  1. Low temperature grease could run out if the brakes get too hot. Some grease might react with the rubber boots and eventually allow water to get into the pins. Copper grease is abrasive and will wear the rubber boots and could even wear the calliper holes which would lead to the callipers rattling - but this would take many years to occur. Having said all that, any grease that is suitable for brakes is fine, you don't need the specific Toyota grease, and I'm not convinced that the red rubber assembly grease Toyota use is the best option - which is why you start to get seized pins after a few years as it starts to get too sticky and harden. What is most important is the pins are checked and re-lubricated every couple of years, rather than waiting until your callipers are seized and you need to replace the discs because of corrosion.
  2. 2018 was the year of the facelift model. It has revised suspension and better noise insulation so rides slightly better and is quieter inside. Not a night and day different but worth going for if you can afford a 2018 model.
  3. This depends on the dealership. I think in theory they should use a machine and some people get a print out of the results but Lexus Reading for example (and Guildford I believe) just look at your tyres for uneven wear (as they don't have a machine). Personally I don't really find this acceptable, and dealers that aren't properly checking alignment should be giving a discount against the fixed price service.
  4. I'm not sure Herbie wants to be associated with that overpriced bag of bolts. 🤣
  5. I'm not sure many people do that these days as they have their cards electronically stored on their phones.
  6. Extended warranty T&Cs require you to get your vehicle serviced every 12 month (with 1 month leeway) or 10k miles (1,000 mile leeway) by a Lexus authorised dealer - whichever comes first. That time/mileage starts from the date of the previous service. If your service is due early Nov then your warranty is technically invalid early Dec - whether this gets checked or not is another matter but you would be taking a risk.
  7. Air filter is only replaced every 40k miles (inspected at 20k miles and charged extra if needed) on all the modern vehicles. Pollen filter should be changed though at each major service. I think this is the list you are referring to - Lexus seem to be less transparent these days although this generic list is only a guide as model specific requirements (as listed in the service book) take precedence. Lexus - Service Table 0418.pdf How can you say that, you are forgetting the £1 battery for your key fob - totally makes it value for money. 😉 Equally, £325 just to change the oil, which really is all a minor service is, is simply outrageous too. Moisture can cause the brake lines to corrode and become a safety issue/MOT failure. Historically Lexus used to test for water content and only replace if needed, now they just do it every 2 years - which in reality is overkill because unless you are removing your cap and topping up all the time not much water gets in passed the brake calliper and master cylinder seals. I wonder if you can ask your dealer to perform a minor service and brake fluid - that should be much less than a major service but will have Relax warranty consequences (see below). Otherwise threaten them to go to an independent - they are likely to drop their price to keep your custom. I would not take their word for that. Get it in writing from Lexus UK, but I don't believe they will do so because you will not be carrying out all maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer: Your obligations To ensure you receive the benefit of the Lexus Relax warranty, you must comply with the following: You must: a) carry out all the maintenance and/or care specified or recommended by the manufacturer. Lexus Relax rights are waived when the fault arising is linked to maintenance and inspection work having not been carried out. These are specified in the Lexus service booklet.
  8. The issue with that media document is that it states it is guide only and to use the main website for more accurate info. The old brochure had the word sequential but not the later one: Mistake/supply chain issues/cost cutting - who knows but it doesn't appear any of the models have sequential indicators. The 2 against the cornering lights refers to Premium Plus Plus - doesn't come with the standard grade, or with the Premium Pack.
  9. Yes crazy isn't it. Although if you did that you would never get a new air filter at that is only replaced every 40k miles 😉 Seems as if Lexus want a simplified standard service cost, but charging £550 for a 20k miles initial full service, which isn't really anything more than a minor oil change and a look around, is obscene.
  10. I imagine it is a fuel system and engine valve/piston cleaner. e.g Redex type of product (although hopefully one that is much better).
  11. The official place is online access (subscription based) from Lexus. https://www.lexus-tech.eu You will find hacked/copied PDF manuals being sold on eBay etc. but as they are illegally infringing copyright we don't talk about them here. There are also used copies of the paper manuals for sale - not sure you can still purchase them new from Lexus. Ideally you want ones that cover European and RHD models, although 80%+ of a US manual would still be relevant. One weak point on the LS430 is the transmission oil cooler failing within the radiator and destroying the gearbox. I'd recommend you replace the radiator as a precautionary measure and/or bypass the oil cooler and fit an external one instead.
  12. Brain dead decision, but it seems Toyota want to cling on to a technology they co-developed even though they have given up with it on the bZ4X/RZ - the same as Nissan continuing with it on the Leaf but gone to CCS on Ariya. The number of CHAdeMo chargers continues to increase in the UK at the moment but I can't see that lasting for too many more years and then a gradual decline. In 10 years time you could have a problem and be mainly restricted to slow AC chargers. It will be a while before pricing is announced for this new 300e but I have a feeling it won't be competitively priced anyway.
  13. Cornering lights are only with Premium Plus or above. I think there was a mistake in the early edition of the brochure that had it under just Premium (or Lexus have altered the spec).
  14. yeah the newer ones don't seem to do it anymore. Cost cutting or just doesn't justify the small difference it makes compared to laminated.
  15. Technically that is laminated glass not double glazing with an air gap in-between that you get with high end vehicles (Lexus LS, MB S-Class etc.). But that means it isn't the glass that is making the UX quieter. Possibly it is because there is less glass as the UX windows are quite small.
  16. I wouldn't worry about that, Lexus don't on all their new models as they are fitting flooded batteries to vehicles with batteries in the boot (ES, UX etc.). The only hesitation I'd have in swapping an AGM for a standard flooded battery is whether Lexus are using a slightly different charging profile for vehicles with AGM as standard fitment - something there isn't definite information on.
  17. A second hand unit from a breakers is going to be your only option of getting a replacement quickly I would have thought. Removing the old one and cleaning/painting it could also be an option if the corrosion is only surface rust.
  18. The ES definitely has an acoustic windscreen and my guess is the UX does too. The UX also has acoustic door windows in the front but only with the Takumi grade.
  19. Looks like you need part 77210-48120. Have you tried your local Lexus dealer?
  20. Yeah, two main issues with the old 300e and they only fixed one of them.
  21. My wife's UX has extremely loud road noise which come from the Bridgestone runflats. Looking forward to when they wear out and can get some Michelin CC2s on there.
  22. Despite what some dealers may say there is nothing special about the key card, from the car's point of view it just appears as a standard key and is programmed in the same way (using Techstream) and the blank cut on a normal cutting machine. You just need to get one that matches the version of keys you have. 89904-53603 is possibly the part you need but you need to get that verified. They are expensive though, £350+.
  23. Very dependent on how it has been driven but it is a big heavy car that is capable of high speeds that needs to be stopped at some point. Someone could easily get through pads and discs just on the road in 10k miles, others will make them last 30k+. This one certainly seems to have had a harder life than most GS Fs. Rear shocks seem to have a habit of misting/leaking but not heard of the fronts being a problem at that mileage.
  24. No RX400h have air suspension. It was only the RX300 on the RX series II that did.
  25. 133 kW. You have the 2AR-FSE engine. The 2AR-FXE engine is used in the NX300h, not the IS300h. Your owners manual states the correct plugs:
