Mot Time
Bluesman replied to cilgwynbaby's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Got my Lexie MOT yesterday and she passed with two advisories 2 front tyres getting close for change. Have got a complete set of new Falkens I just need to get the wheels refurbished and the other advisory was all discs could do with replacing over the next year. These will be replaced on her next service. So yet another year of fantastic, happy motoring to look forward to. Mike -
Just tested it, and it has changed in appearance recently, by the look of it, but if anything, it gives even more detail now. https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla Just click start now button, then put reg no and make and all will be revealed (hopefully!!}. Cheers Mikey, never been into that page before. Mike

I looked into it recently with the help of William (LOC member) who lives in Eire and its just a paper excersise I didnt go ahead because William kindly went and saw the car and it was a case of "all that glitters" Mike Interesting. Is that BilMac, who has a very nice 430? And is the car he looked at for you still on offer? Presumably this big tax is hitting 400s too. I am only looking at the 430 as my research suggests it has the best headroom. Jon Hi Jon, Yes thats Bilmac, sorry should have put his LOC ID. I have no idea if the LS he went to look at for me is still available, I just know that William said it was a complete basket case. Mike

When he declined my suggestion that I send a mobile mechanic round at my expense I came to the same conclusion. Could be wrong. I am currently thinking Ireland offers the best value, as 1800 euro a year for tax is a killer for older vehicles. but john isnt it false economy becuase you have to pay import duty tax vat ec? No. I have spoken to the DVLA and as it's EU there is no problem. Plus a lot of the Eire cars were originally bought in UK, and she told me you just get your original reg. back when you register it. There seem to be almost as many LS430s for sale in Ireland as there are in the UK at present. However if anyone on the forum has ever imported a car from Ireland I would be delighted to hear from them.Nothing beats personal experience. Hes playing around with you. The cxar is sold and I have just checked the revisions to the description and one of the last changes was the price which originaly showed £1350 he has changed that to £2350, great tactics as it revalues all our LS's. 12-Feb-15 20:59:41 GMT Advertised price Gallery Title PictureURL: Pictures Added/Deleted Description 12-Feb-15 21:00:28 GMT Description He can do that because all his lots are classified ads and dosent attract a final valuation fee. Still looks as though hes writing his own feedback. Mike

Great character is Guy Martin, and he is into cars, infact a very retro fast one ...............http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2790676/fastest-car-britain-grey-1967-volvo-daredevil-s-supercharged-family-estate-car-hit-205mph-thanks-788-horsepower-engine.html B) B) B) Paul, Good to know that Guy is an all round decent car nut. He is like an updated version of Fred Dibnah. A no nonsense bloke who likes things mechanical and total lack of bulls**t. I wonder if Fred could have got one of his traction engines to go over 200mph I dont think speed ever came into Freds ideas. RIP Fred still love watching you on Sky. Mike.

I remember seeing in an LPG forum where the car was running on both at the same time and despite being told by a couple of LPG installers thats impossible it cant happen eventually he found an LPG engineer that new what he was doing and indeed it did turn out he was running on both at the same time. Might not be the same problem that you are experiencing but maybe worth a look at. Mike.

I tried 1st Choice recently for some bits, got one breakers who had what I wanted, emailed yjem and asked to see a picture and got a very terse reply, "picture on web site" when I looked it was the right colour so rang them and got told it was a different colour and it wouldnt be in for a couple of days. I just hung up. Mike

Now you see why I mentioned deja vu Mike, you actually started three threads, not just two. Thought I'd tell you, so you don't think you're losing it completely!! I dont know how I have done that Mikey but thanks for telling me. I have asked Steve when he sees it to cancel it. Must go as matrons coming round with the tablets. Mike.

10 out of 10 for someone that knows how to advertise a car with plenty of pics and info. I hope they get as close to the asking price and before I am shot down in flames remember for every car that is sold for good money will have the affect of raising the value on your own beloved Lexus. What a great looking car, showroom condition. Mike.

Foster or Kidd program can do without either. Mike Could have sworn I edited that name.

I think you mean Jodie Kidd Another senior momment and thats at the start of the day. Mike There are two stages to senior moments. It starts with stage 1, where you get to the top of the stairs and then can't remember what you went upstairs for. Stage 2 is where you have to pause for breath half-way up the stairs, and then can't remember if you were going up, or down. ;) lol ha ha - is there a stage 3? Probably when you rediscover the free bus pass you have, get on the 1st bus that arrives, get off at its final destination and you have no idea where you are,how you got there or where you originally came from :) We havent had a bus route where I live in the last 40 years, thats why there are so many oldies wandering around the countryside not having a clue where they are going, we are called, yokels.

So now we know, if anyone wants any advice, whether car, pets, gardening or even relationship advice, post it in the LS forum. BTW, anyone know when to prune fuscias..... You can clip them back now but dont be to hard, but prune all the dead wood. In the next 4/6 weeks they will start budding. just water them lightly and put outside once all risk of frost as gone, not a problem with the hardy varieties.
