Uneven tyre wear
rayaans replied to Paul86S2's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Yup looks like the edge has worn but it's odd that the inner edge looks somewhat normal but maybe it's the camera angle. I would say new tyres and 4 wheel alignment. Don't pay £80 for it though. Mine price match within 5 mile radius so I get it done at kwik fit prices lol -
If you don't know what you'd replace it with, and you like the car - probably worth keeping it to be honest.

Official Lexus UX at Geneva Motor Show
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Dont know why but the back reminds me of a Mazda 3 2nd gen. Still looks great though, especially compared to what it looks like now! Having said that, Im liking the UX - contemplating swapping my wife's IS for it. -
Yes, does it on my wife's IS. Haven't cleaned the seats on the RX yet as had no need to. I figured its coming from the perforations, not from the actual seat itself. Additionally, I also found its worse on wear areas and I believe this is because of the rubbing and its actually dirt that's coming off. Its only that when seats are black, the dirt comes off as black and just looks like dirt. By the way, I think the seats are semi-aniline so don't go cleaning them every month - deep clean once per year should be enough. Should mention that we've had the wife's car 3 years now and its not made any difference. I did have a chat to a few leather specialists when my father in laws car needed some work doing and they said it happens when the seats are new due to excess dye but it should stop after a few hits. As long as its not getting on clothes etc, then its OK

Uneven tyre wear
rayaans replied to Paul86S2's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
As far as I am aware, it is a characteristic of the vehicle similiar to the IS which does the same despite being aligned by Lexus (I did the alignment after they said it was out but it hasn't really changed anything) Ideally, alignment needs doing (if it really needs doing) when new tyres are fitted. However, alignment does NOT need to be done every time new tyres are fitted providing the car tracks straight and did not have excessive awkward wear before. The rear inners may be down to 4mm but what is the rest? if its 5mm in the middle and outer, I wouldnt worry about it. Motorway driving won't get you great MPG to be honest unless religiously sticking to 70mph. -
Yes I took a quick look on Tyreleader to see what was available. Yes, please let us know as I will probably do the same - unfortunately probably in about 1.5 years though as I still have loads of tread left. Original Bridgestones are like the Terminator

No idea what you've been reading but it must have been for a different model. The 2009-2015 RX has no major issues and Ive not heard of air suspension going on them as of yet. Of course, if you get the Lexus Extended Warranty, then there's nothing really to worry about. The 3rd generation RX is a hugely reliable vehicle. I had mine for 5 years and 46k miles and not a single thing went wrong. You could go up to 120k miles without major issues.

The MOT is not a certificate of roadworthiness though. It just means it was deemed to be roadworthy at time of testing. Your car can be not roadworthy despite having an MOT - for example if it has bald tyres or a windscreen chip in the field of view 1s after the MOT. Its just a snapshot of the cars life
-
An MOT is not proof of roadworthiness though. Roadworthiness can mean different things to different people and is a rubbish term to use. As far as insurance is concerned, if the accident was caused by a sudden drop in tyre pressure thats probably the only time they could actually say that it was because no TPMS was fitted
-
Yes but knowing that the MOT is a test at one specific point in time, surely you could just switch the wheels over for the MOT and run winter tyres the rest of the time.

