  1. You say that as if it doesn't already have vented discs which it should do on the front. On the rear depends on age but does't really need them. The OEM discs are fine. Pads, I'd probably go with Redstuff rather than Green due to the weight and power of the IS.
  2. Very sad, RIP John. Condolences to family and friends.
  3. Before MY09 (Aug 2008 build date) the recommended oil grade was 5W-30 or 10W30. For MY09 onwards it changed to 0W-20 or 5W-20. 0W-20 might be too thin for an ageing vehicle - it depends on engine wear and you could see an increase in oil consumption - but would give you the best mpg. Nothing really changed with the engine, just that Toyota started to move to 0W-20 oils in their hybrid vehicles at that time to improve mpg and CO2 figures after evaluating its suitability.
  4. The problem with sentry mode on the Tesla’s is that it is an afterthought and requires the car’s main computer to be operational to run the cameras which consumes 300 W of power. Not such an issue with a massive EV battery but Lexus couldn’t do the same with a tiny 12 v aux battery, or even the low capacity hybrid traction battery. Therefore it would only be useful when the vehicle was in use, not when parked up. Architecturally there as a massive difference between a Tesla and mainstream vehicles which would make implementing the same solution difficult. The Lexus is a collection of different systems, mainly designed by different OEMs, that don’t share information between each other. It would be difficult to get the video used by one system and reuse it for something else. Certainly not with just a simple software update.
  5. A little far out but Toyotatech in Guildford come highly recommended by the people that have used their services.
  6. No, that's a UK VIN. I believe the paint code is 1F2. You should find that on the VIN plate in the engine bay if it isn't at the bottom of one of the B pillars.
  7. AWD is rare because there is very little benefit so hardly anyone adds that option and it's unlikely you could tell the difference on a normal road other than slightly less mpg because of the extra weight. If it's the spec you want other than AWD then I wouldn't necessarily pass it by, I just wouldn't recommend specifically looking for an AWD model or pay extra for it.
  8. The system auto switching between fresh air and recirculate is normally due to the smog sensor, not to keep the climate system constant - it uses the cold/hot air mixture for that.
  9. F Sport Design has external styling differences, but the base model with premium plus would have a better audio system, keyless entry, wireless charge pad, a more adjustable driver's seat and entry illumination.
  10. Yes. Azure Blue is a 5 stage sonic colour that costs a lot more in paint and time compared to a solid colour. If you make the assumption that a solid colour is costing £580 then Azure Blue is £1,500.
  11. If it’s a UK vehicle then it is AWD as is wasn’t sold in FWD form here. Otherwise look underneath and see if there are driveshafts going to the rear wheels.
  12. No, it doesn't dead lock the car on a single press, just locks all the doors normally. Not sure if pressing it again once the tailgate is closed does - you can easily test that as you can hear the deadlock sound. Not sure deadlocking would achieve anything unless the thefts near you are related to smashing the windows. The latest CAN base or relay thefts operate the door locking via hacking into the computer system/using the keyfob signal, both of which would release the deadlock and unlock.
  13. Worked for me just now.
  14. RC has never had semi-aniline leather in any trim but yes they did downgrade the base trim level from standard leather to Tahara man made leather. F Sport kept real leather throughout. For the facelift, red (dark rose) seat were available on base grade (man made leather) and Takumi (real leather). The F Sport only has a brighter red option (flare red). Seats should be a straight swap providing you get ones with the same options (eg ventilated or not).
  15. Nothing particularly rigid about the standard RC. The RC F has extra braces in multiple areas, including the rear seat back area.
  16. If you get the Nextbase hardwiring kit then you get a piggyback fuse lead so you can reuse an existing fuse position, such as the cig. lighter.
  17. No, it is just the pads lightly pressing against the discs causing the noise. Try a few hard stops from 60 to 10 mph to clean the pads/discs otherwise just replace the rear pads with something that has a different compound - EBC yellow or green stuff for example.
  18. That's correct but the point being made was it is set to double in a year to two's time.
  19. Yes if people can't keep to topic.

  21. The F Sport (including 500h) has active sound control. You can turn it off, but only through the menu system rather than with a dedicated physical control as with the IS300h.
  22. The Leaf has the worst performing battery because it didn't have any active thermal management, unlike the vast majority of modern EVs. Many older ones have very high degradation. The reliability and capacity drop often quoted is all based on theory and accelerated lab cycling. There are no reliable sources whichever side of the fence you sit because until a larger volume of EVs of 10+ years and 100k+ miles exist there isn't the data to back up any theory. What we are seeing with the small samples now available is the battery degradation isn't as high as first thought. For people that don't need long range, the LFP/LiFePo4 batteries offer even more cycles and ability to charging to 100% with much less degradation than the higher range NCA and NCM chemistries.
