  2. CT has a foot operated parking brake, similar to the RX which I believe you are familiar. P on the transmission is again similar to the RX - it locks the transmission and that's all some people use when parking, but to lock the brakes (rear wheels) you need to use the parking brake.
  3. Is this only at a specific speed or engine rpm? Always done it or just started? There was an issue with the IS300h but haven't heard it affects the GS300h. Water pump
  4. The discrepancy is due to some people quoting the petrol engine power and others quoting the full hybrid system power level (engine+battery assistance). The petrol engine is 98 bhp. For UK/Europe/US/most of Asia the engine is 2ZR-FXE. For completeness, the Wiki entry linked to above is missing info about China, where it uses the 5ZR-FXE engine (used in both Prius and CT). It is almost identical to the 2ZR-FXE but don't get one of these.
  5. There is nothing special about the Toyota battery and isn't their technology - just the same as most other vehicle manufacturers are using. All they are doing is hiding 15-20% so that the perceived range stays above 90% after 10 years. I'd much rather have access to all the battery for initial years and just end up at the same place in 10 year's time. Tesla warrant their batteries - 70% at 8 years / 100k/120k/150k miles (depending on model). Half that figure and it would be more accurate for the competition. Cooling isn't too bad, it's heating the cabin that consumes more power.

Personally I wouldn't purchase unknown brand coilovers without reviews - Tein and other quality vendors put R&D into their products to make sure they perform and are suitable for the car they are being installed on. The ones you have purchased might to good though - let us know how you find the ride and handling once you have them installed.

  9. It's such a low volume part, and one they hasn't been used by Toyota for quite some time that finding a non-genuine part isn't going to be easy in this country. You really only have three options - purchase new genuine part from Toyota dealer (worth asking a T dealer as often L dealers are more expensive for the same part and this is used on older Toyota cars with 3G-GE engines (e.g. MR2 and Celica) as well as 1JZ engines (Supra)), import from Amayama etc. or find a secondhand part at a scrap yard.

  11. It's an in-house developed Toyota engine. They switched to using BMW engines at a later date for Auris/Corolla/Avensis etc. - presumably because their lack of ongoing R&D into diesel engines meant they were not competitive.
  12. I believe they are the same for all series III vehicles (2009-2015).
  13. The issue is fault codes related to the hybrid system, or recently cleared codes, which means they cannot pass the HHC - it isn't related to how often you use the vehicle. Typically 500 miles needs to pass without fault for Toyota to be sure there isn't an intermittent issue with the hybrid system before they will pass the vehicle and issue a warranty.

  15. Yes, I would imagine they disconnected the battery before working on the fuel system. You could try disconnecting it again to reset the system otherwise the dealer is best to diagnose the issue - if you have had a Lexus dealership service within the last 12 months you should be covered under Relax warranty if there is a problem.
  16. Standard cruise control on all recent Toyota/Lexus vehicles only controls the throttle to moderate speed, only adaptive CC will use the brakes to keep the correct distance to the vehicle in front - I guess this is to help with emissions/economy by not using the brake.
  17. Double check this but I believe the GS300 series II uses a 069 type battery.
  18. The F Sport is firmer with different dampers, springs and anti-roll bars. Vehicle height is the same across all grades and I don't think the F Sport bumpers are lower than standard. AVS was available at launch but as an option with the Tech & Safety Pack.
  19. It's now a legal requirement for new vehicles to be fitted with speed restricter/alert system which must automatically be reenabled every time the vehicle is started if it is disabled.
  20. Not typical. But the engine would have an electronic level gauge so there is one, just not available to the driver/owner.
  21. The problem with solar chargers is the power stated is the maximum they produce - on the brightest day, fully aligned. Realistically at this time of year you are going to get 1 W average over 10 hours from the 4.8 W charger and then nothing for the rest. So that's 10 Wh per day. At 50 mA (and I think that's a little low if you have keyless entry enabled) the vehicle will consume 0.05x12.8x24 = 15.4 Wh per day. So the solar charger will help slow the rate of discharge so the vehicle can be left for longer but it isn't going to stop the battery going flat over a prolonged period.
  22. Comparing on price, ICE vs EV doesn't work because EVs cost more to produce. An ICE 3/Y would be £10k-15k cheaper making much more comparable with a Toyota rather than Lexus, especially as they are volume vehicles.
  23. Tesla X and S are also niche. The 3 and Y are more competing against Toyota as they aren’t luxury vehicles.
  24. Toyota moved from just in time to holding stock for many components in Japan. Their vehicle availability was good at first and they increased market share in the UK when others couldn’t supply. Their stock ran out and so have a delayed availability issue.
