  1. Yes, that sort of product. There is no way a 2 year old engine that has been using Toyota 0W-16 oil would need a flush though. So I'd certainly be asking the dealer why they think it is needed, I'm sure they wouldn't admit they haven't been using quality oil during the previous services.
  2. Some dealers use an engine flush, not sure if it is a Toyota product or whatever the dealer has decided to use.
  3. Sure, but they won't be cheap.
  4. That's correct, since the facelift they all come with 20" wheels in this country. Before then 18" were fitted to the lower spec models:
  5. Base model RXs had 18" wheels as standard fitment which is why the size is on the label.
  6. Best wishes Piers.
  7. Welcome Jim 🙂
  8. The 300h was launched in Sept 2013, with initial customer delivers in late Dec/Jan 2014 so I imaging most of those 13 were early press or demonstrator vehicles.
  9. Maintenance free flooded batteries have existed for a long time - where the plate materials and additional elements have improved over time to reduce the amount of water loss, and they don't include caps to top up the water. Toyota didn't start using AGM batteries until 2000 and only mainstream from 2003 with the introduction of the Prius series II.
  10. That didn't mean it was AGM.
  11. If you have the triple beam lights then the centre low beam light is LED and therefore there is no bulb to replace.
  12. Just because it is AGM, it doesn't mean it is better quality. You can get good AGM batteries, and you can get cheap ones - the same for flooded batteries. Cycle count is really only increased if it is a good quality deep-cycle AGM battery, but for normal use in a daily used vehicle it isn't needed. Not at all from an engineering point of view, only marketing. When Lexus first launched it didn't exist in Japan, with top end Toyotas being of higher quality. Really the difference is in styling and interior finishes - mechanically and electronically they have always been the same.
  13. Efficiency is probably the wrong term. They support a higher discharge before being damaged and are suited for the CT with its small battery that easily gets discharged. They are safer in an accident because the acid cannot run free. AGM is normally used for start/stop systems because they can be charged at a higher rate and therefore charge can be maintained even with higher use of the starter motor. This isn't an issue for Toyota hybrids as the battery isn't used to turn over the engine and Toyota/Lexus have mainly reverted back to flooded batteries for their latest Hybrids (ES, UX, latest RX etc).
  14. Which implies it was just friction material transfer.
  15. No major issues commonly reported but the shocks will start to leak and rubbers degrade with age. Springs are fine as long as the paint hasn't been chipped off and allowed to rust. Lexus have altered the interval to 20k miles/2 years so will go above and beyond what your service book states. They run the fans up, check the hybrid coolant pump operation and load the motor with a stall test whist checking voltages so it is a little more involved than you suggest but it isn't anything too difficult with the correct equipment. But you miss the point, a successful test registers the vehicle for an additional 12 month warranty on the battery - no individual or independent can do this. The battery is very reliable so you could argue it isn't needed, or you can just get the hybrid check done separately without a service.
  16. Brake fluid change is every 2 years, not 4. But as they won’t touch the pistons or sliding pins it will make no difference to seizing - condition of the fluid doesn’t contribute to that. Take your point about service costs, always cheaper to DIY (although you have to be careful of fake parts being sold on eBay) but not everyone has the skill/experience, tools, time, space or desire to do that. An independent is a good option as they aren’t charging £150+ per hour nor have 200%+ markup on oil. But for hybrid owners a Lexus service includes the hybrid check for battery warranty, and now you get a 12 month/10k miles Relax warranty with every service, so for piece of mind it is still a good option for people who’s vehicle is under 10 years old.
  17. Do you see the same thing in the app and on the website? If so that would indicate an issue with the vehicle itself or Lexus' back end services. The car itself cannot get OTA updates so unless you have been into the dealer it is unlikely to be a vehicle update. For what it's worth, everything seems to be ok with my wife's vehicle yesterday/today.
  18. That is interesting - the system is shutting itself down because of a sensor fault
  19. I don't believe they have anything to do with LKQ, which is who owns ECP, other than a supplier relationship. Pagid are owned by the same company that owns Textar and Mintex, amongst others. As with most companies, they have a range of products to fit different price categories and needs. Pagid have some good products and some budget products. The same as Brembo, with some people here getting RC F brakes that corrode and others with coating on them which prevents this.
  20. The relays would be the first area to investigate if there is no corrosion.
  21. No, the main difference is it simulates/enhances the intake sounds as well as the exhaust.
  22. Also be aware that if you don't get a 2018 model with the Plus Pack option you will have less kit compared to an older one as Lexus lowered the spec of the base RC F. RC F v3.pdf
  23. Not heard anyone else report this problem so you were possibly just unlucky. There was a part code change for MY19, so maybe we will see a pattern of the early 2019 vehicles with this issue - time will tell. The part is specific to the NX but I imagine the main component is the same for RX and UX and I've not heard of issues there either. Normally the fact that the part is coming from Japan would indicate this isn't a common issue otherwise spares would be held in the UK/Europe - but with current supply chain issues it is more difficult to make that assumption. As Steve has pointed out, Lexus Relax warranty will cover these for up to 10 years provided you get your vehicle serviced by an authorised Lexus dealer.
  24. These are motorised struts, not gas struts.
