I am paying 44p a litre at the moment so its still a no brainer. Plus of course LPG is much kinder on your engine and your saving the planet as the exhaust is nothing like as polluted as petrol and diesel fumes. LPG conversion is a long term investment and if your the sort of person that changes their car every couple of years then unless your doing super high mileages your not going to save, most Lexus LS owners tend to be long term owners so it makes sense Servicing costs are minmal I have a computer lead that plugs into my laptop and then online to Profess who can do any software changes instantly and if filters are needed they just pop them in the post and I change them over which takes 2 mins. If injectors or something bigger needs doing I would take it down to them but 6 years of running this Profess system it has never gone wrong and covered around 60,000 miles. Mike.

Today is the first time I have looked at their website and it is clear that they have had a complete redesign of their web site. I dont have time to go through their entire site to see if they have left in or taken out the bits that gave you the impression they were government backed. The old site left you in no doubt that they were government appointed which was unture then and its untrue today. However just looking and reading one or two bits and pieces does leave the uneducated/unwary that unless you do what they advise your going to be left with a car that you cant insure or that you haqve a dangerous installation and that again is pulling the wool over peoples eyes and conning them. I dont like anyone that sets themselves up as the sherrif over anything mainly because history shows that they were in it for one reason and that was themselves. This I believe is true of UKLPG. You pays your money you makes your choice. There is chapter and verse on UKLPG in the archives including very unhappy LOC members who had installations done by UKLPG members, you might find it informative having a look through them, as for me I have said all I am going to say on this subject. If Profess are doing that now then it must be because they dont have as many staff as they used to. They always made a fantasticly neat job of installing my LPG cars and my friends, second to none. As for the certificate some insurance companies ask for I always showed them the invoice and certificate that Profess gave me and I never had a problem. As LPG is so much more common its something insurance comapanies are happy to accept. There are still some insurance companies that wont insure an LPG car but there are becoming less and less. There is nothing wrong with trying to set yourself up as the Sherrif over looking the LPG industry but what is wrong is pulling the wool over peoples eyes as to exactly who and what they are and what power they actually have, trying to make you and insurance companies think that they are government backed is fraudulent. You and I have as much sway over the industry as they do They are in it for themselves and have nothing to do with trying to ensure that the LPG industry raises its game, thats why I say they are con artists. You have your point of view and I have mine. Some of the most complained about installations on this forum come from LPG installers that are supposidly UKLPG accredited installers and when it came to getting help from UKLPG there wasnt a lot of good will about. Mike.

What the LPG world needs is a system which is used in the home for gas that unless you are registered with a government agencies that legaly oversees the LPG world then the cowboys will continue to thrive. Meanwhile the likes of UKLPG continue to con everyone that unless you have one of their useless bits of paper your wasting your money. Why is it so difficult to govern with good old fashioned common sense. Mike

I have never had a problem with them, they have done 3 cars for me and I have several friends who also have had their cars done and all have given years of trrouble free motoring. Dont forget they will only take a day to install and lend you a car while they are doing it. No I dont own Profess but I always believe in shouting about good service rather than just shouting when things go bad. Mike

Cant see the point in spending £1200 on a car with 300,000 miles on it when you can spend the same amount of money on a car with around 100,000 on the clock. It may be just a phycological thing but the 300k is only as good as it has been treated where as if you bought a 100k example the likelyhood is that you will have a full service history and if you keep the car untill its done 300k at least you will know how well you have kept up the servicing over the years. Its not just the engine and gearbox you have to worry about. We all know how exspensive Lexus parts are for the steering and suspension. Cars with massive mileages in the States are a completely different animal to the same car doing that sort of mileage over here because of the road structure they have in the States. There roads are also in far better condition to the roads in the UK. We cant even drive on a motorway over here without shaking all the fillings from your teeth. Mike

errrrrrr no Brian! actually not yet fitted LPG system and was going to go with single point as had it on Merc and seen Lexus with over 300k on a single point a while back. This said, although I've got the parts, its not the time of year to fit it (Garage too small) and with petrol prices (if temporarily) declining, I may not make the change at all. I wouldn't be confident to fit a multipoint system myself so cost wise I'm dithering, especially as still got wishbones on advisory and yet to understand why it took half a day to get the car through emissions at the garage for the MOT end last year. Plenty of expense yet to come for the old girl but eventually it'll be the Car I'm happy with. The plugs change was to eliminate possibly the emissions problem, and thought it a good idea to prepare for possible changeover to LPG. They are still Ok as supplied at 1.00mm gap. Hi Stuart - I would not fit a single point system even if you could get one. A pal did on a 400, years ago and it caused him big problems and a head rebuild because some of the valves carboned up. I have done more than 100K miles with a multi-point system with almost no probs. Cheers Bren Multi points are they way to go. Mike

Who did you purchase the latest Falkens from as that is a brilliant price. The only time I have seen a tyre that ended up like the one in the pictured was driven while the tyre was flat. Jewellers Rouge ? This is used on glass with very fine scratches and even then you will need to make sure you have plenty of Wheetabix for breakfast and have plenty of patience, if you have deep scratching you could be there for months trying to get rid of them. LPG at our local fillup is 55p plus less an extra 9p off on an accumulator promotion, next time we get an extra 10p off and then it back to 1p and so on. Laugh? I am in stitches every time I pay. Mike -
I would very politely show them the facts and explain your confidence in them has taken a nose dive after 5 years of excellent service, would they like to investigate what went wrong for them to reach the conclusion they gave you. Remember to be friendly and polite all the way through and just see what happens. Mike.

Good advice young man, the equipment is only as good as the operater. All this has made me order new Falkens for fitting this afternoon. Be interesting to see if the road noise reduces. I have used Falken for years and they are great, I believe they are a direct replacement of the original tyres that are no longer made but are still made by Dunlops so they are a quality tyre. Mike

This problem has been discussed at length in the past and I seem to remember that the setup according to the manufactueres spec needs modifying. I dont remember when iut was but global moderator Steve may be able to point you in the correct direction. One further thing I would say is that just because company has a computerised 4 wheel alignment machine dont run away with the idea they know how to operate it. Quite often when they buy the equipment they also have a technician trained upped to operate it he leaves and thats when the rot sets in. Also in the historic thread it named a business and technician that knew exactly how these systems work inside out. I think that the problem lies with the Steering geometry rather than alignment and there a 2 bolts which seize up and these companies wont force it to much in case the bolt breaks so they say nothing, the pretty print out shows all the right colours for alignment but you are still left with the same problem as far as the steering geometry is concerned. Of course I am old and could have dreamed all that up but hopefully there is some truth in it somewhere. Sorry I cant be of anymore help. Mike

So now we want an LOC member to check this car out! It interested me, but is over 5 hours away! Dont shoot me down in flames if I am wrong but I have a feeling this one has been looked at before. One thing I noticed imeadiately from the pictures is the the steering wheel center is grey but the steering wheel is blue. See pic 1900. This could mean its had an accident and the airbag has gone off and this is all they could replace it with. Bags go off I believe in accidents 30MPH and above. The picture that shows the speedo cluster shows that the engine is running at around 1200rpm and that there is a warning light showing but not sure which warning light that is. In the picture #1909 you can see where the top of the front bumper meets the front OS wing under the indicator looks to be a different colour. It may just be a trick of the light but in the picture it does notice. Check the same postion on the N/S it looks to be a different colour there as well but not as pronounced. Might be worth ringing them and putting these points to them see what they say. Mike
