  1. He's wrong. They are toe control arms for fine toe geometry adjustment. Confusion possibly because Lexus call it the rear steering tie rod assembly.
  2. Indeed, but it will improve over time as countries switch to more sustainable energy generation and therefore make EVs more friendly. An ICE vehicle will always need petrol/diesel and continue to pollute the same as it did when first purchased. Which? just published their research into EV battery degradation. The worst (and oldest) were from 2014 with a 9% capacity drop. 5 year old vehicles are averaging 97% capacity. There is no evidence of batteries not lasting 12 years or more, just FUD being spread. There have been some early designs that caused problems, but that's always the case with new technology and battery cell manufacturing and thermal battery management systems are now much better - in the same way that early direct injection engines suffered problems, or no doubt early hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will suffer from non-optimum designs.
  3. Why would they be sorry? You select the most suitable option at the time of purchase. Anyone going electric now will get the benefits for 10 years before hydrogen becomes a legitimate alternative for the private motorist, and the infrastructure will be in place for another 10+ years beyond that, the same way petrol/diesel cars will still be around for years.
  4. Worth cleaning the MAF sensor if you haven't already. The procedure here is for the GS430 but all Toyota/Lexus models with a MAF in the last 20 years are similar:
  5. It's common for dealers to put their demonstrators up for sale straight away.
  6. Same power but higher revving engine and a poor/cheap rear suspension design (on the FWD model) - not sure it's an 'upgrade' over the CT200h in those areas. I doubt the fuel economy will be much better than the CT200h.
  7. CT200h has the same 134 bhp maximum system output.
  8. For the low pressure system the regulator is part of the fuel pump/filter assembly in the tank. For the high pressure system there is a spill control valve which sits on top of the high pressure pump in the engine bay which controls the pressure for direct injection. There is also a relief valve on the end of the high pressure fuel rail which the injectors connect into.
  9. The rebuild kit part number is 04493-53040. You will need to speak to your dealer to see if it is still available, otherwise import from US/Japan. The lack of parts availability is partly due to the fact that the series I IS wasn't a big seller in Europe (most sales just in the UK) so the third party component manufacturers didn't tool up, especially as it is a part which isn't shared with other Toyota models.
  10. I tend to use them unless there is a reason not to. All manufacturers can produce something that doesn't quite hit the mark so I look for proper reviews and take into account the compromises I want from a tyre. Tyre Reviews do some excellent tests and comparisons.
  11. I was editing my response as you posted your reply. See above.
  12. F Sport has different springs, shocks and anti-roll bars for more sporty handling. F Sport Design is just cosmetic, it has the same suspension as the other non-F Sport grades.
  13. it's a knock on from shutdowns and component shortages which affected Toyota later than other manufacturers but at this point they will start to give up all the market share gains they made in the UK over the last couple of years.
  14. Teslas don't need to be serviced for warranty purposes but they recommend brake fluid check every two years (changing when necessary), brake calliper lubrication every year to avoid seizing callipers and pollen filters to be changed every two years - they are happy for anyone to do this and have no service book to stamp. The difference is they don't have a franchise dealer network that needs a service revenue stream, all other BEV manufacturers stick to a conventional service schedule, although pricing is cheaper than ICE because of no engine oil/filter to replace. For the intermediate service Lexus will just be doing checks on the wheels/tyres/brake pads/suspension and top up the washer fluid. For the full service they will replace brake fluid, pollen filter, key fob battery and the normal checks.
  15. Service schedule is essentially the same as any Lexus. Every 10k miles / 1 year (whichever is sooner) alternating between intermediate and full service. Service schedule needs to be maintained for warranty to be valid, although as with any manufacturer's new car warranty by law that doesn't have to be done by the franchised dealer. Current price at a Lexus dealer is £160 for the intermediate service and £315 for the full one with no doubt some extra charges at specific intervals such as 100k miles for coolant changes.
  16. It's not something I've wanted to use but I'm sure I tested it in my GS in the past and it works as expected. I'll have to try it out in the wife's UX to see if it is a quirk of the LC/issue with your vehicle, or the system just doesn't work as you found.
  17. You should also have constant speed control mode which is essentially ordinary cruise control - enabled by holding down the on button for a couple of seconds. Although I'm not sure this is what the OP is after.
  18. I didn't help! Quite a major safety issue that took over 3 months to solve with a complete stop in sales - hardly confidence inspiring.
  19. Likely causes are the pump (most likely), wiring or engine ECU (unlikely):
  20. The UK isn't considered on its own. The European homologation process is too expensive for niche cars across the whole of Europe, outside the halo ones. The 350 engine would need rework for emissions in Europe, the emissions bracket too high (before 2018) and Lexus decided on moving to an all hybrid range - that has been their go to market for a number of years now (again outside the halo vehicles).
  21. Not just them, some Inchcape and other dealers are the same. But different labour rates, specific Lexus mechanic's training etc. Toyota GB don't allow their Toyota dealers to work on Lexus models, and thereby remove a revenue stream from the Lexus dealers who have invested in the franchise. It wouldn't. You won't get a warranty extension if a Lexus dealer doesn't carry out the service.
  22. Fuzz showed this trick on an episode of Car SOS a few years ago. You probably want to inspect the tensioner/idle pulleys and water pump when changing the belt, if not replace them, so it might not be applicable.
  23. I normally purchase Denso aftermarket/OEM sensors rather than a Lexus boxed one. Depending on the vehicle they have either direct replacements with the correct lead length and connector or generic ones. The benefit to a generic one where you have to cut the wiring and solder means you can do it under the car and therefore don't need to remove carpets - you just need to make sure you make everything watertight. Anyway, as stated by Bob, if you have a problem with bank x sensor 1 then it is pre-cat and in the engine bay on the manifold/downpipe so no need for seats and carpets to be removed.
  24. No mention of any need to reset in the repair manual, other than normal precaution of disconnecting the battery before working on the fuel system which would reset things anyway. Are you sure the sender gauge wasn't damaged/float arm bent when replacing the filter?
  25. There was but didn't think it included heated rear seats For the 2017 model year, Lexus introduced a new Premium Pack, giving owners of the RX F Sport the opportunity to raise the specification of the vehicle to a near match for the Premier grade model. The pack provides an impressive array of comfort, safety and convenience items, including Mark Levinson audio, head-up display, 360-degree camera, a card key and heated steering wheel. It also offers customers the choice of a panoramic roof or sunroof. Lexus don't even state the Premium grade comes with heated rear seats before 2018.
