  1. Tesla has a direct sales model and uses pricing to manage demand. It was obvious that the price rises during the last 12 months would be reversed at some point and the prices are now nearing their norm. No large corporate care much that much about their customers. The priority is themselves, shareholders, dealers/partners and then customers. There have been a few people here that aren't impressed with Lexus and their lead times, price rises and finance packages being withdrawn.
  2. If you have a volt meter, check the voltage of your 12v battery. It will cause all sorts of random warning and fault codes if it cannot hold a good charge. Being temperature related is a sign of the battery is on its way out.
  3. It's no different from any other vehicle in that you don't truly know your battery is being charged. All you know is the 12v system is being fed 14+v from the alternator, or DC-DC converter in the case of a hybrid, which will extinguish the battery warning light. In the case of the UX you would get the following warning if the 12v line was low and therefore not charging the battery: Unfortunately the UX doesn't have the Battery Guard feature as part of the Connected Services which all the other models from around 2020 onwards have. This gives you a reading of the 12v battery from the mobile app and gives an alert if low. The bluetooth battery monitor suggested by Ted above is only way to get that functionality, although your phone needs to be near the car to receive the signal.
  4. You can purchase direct fit bulbs but they aren't road legal and there is a specific check in the MOT to fail any halogen headlights converted to HID/LED.
  5. Tesla prices are just back to where they where near the end of 2021. They started to raise prices to counter their growing order book with lead times 8+ months. Now they are back to their normal 1 to 3 months the prices have come back down. As Tesla operate in a very different way I'm not sure Toyota can compete with this price drop. It certainly makes the RZ look very uncompetitive, and the winter battery performance of the Toyota bZ4X is appalling (although could just be a software bug). https://motorillustrated.com/toyota-bz4x-cold-weather-tests-show-a-much-shorter-range-than-advertised/107346/
  6. I don't believe it has anything to do with the aux battery. If the voltage is low then the power going through the assembly would be less so isn't going to overload it. We get more reports of this issue during the winter months. It could be temp related, which could be an indication that the relays aren't switching correctly or a temperature related component failure, or is due to more rain in the winter and water is shorting out the circuitry. There are reports of it being an intermittent issue for some people, at least initially, which would also indicate a temperature/moisture issue. It could be a problem with the motor itself, although unlikely. I don't think anyone has just swapped the board over, they just fit the complete replacement assembly.
  7. If it wasn't water then it will be fine. It isn't available on its own unfortunately.
  8. There is no relay between the 30 A fuse and the motor assembly. The yellow wire is the main feed. The relays that operate the motor are on the board - the white Taiko relays are the first things I'd be replacing although some people have reported the device stops being visible on the CAN bus which indicates a low voltage/signalling issue rather than motor control but there may be more that one failure point on these assemblies. This is water evidence on this IC? Difficult to tell in the picture.
  9. Luckily we don't have Range Rovers with a plastic tailgate and an alarm that will deactivate by cutting a wire. This guy has an additional immobiliser so kept the car but he still has to deal with the damage. https://tekdeeps.com/went-down-to-my-range-rover-and-noticed-a-hole-in-the-trunk-a-new-way-to-steal/
  10. Pull out, you need to start at the front cover:
  11. I think Lexus UK and the dealers are kept in the dark by the factory, and if they don't have components to make an F Sport they may well just produce an F Sport Design. But as customers we shouldn't have to accept this nonsense. Given that it takes 4 weeks to get from Japan to the UK on a ship and you are expecting it in only a couple of weeks then the vehicle must already be built, with a VIN and therefore has a known specification.
  12. It is one of many personal malware/AV solutions for Windows that all do an adequate job, not really offering much more protection than Microsoft provides built into Windows. I believe the AV engine is Kaspersky. I'm not aware of any corporates or security professionals using it, even the large multinational banks that use the parent company's Check Point firewalls for their network and cloud security use different endpoint protection. No doubt there are some who use it but they don't have any meaningful market penetration and aren't seen by Gartner or other analyst firms as a leader.
  13. Do you have the VIN? If it isn't the spec you ordered then request your deposit back and walk away.
  14. Some do, others like Ford have ditched the Mondeo and will soon the Fiesta. We don't know the business costs for Toyota to operate in Europe but each car costs money in homologation, spares holding, staff training etc. to be able to sell it. This combined with high shipping costs and 10% import duties make it difficult to compete with the European companies and make a good margin, so they limit models and choice.
  15. Toyota GB discontinued the IS, GS, Prius and Camry because the sales dropped off a cliff, before worldwide end of production. Partly because the majority now want SUVs and partly, IMO, because the 7 year model cycle is too long and they become uncompetitive before the new model is released. However Lexus has never had as high a market share in the UK as it has had in the last couple of years, currently 2022 is at 1.9% (end Nov): and the same for Toyota, currently 2022 is at 6.4% (end Nov):
  16. Yes, it's the facelift models that can be upgraded (MY18). I was a year out above.
  17. Much cheaper to make them that way.
  18. It needs to be a late 2018 model (nov 2018 onwards - MY19). MY18 and below cannot be upgraded. Price was £80 a couple of years back. It is going to be in the £80 - £100 range I guess now.
  19. I’d rather servicing costs are lowered and we keep reliable vehicles that are serviced at least once a year.
  20. Not too harsh but stiff and certainly different to an LS. You need to try yourself, it is too subjective to subject.
  21. HNY 🙂 The number of CHAdeMO chargers continue to increase in the UK but not sure for how much longer. It is only the Japanese manufacturers that insist on using it and even the latest Toyota/Lexus and Nissan EVs will now coming with CCS. So yes you could struggle to find rapid DC CHAdeMO chargers in the future. It’s only fast charging that is the issue. The 300e has a standard type 2 ac charge port for overnight ‘destination’ charging so you can use your Zappi.
  22. I wouldn't like to guess but the differences between those part codes are based on the spec of the vehicle, therefore one will have mounting for the camera others won't.
  23. A spam post (which is now removed) brought this thread back to life, hence why you probably saw it but didn't notice the original OP date.
  24. Wiring diagrams, vehicle info and workshop manuals have the information. Prior to the facelift the headlights were controlled by the body ecu using normal signal wires. The facelift introduced LED headlights - with the left headlight the master which is CAN bus connected to the body ECU, like all other new Lexus/Toyota models. It's on a CAN bus with only the mirrors and seats so should be harmless but there must be a poor design or vulnerability in the body ECU that allows access to the other bus(es) it is attached to rather than firewalling access. Yes, the pre-facelift model has 5 CAN buses, and the facelift model 6 with lots of components connected to them. Most are not easily accessed from outside the vehicle and the buses should be protected from one another with the body ECU and gateway ECU being the firewalls between them. So it isn't just a case of having access to a bus, it either needs to be the right one or a way to bypass security.
