  1. Check the starter relay first, if that is functioning then the starter solenoid could be at fault.
  2. None of them from the factory. Aftermarket mod.
  3. It’s wheels may fall off. A full worldwide recall and deliveries suspended. https://www.electrifying.com/blog/article/recall-makes-wheels-fall-off-toyota-s-bz4x-launch-plans
  4. Info on the wing: Aeronautical Partnership Inspires New Rear Wing for Lexus LC Flagship Coupe.pdf
  5. The options to allow the boot to open without first unlocking the vehicle is a dealer only setting (or using Techstream software/Carista app), the setting isn't available via the vehicle's menu system unfortunately. They should illuminate when your lights are on.
  6. Hi John. Yes the issues were mainly with the 2006/2007 models. There are 6 battery failures and 2 transmission pump failures in just this one thread, and there are others: We know Richard @ hybrid battery solutions because of GS450h battery failures. He has fixed several for members here, and several people have also fixed transmission issues here by replacing the bearings. Both failures would mean scrapping the vehicle if the owner took it to Lexus to get it repaired as they won't 'fix' the issue just swap out the sub-assembly for thousands of pounds. The hybrid failures of the GS reported on LOC total more than all the other Lexus hybrids combined. It still isn't a high number but isn't 'Lexus' reliable. The RX400h for example sold 6 times the number of GS450h yet failures are less than half and only really a result of an external issue (water ingress) that is starting to occur because of the vehicle's age. The 400h did suffer an inverter issue but that was dealt with under a recall FOC. 2008 models, there was a slight revision to the battery pack and they seem more reliable but didn't sell as many so less of a data sample to draw a full conclusion. 2009 onwards with the larger boot capacity and revised battery pack/electronics seem reliable.
  7. If he was just talking about the IS300h then I'd be surprised if a single dealership has had to replace 4 or 5 as they are very reliable. I can only remember a couple of occurrences reported here on LOC, both at 180k+ miles. If he was including other models then yes I'd believe it as the series III GS450h has had more than its fair share of failures, and the RX400h gets battery damage through water ingress because of glued body seams failing with age.
  8. Yes that is the main cause, but it can come from the pollen filter if it gets damp. The use of the word A/C was used as a general term for the heating and ventilation system rather than specifically the air conditioning part of the system.
  9. well just try braking when the rattle occurs to rule out the brakes - it has to be something: suspension strut, broken spring, ball joint, brake pads/calliper, exhaust heat shield. Has a Lexus dealer checked it, or an independent? They should be able to find the cause with a test drive, vehicle lift and a mallet.
  10. As of today the new Lexus car warranty in the UK is 3 years /60k miles except for all the hybrid components which are extended to 5 years / 60k miles. During this time the owner must have the vehicle serviced as per the schedule using genuine parts but by law this can be performed by a non-Lexus dealership. Once your manufacturer warranty has expired, Lexus Relax warranty is provided free with a service at a Lexus dealership and covers all components including the hybrid system (subject to exclusions) and gives you 12 months / 10k miles warranty - at which point you are due another service and therefore then get a 12 month/10k miles extension up to 10 years/100k miles. The service includes a hybrid health check. If you don't want to have your vehicle serviced at a Lexus dealer you can just get the £59 hybrid health check which gives you 12 months/10k miles warranty on the hybrid (traction/high voltage) battery only (not the motor or inverter). After 10 years/100k miles you no longer qualify for the Relax warranty but if you still get the vehicle serviced at Lexus, or just get a hybrid health check, then your hybrid battery will be covered up to 15 years old (unlimited mileage). Initially the hybrid health check only covered up to 10 years but as the first hybrids came up to being 10 years old, Lexus extended it to 15 years. They don't seem to offer beyond 10 years in other European countries and I wonder at some point will they limit it back to 10 years for newer vehicles in the UK.
  11. You probably won't get smells from damp leaves and dirt caught in the filter in your climate. Being clogged with dust is more likely.
  12. It can be a little difficult in a hybrid but try applying the brakes (press just enough to go beyond the electric regenerative braking and engage the mechanical brakes) to see if that stops the rattle. If you ball joints and shocks are okay then it is probably just the brake pads moving/knocking within the callipers - if it is that then maybe a clip is missing or the pads just been a bit of brake grease on the edges to stop the noise.
  13. Order intake can be important to some dealerships, the ones publicly traded for example where they give guidance on their order book.
  14. 433 MHz frequency band is used in Europe for TPMS and key fobs etc. as 315 MHz is not unlicensed spectrum here and would be illegal to use.
  15. It's consistent. Most losses come from resistance in the charging cable/connectors and converting mains AC into the correct DC voltage to charge the battery rather than what state of charge the battery is in.
  16. Counterintuitively, garaged can be the most expensive option compared to driveway or on street. Thieves have time to break in unnoticed/undisturbed in the view of the insurance industry.
  17. It’s no where near that but end of quarter targets can make it worthwhile selling cars near cost or even below cost, especially if they are making money on finance. Larger discounts/offers are normally manufacturer supported. Why not give carwow a go and let all the dealers compete for your business, as you say it is the right time although you may have left it a day or two too late.
  18. I'd change every 2 years, cleaning it at 12 months, or sooner if you get smells from the climate system. If you get the more expensive ones with active charcoal in it to remove odours then that isn't going to be effective after 2 years so definitely should be replaced.
  19. Yes, every 2 years/20k miles on all models in the service book. Lexus UK seem to change that to every year when they published their simplified service schedule that the dealers should follow: Lexus - Service Table 0418.pdf Certainly worth taking it out every 12 months and giving it a hover if you don't replace it.
  20. What fault code is being produced?
  21. Sales people are paid to make you feel good, so will normally always agree with your opinion (unless it has to do with money 🙂 ). If someone else went in a said the new NX interior is so much better than the old one I'm sure the same person would agree with them. Not sure there is a huge difference in the quality of materials between the two NXs, but I'd say generally quality has continued to decline in all Lexus models over the last 15 years.
  22. Are you referring to the sliding pins? FYI you shouldn't really use copper grease on moving parts as it is abrasive and will wear the pins/calliper bores and rubber boots over time.
  23. There won't be a requirement for a Cat 1 alarm, but the insurance grouping of the SC is based on one being factory fitted and therefore if you know it isn't working then you should advise them - as you have publicly announced this fact you cannot claim you didn't know it wasn't working.
  24. If the interior movement sensor isn't working then smashing a window won't set off the alarm. Technically it is a microwave sensor, not radar. Without 'perimeter' security the alarm no longer can be classified as a Thatcham approved Cat 1 alarm - something your insurance company may have an issue with. The SC430 doesn't have adaptive cruise control so there is no radar on the front of the vehicle for that functionality.
  25. Toyota and Lexus have been using the AA for their breakdown cover for many years now. Before then it was RAC. Toyota documentation dated 02/22 still states the AA so if there has been a change then it is recent. I do hope they haven't moved to RAC, I've heard nothing but bad reports from people using them in the last couple of years - long wait times and nearly always an independent recovery service of questionable quality turns up.
