  1. They are slowly catching on that messing with the mileage now we can check so easily on the MOT register is a difficult thing to do. He will have to bring the price down now. Hopefully he will lose money. Mike.
  2. Cant see any mileage discrepancies. Hes declaring 260000 and that matches the MOT. Mike. I live not to far from this garage so if anyone would like a closer look I am happy to nip over there. Mike.
  3. "not as mint as you might think either" Dealers, no matter what they sell you can never believe them. I saw on my Lap Top newspaper that the SC was voted the worst car ever. Most unfair.
  4. I will send Steve an email. Mike.
  5. It is very over the top on price. It has passed 1st time every MOT it went in for and its a 1 owner car. I would seriously consider this one but the price would need to drop.
  6. The other thing to remember is that should you go with repairing the insurance co will have it CAT registered at the DVLA no matter how much you pay for the repairs. Legally the car is still yours and is yours until you tell the insurance co you dont want it so if you do want it make the garage get your car back from the breakers. Mike.
  7. Hi John and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. We always like to see pictures of members cars so don't be shy. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Regards Mike
  8. Lets hope they get to see this before they have bought it rather than after. I have sent them two questions, 1. Can you send me a picture of the service history showing clearly the mileages in the service book. 2. Can they explain why there is a difference in the mileage showing on the DVLA MOT site and what they are declaring the mileage to be. I also told them that I had checked other cars they had for sale and also those that they had sold and nearly all of them have the same discrepancy in mileage. I haven't heard anything back yet. Mike.
  9. Get a bigger tank fitted. If it does run to empty it will just change back to petrol automatically. I have run mine and my wife's cars on LPG for well over 17 years. We have always just kept a mileage check so when it gets near to empty we fill up. Before the tank will switch over you should get a warning beep that you are very low, I still get another 30/40 miles out of her before she switches. In all those years we have never had an accurate meter telling us what is left in the tank. Its no big deal. Mike.
  10. If you know your way around the engine management systems then it a piece of cake. Check out You Tubes there are loads of posts on how to do it.

  12. They wont be able to get away with it in the way you suggest. These guys like to take tens of thousands of miles off and it will soon register on the MOT register that something is wrong. What I would like to see is investigations by DVLA when cars turn up with suspicious mileage, especially if the same names keep popping up with them. It would be impossible to come up with a system that couldn't be tampered with, there is always someone who can come up with a solution to get round it. Bank cards are a case in point. Ever since bank cards first came out the banks have said its impossible to to crack the security on their latest card then go and stick their heads in the sand while the criminals fund their lavish lifestyle on other peoples money.
  13. With public access to the MOT register it will also become impossible for Dodgy Dave and all his mates to clock cars as they are beginning to find out. Cant think why this facility was not made earlier.
  14. Hi Sai and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. 15. If you check the other cars they have for sale and also those that have completed you will find the same mileage discrepancies keep appearing. Once can be an accident twice is something that possibly needs to be looked into three and above there is criminality taking place and this is the catagory they fall into.
  16. Interesting article in todays (Sat 16th July) Sun newspaper. DOZENS of firms are offering to slash cars’ mileage in a modern version of the “clocking” scam. Mechanics ask as little as £40 to knock tens of thousands of miles off digital odometers and boost resale values. It does not break the law because while knowingly selling a clocked car is fraud, it is not illegal to alter the odometer’s mileage. Business Minister Anna Soubry yesterday pledged a law change to close the loophole. She said: “I congratulate The Sun on this important investigation. I am grateful. We will stop it.” Clocking used to be common because it was easy to manually alter mechanical odometers. The dawn of digital meters was supposed to have ended it. But experts now say up to ten per cent of the UK’s 32 million vehicles may be clocked. The Sun’s research suggests up to 100 UK firms can digitally roll back mileage. Our investigators asked four companies to clock a car so it could be sold for more money. Each one agreed. Car firms say there are legitimate reasons for “mileage correction” — such as odometer damage. FIRMS across Britain are openly offering mileage “clocking”, a Sun investigation has found. The dubious practice — which lowers a car’s dashboard reading and raises its resale value — costs as little as £40 but can add thousands to its second-hand value. It can also help motorists to cheat on their PCP finance deals. However, a legal loophole means the practice only becomes illegal if the owner or mileage clocker sells the car or gains personally from not declaring the figure has been altered — so the business is being touted openly. Once a car is clocked it can be impossible to detect the changes without highly specialised equipment. Firms say there can be legitimate reasons for “mileage correction” services — such as odometer damage or the car’s mileage count being slightly out from the actual distance covered. Motor checking firms estimate that out of a total of 32million registered vehicles on Britain’s roads there could be between 1.6 million and three million cars with their mileage clocked back. Up to 100 UK firms are offering the service, though the EU has vowed to ban the practice altogether by 2018. PCP — or personal contract purchase — is an increasingly popular way to buy a car and involves paying in instalments, during which time the car still belongs to a finance company and is strictly limited to a maximum annual mileage. The customer is “fined” up to 50p for every mile above their limit, making clocking a tempting prospect.
  17. Hi Liam and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. We always like to see pictures of members cars so don't be shy. Great looking car. 18. They sell loads of computer stuff so they are probably well clued up on getting into the brains of cars to alter the mileages.
  19. Mine has an 85 litre tank and I get around 70/73 liters depending on the temp. Mike.
  20. I checked some more of their cars and they all have the same mileage discrepancy so stay away from this bunch of untrustworthy sellers.
  21. If you put the item number in the ebay search box 122045615711 it still comes up and is still live. MOT history shows that over 10 years its done barely 800 miles.so its sat around alot. One year it did 1 mile. Year 2011 2012 7th/8th August it passed the MOT twice in one day, MOT1 mileage 58,980. 2nd MOT mileage 31565 just one mile further on from the year before. I am beginning to get that farmyard smell. I have a feeling that this has been on before and when I asked about the MOT mileage it disappeared. Anyone going for it be very careful. Mike. They also have a Merc on Ebay with an MOT history mileage starts at 108,205 Feb 2007 then in June 2007 the mileage is 80,099 Ebay ID# 122045586927.

  23. I bought mine a couple of months ago from these and all is OK. PayPal pretty good at getting back monies, you just have to wait to let them investigate which takes time after which you will get your monies back. Mike.
