Well, all this talk of security devices, to protect what is probably our second most expensive investment, quite frankly is disgraceful. We put or trust and faith in purchasing, what for the motoring press, is a left field choice, a Lexus. I feel we are entitled to be annoyed, angry and let down by the brand. Not only has our investment dropped frighteningly in value, and we are raped by the Insurance industry, we now appear to have many RX450h owners suffering fear and anxiety, and talking about extreme lengths to protect their vehicles. Where are you LEXUS, are you proud of your response to your loyal customers, because I fear you may be losing more customers customers than Rishi Sunak votes! We have paid a lot of our hard earned cash to purchase one of your vehicles, we have paid additional cash out to add immobilisers, cameras, steering locks, and have a right to expect better while you are sitting on your hands.

Tyres...
larryadler replied to GSLV6's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Earlier this year I had an unrepairable puncture in one of my original Dunlops, but none were available in the U.K. I searched, read reviews, and compared the construction of tyres etc, and went for the Yokohama Blue Earth. In fact not only would I recommend this tyre, but when my Dunlops need changing, these will be my tyre of choice. I paid £177 from Mr Tyre, if that helps. -
A question please if I may. A friend of mine has owned both a Tesla 3 dual motor for two years, and currently owns a Kia Niro EV. He has never had either vehicle serviced as the dealers say servicing is not necessary, obviously reducing running costs. I am aware, as an RX owner, that Lexus/ Toyota offer a 10 year warranty, subject to service at main dealer. Equally, Tesla offered 4 year warranty, and Kia 7 years, but it appears not conditional on any service schedule. So, what is the requirement for RZ servicing, and any idea of cost implications at Lexus,.

I couldn’t have put it better myself Paul, a spot on assessment. I did watch some motoring guru on YouTube last week, and when asked if EV’s were the future, he stated, No, EV’s are the present, who knows what the future holds, sound words too.

I had the above fitted by my dealer from new when picking up my vehicle. That was almost two years ago, and not sure how long the SD card actually lasts? The current card is obviously a Nextbase original, and 32gb, which gives 2 hours recording with front and rear cameras. Whilst a replacement Nextbase SD card, 32gb is now about £20, I can get a Sandisk equivalent at 64 or 128 both cheaper than the Nextbase one. So I ask the question, has anyone used an alternative card, and any comments on the results ?

Well there we go then, what does this actually say, I think you’re ahead of me? This confirms that electric vehicles are the future ( as long as you don’t want to go very far) and if you shell out you wedge of cash for an RZ or a UX electric, when you go on your holidays, Lexus will give you a Hybrid vehicle free of charge, for up to 42 days, because you EV ain’t gonna get you there without multiple charging. Both vehicle already have 0% finance and £2k off, now it’s a free hybrid as an inducement to purchase. Is this not, a clear admission that the future, at this present time, is not electric, except in certain circumstances, ie short journeys, and local trips. This new Lexus Reserve I am sure will be beneficial to certain people, but what a pee take!

Yes Paul, I have just tried Lexus Insurance, but they have declined to quote! I have had quotes from One Call, there underwriter is Covea, but again they lay of the risk across several insurers. Thanks for you info re Tesco, that was my fear from the reviews, and those on Which, so I will bite the bullet and go with NFU, as it’s more than I have ever paid for insurance in my life, but it does give peace of mind, and hopefully the prices may ease next year if Lexus comes up with this anticipated software fix, and the mark stops getting nicked. I suspect your Lexus insurance quote may be better due to you location as well, that said I have maximum NCB, and no conviction history, strange time we live in. The only conciliation is that my fully comp Mazda MX5 insurance was £161 this year. You win some, you lose some 🥴

Thanks Paul, I have two quotes, Tesco Gold policy £1062 or NFU at £1246, not really interested in the broker quotes with multiple Lloyds backed companies. It’s just deciding on which one. I know NFU are No1, but Tesco policy is very good, but because they are such a huge business, the reviews include all other fields so no just car insurance. It would be nice to here from anyone who has had to avail themselves of the claims procedures and efficiency.
-
Yes indeed, Paul, the small print is most important. I think there are two types of purchasers of car insurance, those who get a great cheap quote, and are well pleased with the price, and nowt wrong with that, I’m all for it, but, it’s when you need to make claim that the price of that policy may come back and bite you. Then there are those, my self included, who (saddo) do read the policy, and in particular the exclusions. I am prepared, ( not willingly) to pay the higher premium for more peace of mind, that should I need the benefits, they will be dealt with efficiently. My two quote are Tesco and NFU, who are £220 more expensive than Tesco. NFU are a ‘Which’ No1 provider, whereas Tesco offer an excellent policy, but don’t even appear on the list. As the saying goes, you pays your money p, you takes your choice, buy cheap, buy twice!

How fickle this insurance business is, thanks for the lead, I did try Chris Knott today, but, they could only place my risk with Covea Insurance, at in excess of £3000. Harry took all my details, and I thought was doing okay, but at no point was I asked if I would pay any voluntary excess, and it ain’t my job to do his for him. Had enough now, sticking with Tesco or NFU!

Too true Ronnie, I’ve been doing research on the internet, and it’s surprising how many insurance companies are owned by the big boys in the industry. One thing I have found out to my surprise, is the Comparison sites are also owned by insurance companies, so not as neutral as you may think. It is proving more difficult to identify who owns what in that sector, not so ‘ Simple’s’ excuse the pun 🤣😂 The Lexus is an expensive bit of kit, so I think I will bite the bullet, take the hit and go with NFU!
-
Mmm, yes I can believe that in this day and age! The companies you relate to are Equity Red Star, and Highway, are Lloyds backed companies. That means the insurer lays off your risk between several insurance companies within the Lloyds so no one company takes the full hit of any claim. This process can take longer to resolve as they all need to talk with each other. I know ERS do get reasonable reviews, Highway, not sure, but thanks for the heads up .
-
Thanks for the information Ed, they certainly have a lot of good reviews. Just out of interest, who do Chris Knott place their business with , ie, which insurance companies, and does anyone have any information re claims efficiency etc. I note they seem to favour Owners Club members, but we ain’t on their list, I wonder why that is, as it appears they are getting business from the LOC , and from the reviews, probably better that Lexus insurance?

There also appears to be evidence on here that they weren’t ! Nothing is immune to being nicked, if they want it, they will take it. You can have all the security devices you wish, but like you biggest assets, they are only as as secure as a pane of glass, be it home or vehicle, and with us no longer having a worthwhile Police service( too busy dealing with offended people) your chances of any recompense rely on a crime number, and insurance claim!
