  1. If its a sports car you are after then its not the Lexus band you need to look at ... If its the image of it being "sportier" then I would go with the SE-L - in keeping all the "goodies" you can add a spoiler, both front and back for around 250-300 and any wheels you wish to the car to give it a sportier look. You haven't stated what model year you are looking at but you cant go wrong with the spec of the SE-L
  2. Makes it look easy Did you watch the water transfer process which is the next video if you let it run - now that's cool !!
  3. The rubber grease is around £10 and comes in a toothpaste sized tube. It has a shelf life stated on the tube so make sure its in date but why this should matter I don't know as its not hygroscopic. I have had mine a while and I have just checked and its just out of date but its fine.
  4. Back to the drawing board .. I did use the BG additive for a few months on varying levels of tank fuel as I did think one can would not make a difference. Did you use it regularly?
  5. There have been a few owners on here that have had this done a while back ... can anyone comment on its effectiveness now its been a few months since its been done ... worthwhile ?
  6. Sounds a bit more "far gone" than mine (had no warning lights so far) - I would go out on a limb and say that the BG44 does work as I have used it a few times when its happened to mine and the lumpy feeling did go for quite a while but I stopped using it and its back.... I did, and this was going back quite a few years, soak the inlet ports of a car I had (took the plugs out and poured redex in and left for a while and then turned the car over without the plugs in to get rid of the fluid and it did release a lot of muck) The car was an old morris marina - no electronics back then so it was just a mechanical "wash" really. Not sure what difference that made but I was just messing about with cars back then...no damage done I am thinking that its still the same principle now and there's a good chance it can clean out the ports as before but its a big job in removing the plugs on this beast but what's the best additive to use to do this? There's a recent post on here about misting the air intake with water while the cars running which helps to remove/reduce the carbon build up which is where the lumpy issue is coming from but I would not trust myself to do it correctly and bust the car !! Terraclean is another option - getting more popular as I have heard a local garage to me now does this. I may give this a go but I would like to see a before and after readout which no one offers at the moment to see how effective the clean has been...
  7. I had a "lumpy tickover" today - sounds like a medical condition !! I had this last year a couple of times and it went away after using the BG additive. Its apparently associated to the carbon build up issue that these are prone to but could this actually be associated to a failing sensor I guess due to the lapse in time since it last happened which was a while ago then I doubt it will be a failing sensor but it seems to be related to air input in the way that its being starved of air (filters fine) so I am wondering if there are any sensors down from the air box that can be checked / cleaned. It doesn't seem to be an issue at all as it disappears as quick as it appears and the additive does seem to help ...
  8. I think it was a case of using a bit of force (with small hammer taps) when mine came out - breaking the thread lock that's applied when they are first put in. If you were closer I would give you a hand I am due a trip up to Dundee in a few months - are you anywhere local to there?
  9. Bummer !! never mind For anyone interested there are a set on Flebay at the moment - not mine
  10. Will the IS F 19" wheels be a good fit on the IS 250?
  11. Hi Peter I wouldn't mind knowing how they resolved the droning - I had a stainless system fitted when mine went and the drone like you said you have experienced is dreadful. Although now, almost 2 years after it has been fitted its not that bad (coked up a bit now I think) At 70 mph and around 2k revs is the worst and as that's cruising speed its sods law its annoying !! I have seen "fixes" for it which people have done in the states which involve adding a curved pipe to each exhaust behind the back boxes and this creates a disturbance in the air flow and also adds a bit of back pressure which improves the flow and also eliminates the noise.
  12. Has anyone considered having one fitted in their car or actually had one fitted (after market) I much prefer a sunroof with windows open rather than having the aircon on - that's one of the things I miss from owning the IS200 Seems a shame they only had it as a model option on this IS range. It was quite impressive on the last one...
  13. Not sure how you can check them as you would need to shine a light on the rear view mirror sensor while looking at the wing mirrors - 2 people possibly? They look tinted when in operation. Also not sure where the sensor is located - there are what looks like three areas around the mirror area (LED's in the mirror mounting itself and two sensors behind the mirror on the screen which is probably the rain sensor) If you can see what looks like a black inky liquid bleed within the mirror glass then the mirror is shot and needs replacing.
  14. Noticed today, at least in the Shell garage, that' its gone up again ... £1.26.9 V Power and £1.18.9 standard !!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Does the car have one? I was messing with the settings during dinner break a few days ago - looking through the manual setting the memory settings for the seat/mirrors etc and getting them to reset back to where they have been set to when you open the door using the remote. I managed to do this by following the manual but you need to do this while in the car. I managed to lock the car (while it was not running) while I was sitting in it by using the remote key buttons - a few seconds later the alarm came on - I probably set it off but was wondering if I set off a panic alarm using the key fob (some cars have them and I don't know if this one does) .... took what seemed like ages to figure out how to turn the alarm off though !!
  16. My wife has only ever driven it once and that was about 5 metres out of the drive - that was enough (I was on edge for the whole 20 minutes she took to do it !!!)
  17. just a bit ... and you want an F ... how long before you get into double figures !
  18. £253 with one write off under my belt (no points) and write off was a no fault claim (flooded) - this is with LV Is coming up for renewal in June and if I put my wife on the insurance even although she will not drive it (which suits me fine) this will come down to £228
  19. Was the windscreen ok?
  20. Totally agree - I think this is why there are a lot of owners that do the work on their cars themselves which is not a bad thing at all as it makes sure they are looked after - take the calipers for example Its an easy job to grease them (I do mine every 6 months) - cost is a bit of grease and an hour or so of my time. Same with the oil and filter change £60 for the oil and filter and approx. 1 hour of my time (need to charge myself really !) You could also add the sensors to that - cost from Lexus to supply/fit = £650, do yourself for £150. I have not had something on it that I haven't managed to fix and had to go down the dealer route yet although the exhaust came close.
  21. Thanks ahmed the link explains it straight and to the point.
  22. Like Normski said Its an option the car has to open the windows remotely by holding the unlock button down on the remote fob for approx. 3 seconds. The option however opens the windows until the button is released - you may find it will happen if you have something pressing on the button if you have the keys in your pocket. The reverse happens if you press the lock button on the remote, the windows will fully close. The close feature is a handy option but I don't really see the benefit of opening them remotely as it also unlocks the car doors. It would be handy if only the windows open and doors stayed locked.
  23. ... Just one thing about these dash cams Something on the tv last night referenced notification on buildings that had security cameras installed on them needing signs stating a camera was in use.. Will footage from a dash cam stand up in court if necessary with no warning on your car stating you are recording the journey?
