Possibly something wedged in the tracks - they are not easy to check to be honest. WD40 wont help the motion of the seat really in comparison to a "lube" of grease. I would recommend taking the seat out to check the tracks are not blocked with something - moving it when its straining would I imagine do damage to the motors of the seat...

Ebay Exhaust
is200 Newbie replied to Exdee's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I have adjusted an exhaust a few times on my last car after making one and spending time to fit it. If your exhaust has been delivered to you then it has probably been knocked around and put out of line in the process - the only issue you should find in replacing the back boxes are the two bolts that hold it to the centre section as the fitment to the rubber hangers is good. There may be two resolutions - possibly the wrong hole has been selected on the rubber hanger when fitting the boxes ... but in the picture it looks like as stated above, the boxes are out of alignment. I think this can be seen in the picture due to the strain seem on the drivers side hanger just poking out from the bumper. It would be an easy job if you have ramps to remove the boxes and straighten - only straighten the drivers side. I would do it sooner rather than later as the joint to the centre section will rust as the replacement boxes will be mild steel but not the same grade of steel used as the centre section. I think it would be quite an easy fix - even taking it to ATS for them to do - should be an easy job. It may start to knock on the body work if left -
Good job - nice to see advice is still used - I like the clean looks of painting the rears as it does make a big difference. Your green calipers are still standing up to the weather ... thinking of doing mine soon, black or blue ... not decided yet. The calipers on mine aren't that badly corroded yet on the outside so an ideal time to clean and paint.

Spring Clean
is200 Newbie replied to J Henderson's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Search ebay for the following listing number: 132106229929 I like the grill because the mesh matches the lower grill quite well - I still have the original one though. The "L" in the grill can be removed (its actually not attached) - if you find out what connections are behind the badge on yours then consider the requirements for fitting this into the space where the "L" is Fitting is easy and the fit is exact -

I am not too keen on using parts from ebay as I am not convinced the parts are always genuine - take the spark plugs that have been found to be fake in the past - just cheap enough to be thinking you are getting a good deal but not too dear to make you think they are not worth buying. I would rather, with certain items, buy genuine as if you are putting in a fake part, take the plugs as an example, £50 for the plugs may cost you £££££'s in repairs due to failures. Not saying they are all fakes but its wise to be careful - the genuine sellers as mentioned above are best to deal with such as Lex Birmingham / Sheffield etc. or use a recognised dealer or outlet. Filters etc fine, I would use these but plugs, oils etc I would be wary of. Realising the fitted parts are fake after a failure, would an ebay seller have the means to refund the cost of the repair to the car if found out it was their parts that were supplied that caused the issue - more than likely possible from a main dealer or other main store outlet I would have thought...

Depends upon what sort of miles you are going to do in it - really, whats 25k worth (£500) as that's the real difference apart from the colour of interior and exterior. The silver one is pre-facelift, the black one is the face lift model. The black one will need new plugs in 10k miles (£600 replaced by Lexus unless you do them yourself or find an indie to do) a further 10 k miles and you are into water pump and sensor replacement territory ... Have they both had the recalls done? (airbag and fuel seal) - to be honest, I do like the dark interior but if its a keeper and for future value the low mileage one would be better.

One point to mention - if the alloys are badly corroded - may be noticeable on the outside but really bad on the inside, this may lead to the tyre not holding pressure as the corrosion on the inside will slowly push the tyre away from its seal so check the pressures look ok (35 on front / 38 on rears) A refurb will be around 200-300 for the 4 wheels.

I would like to do a service on this car I have now - was a while ago that I done the service on the last one before it was written off but between that time and now, the two stores I used to buy the parts from have ceased trading. I had a K&N oiled air filter on the car that lasted the 5 years I had it. I will probably buy another as they do last and considering the paper ones are around £20 I think it makes sense cost wise. (as I have not bought a paper one before, is that the cost these days?) I have sorted the oil as I have always used the Magnatec and happy to continue - the oil filter and pollen filter I can find at eurocarparts but these too seem to have gone up in price - where does everyone else buy their parts from? I have also noticed another web site that uses an identical web platform for car parts. Are "Carparts4less" and "eurocarparts" one of the same? I have gone off using ebay a bit really due to all the counterfeits out there as you cant be sure whats genuine these days unless buying from a trusted store..

List of questions above I would not write the low miler out - its not been used as intended but if your not in a rush to check it over then it may be a good buy. Mines a 2006 on 26k - the only issue I have found is the rear screen heater wires are dry and brittle and I have been over the whole car now and to date just put 1k on it since I bought it. If its been garaged it will be a good deal, you need to consider the basics of the car...... the service where its been looked after by ensuring service parts are done, then consider the others at the MOT. You will need to check the basics that these two areas (service and MOT) don't check. Bodywork to some extent, the electrics such as DVD player, tilt reverse mirrors, rear blind, parking sensors. Also, if you can, compare both headlights while on to see if the colours match. Exhaust - if you can, just see if you can look at the general condition - mines not rusted at all but was garaged, I know this makes no difference as they rot from inside out but expensive to replace. One recommendation, when you buy one, do a service on it and get used to doing it yourself, its not hard. I really recommend you change the oil so you know its been done with the correct grade. Check belts and re-grease the pins. Do this irregardless of anyone telling you its been done. Also ensure the filters are clean.

What size of wheels are fitted on the car?
-
A local garage fits mine - been going there for years and always had good prices. I asked them to match what was on the car but they couldn't this time - they did put a Kumho Ecsta on but it was a newer version. £65 fitted - they are £62 on Black circles. Can you find a small tyre business and ask them to get the tyres in and fit...alternitavely, have your choice of tyres delivered to a centre to fit.

Damage to side panel
is200 Newbie replied to Omegajb's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Paint marks usually come off using an IPA liquid and not damage the paint. Do the car parks have liability in this instance?
