Trouble is that they are quite likely to kill others too. Speed is not the killer, it is the idiots who drive beyond their capabilities and don't take note of road/traffic/weather conditions as well as the car/motorcycle they are supposed to be in control of.
Thats a good point. I suggest a good statistician needs to be consulted to see how many people have been in vehicles travelling at 70mph and at 100mph and seen how many survived in accidents to see how much difference it actually makes, if any
The only time I have ever been in a car at 100+ mph was in an Audi Quattro full rally spec and it was driven by Stig Blomqvist, it was mainly on mud and the 100mph going around the corners we were doing well in excess of 100mph on the straighter bits of the track at Brands Hatch. I had been lucky enough to be invited to a press day when the sport was still taking off. Whats it like in a car like that on mud? terrifying, watching Stig Blomqvist work peddles. steering the throttle and hand brake all at the same time was poetry in motion. After the 2nd lap I calmed down and enjoyed what was left of the ride. I fell in love with the sound of that 5 cylinder engine so much so I went and bought one a few years later and I loved that engine. Mike.
