  1. Below is a comprehensive answer posted in Jan 2015 by LOC member ChumpusRex It is because of the fuel injection and ECU setup, and the IS being a rare car, that no one has bothered making a kit for it. There are plenty of DI cars out there which have LPG conversion kits available. Direct injected conversions are mechanically easier than normal conversions, because you don't need any mechanical engine mods - like gas injectors, vaporisers, etc. Direct injection systems work at super high pressure normally, and at these pressures, the LPG will be a liquid, so flow, pump and inject just like petrol. You just connect the LPG pipe to the engine's fuel pump via a selector valve (for petrol or LPG) and the LPG goes through the normal pump and injectors. However, like all fuel injected LPG conversions, you need an ECU remap because of differences in combustion between LPG and petrol. The difference with DI, is that the ECU has a lot more control, and therefore you need a much more complicated remap. Designing an ECU map is a ton of skilled work, especially on modern DI ECUs which can have up to 250,000 different individual parameters to tweak. I'm guessing that there has been no demand for the tuning companies to develop an LPG map for the IS250. In fact, I've not seen anyone offer a remap for the IS250 for anything - probably because of the complexity of the system, and the fact that Lexus have strong security systems on their ECUs to prevent unauthorised re-mapping.
  2. If you go onto Profess in South Wales website, insert all your details and they will tell if it cam be done or not, you can believe what they tell you. Mike. http://www.professautogas.co.uk/index.php/about-us/quick-quote
  3. Simple math - LPG - 1l ~0.65/Petrol - 1l ~1.10. Car will used 20% more LPG, hence that weighted prices would be respectively: 0.78/110 I only pay 48p per litre and I get 30MPG For me whole idea sounds fishy... buying premium car and trying to save on petrol .. nahhhh There are many reason why people chose to run their cars on LPG 1. Its far kinder on the environment we live in. 2. Its also alot kinder on your engines as there are not the pollutants in LPG that are in petrol and shorten the life of your engines and its component parts. 3. No millionaire became a millionaire by throwing money away when there are cheaper alternatives. Cheap LPG cowboy systems never pay off in any instance. If its a cowboy system just chuck the money straight down a drain it will save you alot of time and worry. If you do your sums again with a more realistic price for LPG you might see a different picture. Mike.
  4. She who has to be obeyed said It has been a difficult 5 weeks, but I am so relieved I have her back and running so smooth quiet and powerful. Happy Days. Mike.
  5. At 2 in the morning waiting for the pain killers to kick in anything will do. No it was the Landlord who was driving the Lexus. Mike.
  6. I am with the RAC and have been for more years than I care to remember but as a disabled driver they promise to get to me within 30mins, most often or not its a lot sooner than that. I have to call them for tyre changes and they are always happy & cheerful. Mike.
  7. Anybody see the above last night. Some poor Landlord trying to get his house back after the tenant pays not rent drives a nice MK3 LS400. in grey.
  8. The tank I have sticks up about 3" above the boot floor but that doesn't bother me, so if you want a level floor you would take the 72 liter tank. Mike.
  9. I will have to go into the paper work to find the original Invoice and I will post it on the thread when I have found it, I have a feeling its around 84liters. Mike.
  10. Its always good to praise a business when we receive brilliant service something which is often forgotten. Well done Lexus Canterbury. Mike.
  11. Shes back and running like a new baby. I got lost on the way back, I am not sure what happened, must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Took me 45 miles to get home, garage is only 4 miles away. I am just so happy. Mike.
  12. I can go to 75 liters in my doughnut tank. I wont allow it to run out of gas as I loathe paying what they want for petrol.
  13. Mine just clicks off when they have filled it, yes they fill it up for you but its not a petrol forecourt its a Calor Gas center. Mike.
  14. Great looking car, bet shes great to drive. Mike.
  15. Not yet Mikey, thread doctor is coming tomorrow to sort the threads on the manifold end of the Cats and then I will truly be back in heaven. Cant wait. Mike.
  16. That's the very install I have on my Lexus. whats wrong with it?
  17. Both have been replaced, made sense to me. Below shows the nuts from the cat, left one OK the right ones had a melt down. Demonstrates just how hot the cat got.
  18. Mean and moody looking.
  19. Dont forget to keep the warranty live they have to do the servicing as they have set out. Mike.
  20. A very kind offer but its not up to me its not my company I just champion it because I have always found their work 1st class as is their knowledge on LPG systems. The price is around the same at Profess and all done in 8hrs. The biggest problem at Profess is no matter even if you did have an interpreter her customer service skills are so appalling they translate in a negative way no matter what language you use. Mike.
  21. Trouble is you would need someone who could also translate into her mother tongue and translators cost a lot of money. There is also translating technical language into the mother tongue as well, that can be a nightmare. We just have to be patient. Their installs are 2nd to none and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Mike.
  22. Hi Tim and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. I cant help with your present queries but I'm sure someone will be along ASAP. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Regards Mike.
  23. Hi Andrew and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Regards Mike
  24. Ever tried Newspaper? you will be surprised. Mike.
  25. Profess still owned by Mr. Andrzej Wojcicki. Sadly Andrew is a guest of Her Majesty Hotels Group and even I have to admit that his wife is useless at talking to her fellow human beings and she has no business sense what so ever that said they still have the same skilled workforce and I know of two installs they in the last 12 months that were done without any dramas and are running without any problem. Andrew should be back at the helm Feb/March next year. Andrews wifes biggest problem is that she just doesn't understand English at all, the staff are afraid of her so they are nervous as to give her any direction. Her personality is typical of an eastern European women and does not posses the communication skills that you would expect from a western European. They are hot on just who gets free service for life and it is subject to you making sure you get the LPG serviced once a year, this can either be done by going there or using your lap top and lugging into the LPG computer. Its very rare that anything needs doing other than tech adjustments which they can do over the internet. Any filter are popped in the post and you can change them yourself. You do need to keep a record of visits either in person or over the internet and then there can be no arguments as to service record. All will be back to normal when Andrew eventually gets back. Anyone can write feedback on any one in Google it does not have to be true. There is a lot of back biting in the LPG industry where they leave spurious feedback on their competitors so don't believe everything that is said. Hurry back Andrew we need you. Mike.
