flake in it and does look very dark grey in sunlight Having said that, in the UK its probably not too much of an issue. -
White isF for Sale
rayaans replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
The blue one at £27k at a dealer - 13 plate has been around for ages but it has an IS300h F-Sport picture on it before. However it was also around £30k to begin with but has gone down slowly. Its very good value, providing its in good nick of course with the expected SH etc -
New RC300h F Sport Black Edition
rayaans replied to Chafford1's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Official pictures: Major issue I see with it is it just looks like a Black RC - its only inside where there is a difference and Im sure most wont even notice the orange stitching. -
Without getting into perceived feelings of speed and all that crap (with the intention of not starting another 300 style war with Linas.P) 50-70mph in an IS300h is exactly 4.2s as quoted by Autoexpress here: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/lexus/is/98664/lexus-is-vs-jaguar-xe

White isF for Sale
rayaans replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Very Very nice However. I would be inclined to say its overpriced. The red one on ebay is 2013 with 13k on the clock and is the same price.... Private sale mind you but still, I know which one I would choose! -
You can just fit the bushes. The only problem is mechanics don't like it because it's a pain and prefer just changing the whole arm. Lexus will fit new parts in most cases. They fit new tyres supplied by customer etc so I don't see why they won't do arms. You could always ask for a quote see how much they say or take to a decent indy
