  1. Unbelievable temperatures up there on the east coast. Mike.
  2. I have seen this question come up before and the outcome was that it wasn't worth doing as it was quite expensive. Soon as the LS430 came on the market it went to a DVD based system. Mike.
  3. They have it listed as a 1994, looks as though you have found a good one. Good luck Mike.
  4. What a shame to see such a great car just sitting there doing nothing. Perhaps he would like to donate it to me and I promise to give her a well looked after new forever home. Mike.
  5. I bought a set of plates from them last year and it was no problem, didn't have to produce any ID. Mike
  6. Here you go this is where I got my plates from http://www.myshowplates.com/number-plate-designer.asp?gclid=CjwKEAjw9PioBRDdpqy0- ofG3DgSJAACe5NEHA0II1cbHgD40fY9aNfgwlSk4Qut802DoHVInlSvdhoCO0nw_wcB
  7. Don't forget if you go to a number plate supplier you will need a couple of bits of ID, utility bills, passport etc. I always get mine online. As long as you order before 4pm you get them the next day & no messing around with all sorts of ID. Mike. But the online guys need ID and registration sending in :( I have never encountered that ever. Mike
  8. My 16 year old MK4 LS400 has no rattles. Mike.
  9. Don't forget if you go to a number plate supplier you will need a couple of bits of ID, utility bills, passport etc. I always get mine online. As long as you order before 4pm you get them the next day & no messing around with all sorts of ID. Mike.
  10. Go into "Settings" on the screen and pick "Setup" and the "Adjust clock" jobs done. Mike
  11. I thought that might translate into KPH but that comes up with even weirder numbers. Mike.
  12. Sods law Mike but this is the 4th battery in 9 years the last one that just failed was purchased from Lexus Derby with a 3 year warranty, I have every other receipt for the car but this one and I suspect it is still under warranty. It may be lack of use causing the premature failures, car spends more time in the garage than on the road. Lexus Derby must have a record of them selling you the battery. Four batteries in 9 years seems excessive. Mike
  13. My battery was 15 years old when it finally died. Cant grumble I suppose. Mike
  14. Welcome Thomas and here's to many happy motoring smiles ahead of you. Mike.
  15. Hi Matt and welcome to the LOC. We are a friendly bunch and some of us are very knowledgeable about the finest car ever made. I am pleased you had a pleasant experience with Lexuschap, unlike the guy who bought an LS of him that lost in excess of 100,000 miles in the few hours from the moment he bought it and Lexuschap presenting it on Ebay. Mike.
  16. Literally takes an hour to clean things up, its because the people doing it are incompetent and stand around with a finger up their backside. Doesnt help that communication sucks when these things happen. The time at the scene of an accident/collision takes time due to the need to investigate the matter, render first aid et al. With the cameras that are around today I cannot see any reason why one of their extremely expensive helicopters cant spend 10 to 15 mins flying over the crash site taking high definition pictures from various points of view which then can be used to work out what ever they need to and marry that up with the witness statements and whatever the wrecks can tell them back in the garage. There is no need in this modern day and age to have half a police force stood there doing nothing and blocking roads for hours sometimes days at a time. Mike.
  17. Trouble is that they are quite likely to kill others too. Speed is not the killer, it is the idiots who drive beyond their capabilities and don't take note of road/traffic/weather conditions as well as the car/motorcycle they are supposed to be in control of. Thats a good point. I suggest a good statistician needs to be consulted to see how many people have been in vehicles travelling at 70mph and at 100mph and seen how many survived in accidents to see how much difference it actually makes, if any The only time I have ever been in a car at 100+ mph was in an Audi Quattro full rally spec and it was driven by Stig Blomqvist, it was mainly on mud and the 100mph going around the corners we were doing well in excess of 100mph on the straighter bits of the track at Brands Hatch. I had been lucky enough to be invited to a press day when the sport was still taking off. Whats it like in a car like that on mud? terrifying, watching Stig Blomqvist work peddles. steering the throttle and hand brake all at the same time was poetry in motion. After the 2nd lap I calmed down and enjoyed what was left of the ride. I fell in love with the sound of that 5 cylinder engine so much so I went and bought one a few years later and I loved that engine. Mike.
  18. Hello Simon & Fran, welcome to the LOC. We are a friendly bunch and only to pleased to help when problems, motoring type arise to impart info to you. Enjoy your Lexus Mike.
  19. Try Chaucer, been with them a few years now and the renewell price each year has always been very competitive. Mike
  20. I think you will find this dealer t6hinks he will get out of his legal responsibilities by putting all that mumbo jumbo on but it wont. He is still liable under the law of this land and he can put what he likes there but if its not fit for purpose he is liable. Good luck to anyone who tries to get their money back should there be a problem though. Mike
  21. Just pop the number into the search on ebay and that item will show up. Mike.
  22. There are no regulations over here and as far as I am aware non over there either. Mike
  23. The thing you must all remember at the moment is that there is no law at all governing the use or installation of LPG systems. All the things that have been spoken about on here are on the governments list for LPG when they incorporate LPG systems into the MOT until then anything goes. There are some things that are known they want to introduce so its worth knowing these because if you have for instance the filler connection to close to the ground it involve more money getting it fixed to government standards. Its also worth noting that they have been going to introduce these checks for at least the last 5 years and it hasn't happened yet. As for the stuff quoted by UKLPG most of the membership here at the LOC know exactly what I think of these self appointed sheriffs who are not government backed have nothing to do with the government, have never had government backing and come to that neither do they have the backing of the majority of insurance company. Just ignore them all they wont is more money out of you. If your insurance company say they wont insure you unless they get a certificate from UKLPG educate them as to what power this self appointed organisation haven't got in a polite manner and find an insurance company that will insure you with the certificate your chosen installer gives you, there are now plenty of them out there. Mike
