  1. Firstly ... I apologize .... I have always liked the Porsches and will eventually get once (once wifes retired !!) just to say I have had one. The ISF in the initial video clip at the start of the post sounds awesome compared to the Porsche - the video clip at around the 2:30 mark of the exhaust note from the Porsche sounds like a duck !! Does the ISF have twin boxes (2 x 2 outlets) or does it have twin tips on a single outlet?
  2. I was always told to use cold water to run over the screen as and shock to the glass from doing it with warm or hot water could make any stone chip cracks worse or further extend any actual cracks. .
  3. Anyone with a walkthrough on a coolant change?
  4. Good post .... so its roughly comparative with a normal run of the mill car (mondeo etc ..) so begs the question why are the Lexus quite rare compared to these "normal" cars - definitely more reliable and if you take the reliability of them into account then they are probablu on a rar with these cars due to lack of repair bills...
  5. To be honest i have had no reason to doubt their performance - certainly lasted well and it has only been the past few weeks where i have had the issue. They were on the car when i got it - the tyres were new at the time, put on by the garage i bought the car from. I have replaced the fronts at some point during ownership and put Dunlops on - the rears must have been fine at the time but recently the treads getting low - still legal but maybe too low to perform on a rear wheel drive car. I will be looking at branded tyres for the rear when I get round to it at the end of the week.
  6. Sidewalls are all ok - no cracks but the treads a bit smooth (still legal) towards the outer edge of both tyres - the tread pattern not that good on the outers, The tyres on at the moment are Green Star - never heard of them before but they were put on by the garage that sold me the car. To be fair they have lasted well. I am goping to renew both rears this week.
  7. The steering feels fine but the back of the car is a bit twitchy - I am sure its the tyres as the tread is low (ish) but wondering if it could be anything else - I don't think shocks would give the feeling of the car sliding slightly but have never had shocks go on a car before. The issue is at the rear - the fronts fine
  8. I guess its a tyre change - I measured the depth before and its even wear and at 3mm remaining so they can do with changing.
  9. I have an issue when steering round corners - I think its the tyres but anyone confirm this or have experienced it? Driving round corners - or a roundabout, the car feels like the back end is coming out (understeer on the rear?) Speed round the corners or roundabout is not excessive - following other cars at a slow speed in most cases, 20/20mph max. It doesn't actually slide but feels like it could? Never had this before and it the same both turning left and right although I feel it more when turning right. My initial thoughts are rear tyres as it feels like the back end is drifting - tread is fine but they don't have a good "edge" to the tread - not worn, its just the way they are designed. They have been on the car since I had it - I have kept a record of work done on the car since I have owned it and the rears have not been changed since I had it almost 4 years (25k) ago so they have lasted well although there is still a good bit of tread on them. I keep the pressures to 38 so they are not deflated either. Could this be another issue such as shocks - how can I tell .... or any other issue?
  10. Should have stated not bad mileage (out if a tank) - MPG is shown at 42 - average speed 69 - tank average is 38 ?
  11. Went to Scotland this weekend - should have been Cardiff but a long story ... I clocked this MPG (488) - Range + already covered from a full tank. This was 17 miles around town and a roads - the rest was motorway at a steady 70mph (ish) I reckon it will easily run over the 500 mile mark if it was a full motorway journey. This was £1.10 ASDA normal unleaded fuel
  12. It was the rear mirror sensor I could not work out as the glare comes from the rear of the car onto the mirror glass - why would the sensor be on a spot that does not sense the glare. Well explained with the video Linas
  13. I should have done my homework first - the only notification I had was the penalty letter a month later after I had been (thought I had strayed into a prohibited lane or something - Lesson learnt.
  14. Is there an option to turn the sound off - also an option for the back sensors only I think to set the operating distance
  15. I had it once when i acknowledged another owner while passing but I am sure he gave me a funny look !! I have had a few people come over to the car when I am either in a shop (petrol garage lately) to say its a nice car / one they have always wanted / hows it to drive etc ... quite nice to be noticed for its rarity. There's only one other Lexus local to me which is a yellow Alteeza, same style as the IS200. Its nice to be a bit different - think it would be good to spot another member on the road, hence the badge for the car
  16. Spooky - just posted a "how to" in cleaning the wing mirror motor assembly on an IS (in the IS 250 section) Quite an easy job. Sounds like the mirrors in yours could do with a clean. The cogs in the mirrors get covered in dirt as they are greased and the dirt collects on the grease preventing it operation correctly. Will only get worse.
  17. Is it really noticeable when this function is working (this is for the interior mirror) - I can see the light on and it turns a smokey colour when being lit up not that much that I can say wow that's a good feature. The sensor on the back of the mirror - between the mirror housing and the windscreen - what function does this have?
  18. Rip off - either way I would have been caught out as I left at 1pm !!! Still ... I got a nice picture of my car headlights and number plate !!
  19. I went down to London last month - parked up in a local NCP car park to Grosvenor square, Mayfair. I had a ticket this week for a congestion charge fine .... whats that all about ... £65 fine for using the car at a certain time of the day? I got to London at just after 7am.
  20. Would these stickers be the same as that in the shop - as below ? Would be nice to have one sticker supplied to each member but if they are the same I will buy one
  21. Guess I should try it really but good to know there should be no issue in just replacing the battery
  22. Ever since I bought the car the spare key has been put away - I guess the battery will be dead by now - will there be any issues with it if I put a new battery in. Will it need to be paired if there is such a process to do or will a battery replacement just bring it back to life? Its been put away now for approx. 4 years.
  23. I will have put nearly 4k miles on the car within 6 weeks (most I think I have ever done in a short time) after this weeks trip to Cardiff and next weekend to Scotland. I have not passed a lot of Lexus on the road up to now in this time - travelled both during day and night and the ones I did see I can count on 4 fingers - 2 x RX / 1 x IS 220 / 1 x IS 200 With seemingly not that many on the road (compared with the merc / bmw clones etc) I was wondering if the ones I saw were LOC members. Has the forum mods though about having a window sticker available for its members to indicate to others or is that a bit spooky?
  24. At what point from the last oil change did the car start the rattle?
