I put 452's on and have no complaints at all. Saying that, I don't think they're as grippy as the Kumho Ecsta (Supremes maybe) that were on when I bought the car, but I had no luck finding any so went with the Falkens. A very good tyre for the money.

It's a bloody terrible time to sell.
I had mine on eBay for 3 consecutive listings recently, not too dissimilar to yours. 2001 Y plate, Sport, Aero pack, Platinum Ice, 56k, 9 months MOT and a bit of tax with a recent cam belt change. It does have some paint marks and a small bubble on the bonnet that needs sorting though.
I started at 3200 and the best I was offered was 2650. Since then I've reduced the price but now it looks like all anyone wants to pay is 2500, which is probably what I'll let it go for now as I need to sell.
Considering I bought it for 4k a year ago, and have only put 10k on it, I feel a bit miffed to say the least.
Good luck with yours matey.

I think a good ballpark figure would be about 25mpg for a manual. *sob
I have an urban/motorway mix and get 26-27.

Grumble.
I have a nice collection of stone chips on the paintwork now, pretty much scattered across the front-end (bonnet, wings, front lip etc.). Most were there when I bought her, a couple have appeared since, but they had all been touched up so wasn't overly concerned.
Unfortunately, water has got underneath the paint of the biggest one and I now have a 10mm split in the paintwork on the bonnet.
I'm thinking a complete front-end re-spray might be required. The two other options would be to swap out the bonnet and get the remaining chips touched up by a Chips-Away type outfit or get the Chips-Away chaps to just touch up the whole lot.
Anyone here had to do this at all? Just wondering about the potential wallet damage. There's about 15-17 chips in total

Same thing happened to mine mate. Rear o/s wing, about 10-11 inches long and deep.
I ended up going to Don Williams Panelcraft on Ashton Vale Trading Estate (might have to hunt for their number as they've just moved from Coopers Lane). I paid £170 (blended in to the door) and he did a good job. Plus he was the cheapest of the three quotes I got. They've done more body work for me since and I'm happy with that work too.

Hey guys, just got my first lexis, hinted the country for one I liked at the right price, colour and spec I wanted and eventually found one when I moved house and across the road. She's a blue is200 2001 model.
Plans this week, refurb alloys and finish in Matt black, smart repair scoffs on rear bumper and o/s/r door
Any hints, tips or hellos more than welcome
One tip would be to swap your 'I' and 'U' keys around on your keyboard ;)
Sorry, couldn't resist! Welcome :)

more blonde how is that done?
It's on the headlight stalk. Turn it all the way to Auto.

PSN - Garthy21
Playing Black Ops and just started on GT5 (hunting for an Altezza in the Used Car Dealership!)... though once PSN Store comes back up I'm going to live and breathe Wipeout HD (as one of my freebies), which I believe also has online gameplay :)
See you there.

Looks gd, what boot spoiler is that ?
Nice price Rich, who was it?
@ flydesign2000 - that's a TTE lip if I'm not mistaken.
-
Where did you get your wheels refurbed Rich? And possibly more importantly, what was the cost?! :winky:
-
I have the TTE lip on mine in Platinum Ice, but I'd never want anything else on the back!
Good luck :)

Hi ya,
If you go to Lexus, you can order a re furbed set of the 18" and in return send back your old Lexus wheels. I'm doing exactly that in that Im getting them for about £75ish a corner (Family discount) and will be sending them my 17s.
The 18s are prone to buckling. For example, if you look at the photo of the wheel in that ebay add, on the part between the spokes where the valve is you can see its flat instead of round (if that makes sense). Possibly real reason he's getting rid?
Chris
Is that just not the light?
Re: Lexus refurbs - Does that include swapping the tyres over on to the new wheels?
-
Thanks man, what price would you expect to pay for these. I have seen a set of the other 'sport' alloys go for £200 but I expect these worth a bit more. Money ain't no object just don't want to pay over the odds not knowing the rough going rate
A set of 4 immaculate Aero 18's with 3 decent tyres isn't bad for that price. You'll be hard pressed to find some with NO kerbing whatsoever. I'd go for it, as they're the best wheels for the car in my book. Not that I'm biased in any way, shape or form...
-
You'll probably find that it fits on the wrong side of the engine... :P
-
I'll probably be the odd one out in this forum to say this but I think the the TTE rear looks ugly...
How very dare you :winky:

