  1. I have found and bought a part that will be suitable to see if the bits I have found are compatable in repairing the wing mirror movement issues - its coming from the states so I will post when I have the parts for this and if it works or not. Apparently the innards of the wing mirror for the IS 250 are the same as that of the following models ... IS250 / IS350 / ES330 / GS300 / SC430 / LS430 on various years from 2001 to 2010
  2. I am pretty sure the wiring will be different - there is a member on here that deals with them - he is from Australia and very helpful. Have a root through this forum and you will find a few threads
  3. When I got my car the mirrors dipped when reversing but over the years have worked less and less. It has bugged me for a while and I have always had it on my list of things to do. I am going t get round to this now. I have found a possible supplier of the plastic parts for the motor gearing in the housing. Does anyone have any mirrors lying around - they don't have to have the mirrors attached or be in any good condition as all I am interested in is the innards of the housing so I can get a good sample of the parts so I can find and fit compatible parts. I don't want to use mine as the car is in daily use. Mirrors on ebay are around 100£ and I don't want to pay that for the purpose of what I want to do
  4. Hi Steve I had a stainless fitted - centre and 2 boxes for 450 - I thought that was reasonable compared to 2700 quoted from lexus. Its noisy (has a drone at cruising speed) but I have got used to it. To be honest I am looking to see what can be done to get rid of the noise. I had seized pins on the calipers and carriers which I fixed but thought it was not working that well so I eventually replaced them and have regularly applied grease so they have been fine since. I knew there was a problem on them from when I had my 200 so it was one of the first areas I checked when I got the car and the pins were dry.
  5. There are some currently listed on ebay that are the same as mine which include painting listing number 361226905139 for £86 and that includes postage and painting which is pretty good. Just let them know your paint code.
  6. Thanks Normski It should be ok. Are these ok to jump start?
  7. as above ... I am going to be leaving my car in a car park soon for a month - under normal circumstances will the battery be ok to leave unused for this time? Anyone aware of any power drain on the battery that would make it fail to start. This will be the longest I have left it undriven...
  8. Just turned over 86k miles .... not a lot of miles for this car but 3 years ownership from 70k. 16k driven. Whats gone wrong in this time ... Calipers - both rears replaced Calipers - both fronts replaced Exhaust - centre section Sensor - x1 O2/fuel sensor Engine - what is believed to be carbon build up 'shiver' which has not proved to be an issue Sound system - DVD has no sound Mirrors - Lose their position after reversing - still to resolve Front Discs / pads replaced - Worn (wear and tear) Rear Discs / pads replaced - Worn (wear and tear) Amount spend (excluding petrol and mot's) on service parts and maintenance (I have kept a log and receipts for this as the car no longer has a dealer service) = £1222 I don't suppose that's too bad for 3 years of relative hassle free motoring - the most expensive outlay was the exhaust at £450
  9. Heres 3 pics of the profile on mine - it was bought from Taiwan a couple of years ago from ebay - Painted with Standox paint which has proved to be very good in both its colour match and resilience to the UK weather. Again, its a 3M adhesive type but its solid on the car. Just remember to prep the area that the adhesive will fit over by either using the supplied solvent or use an IPA type solvent before fixing to the car to remove any dirt from the area. I would definitely buy another again.
  10. .... heres my chip in The error code is different to the one I had for the sensors I replaced.- Lexus do recommend they are replaced between 70 and 80k I was told so yours being original on 150k are doing very well. There is a noticeable difference with the running and fuel efficiency when replacing the old sensors but do in pairs. Bank 1 and 2 (sensor 1's) pre cat. The post cat sensors I was told should last the life of the car... I would like to see that, but define the life of the car - most cars at your mileage wound be pushing up daisys but these are very robust cars so I would not consider that to be a bad mileage as long as its looked after. You can also check your exhaust for holes / blowing - the sensor may register this and throw up an error but I would expect to see problems with the exhaust between the sensors for this to happen. Possible, as theres quite a lot of pipe between them. To be honest I would hate to think what the cost of the exhaust / cats would be for this - you would probably be looking at a full one at this mileage and unless you are looking at a custom one then the cost alone for the centre piece and back boxes (fitted) by Lexus was £2700 when I enquired 2 years ago when mine went. So, probably add the same again to that. The pattern part is not available from the likes of ATS etc. Its unlikely both cats have gone ...I think it would be better to have a diagnosis at a dearer unless you would like to replace the sensors for around £200 and see how you get on. But a quick diagnosis would be advisable as you could be damaging the cats which this error code refers to. Also, if you know anyone working at a garage you could ask them to do an emission check for you, if the cats have gone then I would expect it to fail this test. Let us know how you get on. My first check would be the exhaust.
  11. Is this issue with wheels confined to the UK or does anyone know if its across the whole worldwide supply of Lexus cars... I think I heard somewhere that the wheels were made in the UK ? It seems to have been a long running saga for the OEM wheels corroding from the early IS's in the 90's ... and possibly the earlier LS's? You would think the issue would be resolved after at least 16 years of issues with them ... it doesn't seem to be good overall customer service for their product or continual improvement on their product as it seems to affect each model in the range? Its a pretty substantial 'fault' with the cars even considering its just the image of it and not really mechanical - something you would expect the manufacturer to correct as it projects an immediate image of bad quality for the cars manufacturer
  12. Sorry .... missed the number out in my post ..DUH ! Which site did you use - I looked at the webuyanycarone
  13. Ebay item number 291062390949 is the specific one to use to remove the housing cover to gain access to the filter.
  14. Welcome back - looking forward to a lot more resolutions to members problems. Hope alls well.
  15. I needed the ramp to get under the car to get good leverage as I could not remove it while it was sat on the ground. It worked on mine. My local garage put it on his ramp but he let me take it off, I guess that was in case he broke it. A bit of heat carefully applied may help (I stress a bit of heat as its a cast aluminium housing) but you will need to take off a few plastic panels under the car to do that. The housing flap hole is not really that big to get a lot of tools into.
  16. There is a post on here from someone who had this exact problem - I am pretty sure he bought a new housing just in case it cracked - cant remember the exact topic. Will have a look. I do my oil changes on a 6 month basis (or thereabouts) and put the cap on just over hand tight as the first time I changed the oil on the car I needed to get it on a ramp with a lot of force to get it loose ... the last service on the car for the oil change before I bought it was by Lexus.
  17. There are IS 250 SE-L's Where are they?
  18. I purchased mine with the grey alloys and my car is the same colour as yours - the wheels are standard 17's - picture below of the wheels on the car...
  19. Welcome to the club .... Those are cruel prices - the kind of cost an insurance company would write the car off against. You can purchase a decent 250 for that money !!! Surely the seat should not come loose under any circumstance within its normal use - pressing this point home to the dealer to make them realise it is a risk to the safety of the occupants may persuade them to repair it. If no luck with that its definitely worth a letter to head office as the last thing they want is to deal with another recall but saying that if there are other owners out there in the same position then its wise to bring it to the fore...
  20. Check your parking sensors on the bumpers - is anything stuck over them or getting in their way (just a thought) I would still be inclined to think its your passenger seat... all other indicators that warn you of boot open / bonnet open / doors open etc flash as a visual warning on the LED instrument cluster. Check next time it happens as there will be a red light flashing on the instrument cluster telling you to buckle up (small red indicator - top left I think?) To identify its not the seat sensor then drive around with it beeping for a few minutes, the tone should change to a quicker beep indicating to you to belt up. If it doesn't do this then you can rule this out The button/switch on the right of the steering lets you turn the parking sensors off/on and adjust some instrument panel settings
  21. Something rolling around in the underbody plastic panels. Would explain only hearing it at low speed when braking or accelerating when the car is relatively quiet?
  22. Dodgy passenger seat sensor? You can disable the beep - its described on you tube how to do it but its a warning so would it be wise to?
