  1. Thanks guys ! The car in question is mine and have put it up for sale yesterday - value was based on advice here and also auto-trader and a valuation through webuyanycar. ALL of the cars advertised as IS250's for the year 2006 are either accident damaged or with high miles (not that high miles matter that much) or with lower spec. The highest price on autotrader is £4200 for an accident damaged one with 56k on the clock. No where near with the extras mine has. The next closest one is a 2006 with 72k miles on it, again with none of the extras mine has. webuyanycar values mine at £4750 not accounting for any of the extras. My price is fair at £5500 - taking into account the two new tyres needed which i have already mentioned in the advert, i am getting these done before sale. My reason for no offers is that i am a bit reluctant to sell it, its in excellent condition and my wife wont drive it, if she does i fear it will get banged around a bit (no disrespect) so i want it to go to someone who will look after it as i obviously have - its worth what people want to pay for it? Its definitely worth what i am asking for it.
  2. Never sold a car privately before so just realised i don't really know what the process is for taking someone on a test drive. Should i ask to see their insurance - should i tell mine? or should i even let them drive the car and left them ride along? Seems like a dumb question i know but not sure of how this is done. Bought plenty of cars from dealers where they either give you the keys or sit in the passenger seat while you drive ...
  3. Totally agree, but she wont look after it when driving it ! 😟
  4. Cant really advertise it for sale here, will be on Autotrader soon.
  5. I really dont know - dont really want to let this one go but wife wont drive it. Have 2 cars and will probably sell both and look for a smaller one - the only smaller one Lexus do is the CT ... not sure on these compared to the IS but have now been spoiled through years of driving the IS. Was looking at an Astra sized one - possibly a Pug 308 but again don't know, hate buying cars as too much choice. Like to stay with Toyota, Yaris is too small really, might look at CT?
  6. Would love an ISF - wife wont drive it tho !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  7. I am reluctantly putting mine up for sale next month - i thought i was asking too much for mine at 5500 before i saw this advert !! Mine is a 2006 SE-L with the moonroof option, 41k miles, Lexus 18" spider alloys, spoilers and 2 owners. Spotless inside and out .... is this a fair price for the car or am i dreaming?!
  8. I put a post on this back in 2016 - seems like yesterday !!! - i cant copy the link but if you search wing mirors IS220d 2007 from 16th December 2016 you should be able to find it.
  9. Think the fuse should be ok as the op can get into the car unless the signal from it works on a different circuit?
  10. A spot of weld will sort out the leak where the guard is tacked to it. Best check under the guard also, why the tech didn't i don't know? There's a lot of soot around a point where the leak could feed into or there could be another leak not just the one he spotted. Also, a weak spot in the exhaust not checked (only visually) is where the pipes enter the boxes and also just before and after the centre resonator - weak spots in the exhaust that's best to see if there is any undue corrosion as could cause damage to underside / bumper if they fail. Also, as Linas pointed out, rear discs look like they could do with replacing. Easy job but also look at the callipers to make sure the pins are greased.
  11. Get a second opinion. My first is250 went in for the airbag and fuel seal recall. Came back after their health check with a requirement to have 2 brake callipers replaced - they were fine as i had not long greased and checked them. Just after business so do get a second opinion. Definitely get your brake lines double checked - i have owned 2 is250's (2007 and 2006), not had any issue or mention of any problems with brake lines. Cant say i have heard a lot of members mentioning they have either, depends on where its driven i suppose, but definitely a second opinion required. Let us know how you get on..
  12. Have never take car into Lexus for work - only the one time with an old IS200 when i wanted the cam belt changed - over 13 years of owning a Lexus i have never needed to put it into a garage. (touch wood) ... Anyway, will they give you a report of what they have looked at or changed, at this point in time are they replacing parts trying to find the issue or are they just investigating... not sure how a dealer would approach this ? have you agreed a cost or have they indicated a cost for time taken to investigate?