Welcome!
Sorry, can't help much with questions on Auto MPG, SE worth etc, but getting the Aero kit is definitely the way forward :winky:
As for the stereo, there's no real need to get a new one as pleny pop up on eBay, or a breakers, it's just making sure you don't have the dreaded Error 3 (or 1). I believe they are fixable, but the money involved makes it not really worth it. Mine has started playing up a bit but I just plug my Iphone in to it these days.... problem solved! (ish).
The car iself looks tidy from the pics, but you needn't worry too much about that as they're bullet-proof if maintained well. I'll keep an eye out for you round Bristol B)

Hi, Filled up my IS300 to the top from empty with TESCO 95grade unleaded 3 days ago,,since then the car has started to run pretty rough and the engine management light came on but strangely hasn't been on today, I'm not too sure of the quality of petrol from supermarkets anyone else had problems, does any member think that super grade is better for the large 300 engine?
Lew
I fill up with Sainsburys or Asda 95, occasionally I'll stick in a 'branded' fuel depending on where I am when I need to fill up. It makes absolutely no difference to my mileage (if you have an Iphone get the Road Trip LE app, great bit of kit if you're an MPG nerd like me).
Unfortunately I can't stretch to anything more than 95, would be interested to see if it makes any difference, and enough of a difference to warrant the extra bucks filling the tank!

Hi I'm a complete novie, and making a list of things I'd like to do to my completely stocks IS200s.
I want to put a new exhaust system on, but I have no idea how to decide what to get, brand, type etc...
Can anyone offer me advice as a total noob?
Thank you all
I'm going here as soon as mine needs replacing. Looks like I'll be waiting a long time though, my original exhaust (9 yrs, 52k) has got loads of life yet!

Parthiban gave me some good info on the kits here
-
36, 2yrs NCB on fully comp with 2 accidents in the last 5 years (1 non-fault) = £850ish with Esure.
The original quote with them went up by £80 when I made sure they were aware that it had the Aero kit on it (factory fitted). Bit of a rip-off, but better than Elephant who cancelled my policy when I told them about the styling kit. For some bizarre reason insuring a Sport was fine, but not with the kit! :tsktsk:

That steering wheel is so low he must be a midget... :winky:
-
I've had similar problems with a couple of previous cars - both times it turned out to be an old dried-out leaf. I don't know where the blower unit is on the IS200 but I found the culprit there.

You considered renting out a local garage or someone's else driveway or even ask your local dentist or doctors if they will rent out their parking space since they are not in use at night.
I too will be in the same position if we do managed to have our offer accepted on our next house. The only downside is on street parking in London. I calculated this option works out cheaper than fixing the bumper or respray + aggro of seeing the damage in the longer term. I personally would rather park the car in a garage locked up knowing it is safe and walk 10 min back home than come back to seeing any damage caused by someone else. Not sure if you can even reduce insurance premium since it is now garage or off street parking.
That's not a bad idea. Nothing like that around me unfortunately, unless I used Aldi car park where I'd run the risk of clamping and it being broken in to instead!
I'm looking to move at the end of the year, and providing the car makes it that long in one piece then OSP, a garage or at the very least a quiet, wide road is a must!
-
A stark warning to all of you who ever have to park your beloved on the residential streets of Bristol, or my work car park...
So far...
Day 9 - Keyed rear o/s wing
Month 5 - Parking scrape - rear n/s bumper (corner)
Month 5 - Parking scrapes x 3 (small) - front bumper (middle) - obviously from the tow-hook of the Citroen over the road but can't prove it (S.O.B.)
Month 6 - Parking scrape - front o/s wheel arch
And the latest...
Month 6 - Parking CREASE/SCRATCH - rear o/s door, and into rear wing/front door.
This latest one was done in my work car park! No note left, and the car is just out of shot on the CCTV so no joy there. First quote for the crease/paint repair is £350. I think if I murder everyone at work, then the guilty party is bound to be among the dead and I shall have had my revenge.
No doubt there'll be more entries to the Ding Diary, as I'm convinced my car has some sort of bullseye on it that only sub-standard drivers/yobs can see.

I keep missing these on eBay and it's starting to get on my moobs!
As the title says, I'm after a Platinim Ice bonnet for my 2001 IS200 Sport. Must be in relatively good condition. Thanks!
