If you don't have a sub then your headunit has a built in amp and no line level output. Only the vehicles with a sub has a separate amp. Potentially you could use an active sub with a high level input but I'm not sure if the low frequencies are output from the headunit or filtered out.

Engine oil flush and injector clean???
ColinBarber replied to Zadumbreion's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Yes, it certainly used to be. But Lexus increased the price of the basic major service and removed the mention of additional costs for the 60k and 100k services. That uplift might still be there, if that's the case then Lexus are no longer being transparent on their website. -
If you are taking your feed(s) from the cig lighter wiring then you don't need inline fuses because the 15 A fuse in the fusebox is providing the protection. You only need inline fuses if you were to take a feed directly from the battery or a circuit that is protected by a much larger fuse. Yes, run two separate cables, one for each seat. Use appropriate cable, something at least 2.00mm^2 / 14 AWG thick so you don't get too much voltage drop on your cable which will cause the seats to move too slowly.

Engine oil flush and injector clean???
ColinBarber replied to Zadumbreion's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
You can insist they don't change the spark plus as the interval is only distance based, not time. Most dealers will insist they need to be changed to maintain warranty but refer them to the service booklet, or Lexus UK, if they won't stamp the book. Plug change is a big part of the cost. Saying that the latest service pricing from Lexus infers that they no longer have different pricing for each of the major services. If that's the case then definitely get the plugs changed. -
Roadtrip to Germany

More accurate in that is removes any human error in reading it correctly but the other inaccuracies remain. The speed sensor (ABS sensors) are providing a digital signal but the circumference of the wheel is a preset value that doesn't truly represent reality because of thread wear and tyre pressures. That is then combined with the laws that state it has to read over and within certain limits (in the EU at least) - and Toyota always push towards the max. end of those limits. Not really applicable for the Fs as they don't have different wheel size options, but for the regular models there is always a percentage or two different in circumference between the options because of set tyre sizes and the speedos aren't calibrated for individual trim levels which leads to more inaccuracy/inconsistency. -
Removal Jdm limiter on Isf
ColinBarber replied to Tee643's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
TOMS and Lems both produce delimiters. Not cheap. I assume they work for the JDM limit as well as the 168 mph limit for other countries. -

^^^^this. The speedo at a true 160 mph should read between 166 and 172 mph otherwise it is out of spec: 40 → 42.0 to 44.5 80 → 83.1 to 87.1 120 → 124.7 to 129.6 160 → 166.2 to 171.9 200 → 207.8 to 214.2 -

No, certainly not an NX of that age - not even sure the latest gen can do that. It sounds like you have a faulty door handle sensor which thinks it is being touched all the time and therefore when the key comes into range it unlocks. I would double check your handles are clean (the inside bit your fingers wrap around), using some rubbing alcohol on a cloth/kitchen roll to make really sure.

Engine oil flush and injector clean???
ColinBarber replied to Zadumbreion's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Engine flush shouldn't really be needed if you are servicing at a Lexus dealer who would be using quality oils. Injector cleaner is somewhat dependent on the quality of fuel you use, so the way the LC has been engineered doesn't really factor in. You could argue that these should be built-in to the high service charges, but I feel they would just become even more expensive. Much cheaper to purchase a can of injector cleaner yourself and put in at a fill up every couple of years rather than paying a huge Lexus markup. -
Yes you could use the cig lighter. It's a switched source so you would need the ignition on and only 15 A fused so don't move both seats to be at once, but would make wiring easier.

For factory fitted electric seats, they both get power through a single 30 A fuse.

MPG Plummeted after service
ColinBarber replied to agent_dess's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Was the vehicle going in / out of EV mode by itself /shutting off the engine at junctions etc. There are conditions where this stops working although normally more common on older models such as the RX400h. -
Yamaha do head design work for Toyota across most their engines going back to the 1960s, including on the Toyota 2000GT.

Yes, but I don't hold out much hope. They didn't make cat converters more difficult to steal over the years of them being stolen, only the fact that they now need to use a particulate filter for emissions has it forced them to remove the secondary cats from under the vehicle. Or the fact they still use keys that don't disable keyless entry once movement has not occurred, unlike many other manufacturers, so are still susceptible to relay attacks years after the weakness has been known about and actively exploited.

CVT Lexus have gone back and forth here. Late 90s/2000s models were touch screen, then they pushed the screens away and you had the rotary controller/mouse/trackpad options which were always heavily criticised by the press, so the screens have come forward again and are touch enabled. Works ok at lower speeds but can just zig-zag across the lane when going faster - very inferior to many other manufactures lane keeping systems that centre you in the lane, and keep you there. It's the biggest limitation of the vehicle. People need to consider practicality before purchasing. Shouldn't be a problem if a family is getting the UX as a second car.

To further add to this, in the Lexus mag. they talk about security and make this specific point below, which they wouldn't do if it caused warranty issues: Secure your port Every new car sold in the UK since 2003 has been equipped with an on-board diagnostic port. Abbreviated to OBD, this port is a computer connection that allows the car to communicate messages about its mechanical health to an authorised technician. Unfortunately, thieves have discovered that with special equipment they can use this OBD port to programme blank keys to work with the car. For this reason, some owners choose to secure their OBD port with an aftermarket lock. Typically, this can either be a lockable metal box that covers the port itself, or an electronic lock that works alongside the original immobiliser to disable the port when the ignition is off. https://mag.lexus.co.uk/car-security-advice-and-tips

Yes, Lexus provide this but only until 15 years old. After that there are obviously third party warranties but their T&Cs often limit the maximum claim which may not cover an expensive Lexus part or may not allow Lexus dealer labour rates. I personally wouldn't go down that route and instead save the money to pay for repairs as and when needed, probably using 3rd party companies to repair items or fit salvage replacement parts.

@BarneyTT sorry to hear of your health problems. Lexus provide a hybrid health check service which if passed provides you with a 12 month/10k mile warranty on the hybrid battery, but only up to 15 years old. There is no evidence that the hybrid batteries have issues at 15 years old, although the vast majority of Toyota/Lexus hybrid are 15 years or younger to draw any conclusions on this. On the older series II RX400h, only a handful have reported battery issues here on LOC and were mainly caused by water ingress rather than a direct problem with the battery itself. For the series III 450h I cannot recall any failures here, but there may have been one or two very unlucky people. The series III RX is very reliable, with only the powered rear tailgate failure being a common issue.

No point having a warranty on a car that has been stolen. In any case the warranty cannot be withdrawn because you have made a modification, only if the modification causes a fault. In the worst case you would have to remove it to prove it wasn't the cause of the issue but normally you would just disable it. e.g. with Relax the warranty doesn't cover: Damage or defects caused by modifications of the original vehicle design or the installation of certain accessories, the vehicle no longer complies with the minimum standards set down by the manufacturer;

Research shows it costs more to run an EV on long journeys
ColinBarber replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
It's not the manufacturers fault, it's the regulators. WLTP doesn't produce results that are real world realistic for BEVs but it is what they have to publish. Heating and AC are the big ones. Using heated seats rather than full cabin heating drastically reduced battery consumption. Lights use very little, estimated to be around 0.5 mile range lost per hour of usage. Audio system would be almost too small to measure - a tiny amount unless you have fitted a high end aftermarket system and run it at full volume all the time.
