Personally, I would concentrate on getting your brakes done first ... more important than the spoiler I would say. In my experience with refurbing the callipers - you can un-seize them easily enough but while you may spend time and money on the parts needed to clean and free the calliper piston it will be worth your while in changing it for a new unit as you will need to buy the calliper seal kit. Chances are that the work you will do will last a year or so until they will need to be done again. Pitting in the piston chamber and on the piston itself will have took place if waters got in there and you will never remove the damage done. Remember though if you are still going down this route to use the correct grease as others will react to the rubber boots etc and the rubber will lose the elasticity it has and thus it will lose the ability to seal onto the piston creating water / dirt etc to enter again.

?? don't know what that could be - did you pass your test in an automatic car - if you did you wont be eligible to drive a manual ... cant think of any others apart from in excess of 12 points?

Metal Pin

You are right in what you have done - it just looks like someone has used different metal push lock clips from the standard OEM ones that's all. The clips do pop out for no reason and go walkies. They are easy to buy from ebay and don't cost much Happy days if that's all that goes wrong with it ..... -
I totally agree - pays to be honest doesn't it !! I have two cars coming up for renewal - seemingly this also applies to windscreens as well. My wifes insurance has made reference to a screen replacement last year and the quote seemed high. It was replaced through the insurance with the usual excess paid but it seems that it DOES affect the renewal. A new quote from the company has taken the windscreen replacement into account and looking at other company quotes on the compare the meercat site then comparing her details indicating and not indicating the screen has been replaced indicates a difference of anywhere between £46 to £90 price difference. So unless you are willing to change companies every year then the excess you are paying on the screen will be (or most of it will be) clawed back the following year.

The filter may be too far gone that you need to actually clean it to give it a chance in the future to let it regen itself - there are quite a few posts here that run through how to clean this. Even though you have tried to force the regen of the filter then that may not have been enough to clear it.

Metal Pin

Does the pin have a large rubber washer on it - if so it could be the bonnet slam washer that allows you to adjust slightly the height of the bonnet to align with other panels -
I was doing some work on my lads car yesterday - had to replace the heater control unit as the fan in the car was blowing continuous hot air. Its not a Lexus - its a KA - I am just looking for a bit of information on this as its not clear from looking through the web ... I noticed a large crack on his windscreen (how he didn't notice it before beats me... teenagers !!!) - I have circled it in the picture and have indicated the size of the crack in yellow. Basically is this an MOT failure?

Can you put a picture up of the area in concern... -
Can only base information on this if you let us know the factors that would determine the rough price range of the car... Whats the price? Whats the mileage? Whats the condition? Full service history? Also depends a bit on what plate its on? A good condition low miler with full service history ... around £7500 - £8000 ish at a guess

To be honest I have never been worried about the mpg (as long as its not like a Hummer !!) I prefer to have a different car than the mainstream jungle out there - not paying out constantly for repairs (on the "inferior" brands) must have a benefit and break even with the high fuel costs so it makes sense in the long run to have a good reliable car. I prefer the drive than any other car I have had although at the time i had my 200 I would have said it was the best car I had. I am not looking to change just yet but the next one maybe next year will be an F I am not too happy with this one at the moment due to the after market exhaust that's been fitted - has killed the car - the car is sound but the drone the exhaust emits it bad but with the radio up i don't hear it anymore. It defeats the object really for me about owning one as they should be a quiet car. Its been that long ago now that I cant remember how quiet it was before i had the exhaust done. -
Lost Key
is200 Newbie replied to Gman92's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Apologies to the original poster if this is legit ..but does anyone agree ...Is something starting to sound a bit dodgy here? A new key for £220 - they cost £330 new from dealer - for the key alone? I am sure an 'F' key would cost even more ... And for someone to come out and link the key up to the car ... ? (cash sale ?) The forum is an ideal place to ask questions of this sort but why not initially ask the dealer what type of key is required as its the best source to start with isn't it? I don't think any answer given on the topic of this has revealed how to program these via a back door (as they cant) but it has shown how easily information can be gained should someone request it - innocently or not? ... and also - making a presumption on this - surely the posters car was locked when he lost the key. Begs the question how can someone get a new key to work from outside a locked car? -

I travel a lot of country roads - mainly to work and back ... I have found mine (a 250) sticks to the road when using the paddles around the twists and turns - does the F feel as planted? The only thing about the country roads, especially after it has rained is that you constantly need to clean the car !! -

Usb Ports Not Recognising Mp3 Player
is200 Newbie replied to jaybaka's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
If its the same principle as the IS's then theres no issue with the port, its something to do with the the of MP3 player you are plugging into it - I cant remember the exact terms and maybe someone on here will know but the player needs to have a specific type of output to play .... or something like that ...?! -

A pretty much understated car (wolf in sheeps clothing) - even back to the 250, you don't see a lot on the road. I wonder if you took the badges off them you would get more people wondering what the car is? But its nice to see others on the road especially when you are behind or in front of another the same - I had two 250's in a row behind me coming back from Chester a few weeks back but there is a dealer there so I guess its more likely. My local garage only has another one, other than mine, that he regularly has in for an MOT and that is dropped off by a guy on his way to work who is not local so its nice having something that's not the 'run of the mill' - something that you would not lose in an ASDA car park against the many mainstream other cars .! -
I had 3 screens replaced by the AA in the space of 2 weeks a few years back... The original cracked from a stone chip so I had it replaced - Screen 1 had a 'wobble' in the glass directly in the drivers line of sight (would have failed an MOT as it was bad) - the installer could not see it?! Screen 2 they replaced the 'wobbled' one but broke the rear view mirror mounting Screen 3 they replaced the screen as they could not repair the mirror mounting - the mounting on this screen was loose after that and I didn't bother getting them back to repair it. that was in the space of 2 weeks - I would not use them again and always make sure what company the insurance company I go with uses to make sure its not them. I would send you a picture of the seal of mine but quite sure it s not the same.

Its the security nut - by the sounds of it a non standard one - do you have a security nut key in the boot that fits over these in order to remove the wheels? You should have one on each wheel?