  13. Sorry, meant the armrest !! It wont show any data on the screen but place the MP3 player next to the shift lever once its all plugged in and you can change songs etc as you want.
  14. Connect a small MP3 player in the glovebox in the audio in jack socket and power it from the socket in there also. The way these sockets are located they aren't that much use for anything anyway when the armrest is down. Have done this to mine and it works great, stuck a whole load of songs in it so the selection lasts forever - when you want to add new ones just copy them over.
  15. A guide, and i know its a low price they give (only use as a guide before i am shouted at by other members for using this service) but good enough to give you an idea of value, put you car through webuyanycar.com valuation online. It will be lower than what you would get but will give you an idea of value. Thinking of selling mine this year and i done this to get an idea as it is a spotless 2006 but very low miles with sunroof / ML etc and it gave me a guide price.
  16. Any news on the fix?
  17. Excellent video - just watched it - totally agree with the guy in this video and also with the engine cleaner (engine flush), have done this for years and years. Had a Vauxhall Astra once - long time ago (2003) and that had the issue with oil consumption, 1 litre per 1k miles and Vauxhall were adamant that it was normal usage - begged to differ at the time, had it on a consumption test by them and the results came back as fine - eventually sold it back to them as a part x against first Lexus - best thing i done.
  18. Mines a 2006 with 40k and does not use a drop - oil changed twice a year but only once in the past 12 months as have just not done the miles.
  19. I had mine part changed in 2017 (had 2 out of 3 flushes done before the car, 2007 IS250, was written off in an accident) - had issues a bit with judder and the solenoid issue every so often - it definitely cured the issue and i was waiting to get the 3rd flush done but lost the car before it could be completed. Car was over 100k miles (cant remember the exact mileage, i think near to 114?) - the change was made by an indie garage which i trusted but has closed down now. Took a picture at the time of the differences in the oil - old vs new flush and you can see the difference. This was after second flush and possibly didn't need a 3rd? Remember the old smelling a bit burnt but don't know what it smells like anyway so cant comment on the comparison - car was looked after by me for at least 50k miles before i lost it and was a daily driver with at least 10 miles driven a day, whether that's too short i don't know...
  20. Could have you introduced a static shock to it at some point? May have shut down the system. May be worth disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then re-connecting and see what happens. Also a good idea to read the fault code if one has been stored BEFORE you disconnect the battery but if there is an issue it will re-appear
  21. I have never considered these cars with an insurance black box in them - they need to be really confident in fitting them to these cars due to the amount of electronics in them. Just as a question ... did the install of it bring down your insurance significantly. My lad had one on his fist car years ago and it kept his policy low, mind you it was only a Ford KA but a little pocket rust rocket 😀
  22. Also could be sticking callipers (pins need greasing) ... the force of moving releasing the pads from the discs and when you have re-applied the brakes they stick on again. Might be an indication to get them cleaned and re-greased.
  23. Exactly the same as what i experienced with mine from a company that made a SS system in Ellesmere Port. It was on my last IS250 and it got to the point that i made one myself as at the time they were not available from the likes of ATS etc as the pattern part had not been released by Lexus. Made it from 3" mild steel pipe using an IS200 centre resonator and two Rover ZR back boxes. Bit of fiddling around with it but got it right with no noise and it looked good as the Rover boxes, the only ones i found that would fit in the underbody recess, had twin pipes per box and it did make a difference to the way the car performed which was a lot better. The IS200 box fitted great, was a bit smaller but with the bigger pipes and the twin boxes the car went really well. Unfortunately it was written off !
  24. Have you got a second key that you could try, clutching at straws but could it be an issue with the immobiliser in that it is not recognising the key or the key battery is dead or dying?
  25. Thats not normal - you will get drive immediately and also reverse. It is true that the system protects the gearbox until it is warmed up (can only get up to 5th gear in auto until its warmed then it will select 6th)