New Owner Advice... petrol and updates
rayaans replied to b33rdy's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I dont think you can update the standard nav by yourself. Could be wrong though, not really had much experience with those. No point in using high octane fuel in this one though -
Good buy or stay away?
rayaans replied to emjay82's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Honestly depends on how many miles you plan to put on it and where that mileage will be. On short trips i.e. school run or to the shops, you'll struggle to get above even 35mpg in the NX. I managed to get it down to 26mpg on my commute to work which admittedly is 2.4 miles but that was the same as the RX with a much bigger engine! Also you have to be aware that you're potentially buying an NX300h with higher mileage compared to a 200t so servicing costs may be higher once you start getting near 60k and 100k. -
Anyone know this ISF?
rayaans replied to d3ron's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Interesting stuff. Yes the panel gap seems to be there and it doesn't line up perfectly but its not massive. The seats have lumbar support, possibly it was on the highest setting? Seats look fine - normal wear and tear for an 87k mile car All the other stuff can be sorted by a good detailer (and their bodyshop contacts). Worth a punt at £13.5k but I wouldnt pay what the dealer is asking for it with those issues. -
Thats one of the silliest things Ive read in a long time The market is determined by what sells. SUVs are the "in thing" at the moment so the arrival of the UX couldn't be at a better time. NX sales have been great and the new RX has done very well too compared to generations before it. The UX isn't a competitor to Qashqai or Jukes - its a competitor to the X1 and Q2/Q3 which are better to drive than the juke/qashqai. This generation of GS never sold well - many people are switching to SUVs and loads will happily put down £55K on an RX, but not on a GS. The same thing is happening across the manufacturers and they're all frantically working on the newest SUV because thats where sales lie. Porsche has recently got rid of diesel so we all know that its heading down the gutter. They no longer sell a car in the UK with a diesel engine. Car enthusiasts dont buy GS450h - they buy a GS-F or and RC-F. They buy M cars and AMGs. The new platform is absolutely brilliant and I have a feeling the ES/GS whatever is going to be called will be built on that platform providing its RWD. Not many people really care about RWD anyway, most people find it a PITA in the winter and couldn't care less - heck even BMW are moving towards AWD and FWD

The rear wheel size is 8.5J Therefore you can put a minimum tyre of 225 and a max of 255. You should be fine with 245 as that is towards the upper end anyway 245/40 r18 would be perfect, just be aware that there may be more sidewall visible but apart from that, won't cause any issues Please do let us know how it goes as I will probably need to change the tyres later in the year and would probably go down this route as well. Edit - could try 235/40 r18 as well but I would expect a bit more stretch in the tyre.

I always ask "by how much" and is it actually a significant difference i.e. p-values being less than 0.05. Funnily enough they never seem to have that data

How about an NX200T? Decent little engine but good value for money tbh. Tax is higher, fuel efficiency a little less in real world but the torque is very good and suits the car. -

Fair enough - looks over function I suppose but hey, whatever floats her boat! The F-Sport does look better IMO, however be aware of the diamond cut wheels being kerbed. Some of them can corrode though but not a massive thing I guess. I would expect F-Sport variants to hold their value better as well for the reason that they are relatively rare compared to the Luxury models but its probably not a huge issue. The F-Sport does come with more kit as standard as well like the triple LED headlights to name one. The NX at Evans Halshaw Reading is pretty good value TBH - has it got a FLSH? -
Delivery mileage on a brand new NX
rayaans replied to Old Sandy's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Between 8-20 seems normal. Some of these cars are brand new but have been moved around a lot so hence may have 20 miles on them Its certainly possible to get a "new" vehicle that was built 1 year ago, shipped 8 months ago and sat for another 3 months on a court. -
I configurated an E-pace. Shocked to find it'd be £50k with the same spec as an NX and its a smaller vehicle. Interior quality has always been an issue with modern jags - it gets worse with the E-pace. I think you would be a perfect candidate for an IS300h Premier, or the GS300h

Evans Halshaw will hardly reduce the price, if at all and watch out for admin fees on top. They also have a 30 minute schpiel trying to sell you all sorts of add on products at hugely inflated prices. Does it absolutely have to be an NX? I dont know whether I would want it as a family car - it needs a lot of work to get it to speed if carrying the whole family and luggage - economy becomes worse as a result. -
Official Lexus UX at Geneva Motor Show
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Should definitely match the IS if not exceed it to be honest. The NX isn't too far behind an IS and I would expect the UX to be on par with the CT or slightly below it -
Although its different with Porsche as they tend to have long waiting times Not particularly sure if its worth it for Lexus - they can usually get the vehicle down within a couple of weeks/months providing its not an odd combination

RX-300 tyres
rayaans replied to m4rkw's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Going from the reviews, they seem to be pretty good in snow but dry and wet handling is compromised substantially. Goodyears are not much more expensive and seem to be a genuine all weather tyre -
Yep its usually a refundable deposit subject to specs and prices and viewing probably
