Apologies. I didn't read properly, although the white writing over the picture makes it difficult to read so I did only skimmed over it. Try swapping the ballasts - it's the same part code on each side so the fault should move if it is that. I doubt it is an earth point if the fault is that intermittent. Does your car have standard halogen high beams, with only dipped HIDs? If so, does the high beam still work when the HID goes off? The high beam circuit will use a different relay and fuse but the ground connection will be on the same body connection as the HID.

As nice as the Series 4 RX is, the OP is in London. I wouldn't dream of recommending one in that location. You can spend all you want on trackers and other anti-theft devices but they won't stop a thief trying to steal it and doing ££££ of damage at each attempt. Until Lexus do a compulsory fix where it then becomes a certainty that each RX can no longer be stolen with a simple CAN bus attack (which they don't appear to have any intention of doing), then unfortunately insurance premiums will remain sky high.

I don't think you are able to - I've amended. -
RZ insurance
ColinBarber replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
I've never found Lexus insurance competitive - a bit like the AA in that regard. Your profile states you have an NX, you have posted this in the RZ forum and the title has RX in it. I'm assuming your quote was for an IS 🤣 -
Is300h F Sport Pads and Discs all round
ColinBarber replied to TheBro72's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Possibly, it could also be the pads not pulling back from the discs because the calliper sliding pins are starting to seize and will need to be lubricated. -
Not a common fault so surprising that it needed a new one - difficult to say if it was due to bad luck, external damage etc. Provided everything checks out then I wouldn't be concerned but I would certainly look for signs of accident damage, flood damage, general abuse. (moved to RX forum)

Is300h F Sport Pads and Discs all round
ColinBarber replied to TheBro72's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Not required because the IS300h doesn't have electronic brake sensors - just mechanical pieces of metal that will scrape the disc if the pads wear down too much. -
Based on other posts here it seems LV aren't willing to insure Lexus vehicles any more (to at least some people) - they don't seem to care which models are vulnerable to theft and have grouped them all together, so even though the CT isn't vulnerable, they won't insure it. Best to just take your custom for all your vehicles elsewhere.

HUD problem
ColinBarber replied to Magdalena's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
If you had Lexus main dealer services then the Relax warranty should be valid and the HUD needs to be replaced under warranty. -
The UX is vulnerable to a CAN bus theft - that may be why you are seeing many for sale? If purchasing from a Lexus dealer, make sure they fit a tracker and ODB geo-fence device which Lexus are now offering owners. Battery life - do you mean the hybrid battery or 12v battery? If traction/hybrid, then don't worry - you can get up to 15 year warranty if you service your vehicle with Lexus every 10k miles/12 months. If the 12v battery then that could be an issue if you are going to be using the vehicle infrequently (e.g. just at weekends).

This isn't really a concern with newer vehicles. The cat stealing craze seems to have died down, and newer models use cats with less precious metals in them so they aren't as valuable. For the current RX and NX, there is no cat underneath the vehicle as there is now a Gasoline Particulate Filter in that location, with the only cats in the manifold downpipes which are difficult to get to.

Traction battery charge
ColinBarber replied to Alan Salisbury's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Many modern BEVs monitor the 12v battery and will wake the vehicle and recharge it from the traction battery if it drops below a threshold. Lexus can't really do that with their hybrids because the traction battery is too small and will often be at a relatively low state of charge when the vehicle is turned off so cannot afford to discharge further. -
Series 5 cannot be easily stolen, series 4 is an insurance nightmare even though Lexus is starting to mitigate the theft issue. Given that the RX has grown with each iteration, you might want to look at a current generation NX (which the same 450h+ plug-in drivetrain as the RX) which is more comparable size wise with the 400h.

Given that Lexus has only sold 2 in the UK all year I would say no 😉 You cannot draw that conclusion from looking at the US prices - they are amortising homologation, staff training, spares holding, literature design and publication etc. over 10,000s of vehicles in the US compared to 100s across Europe. Plus the UK price includes VAT which is not present on the US prices.

Not much to look out for. If your budget can get a newer one with the larger battery that would be recommended. Sadly Lexus didn't update it to CCS charging, so no matter which year you get you are stuck with Chademo. Boot space is poor with the UX, although it is better on the 300e compared to the 250h/300h.

Traction battery charge
ColinBarber replied to Alan Salisbury's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Don't be concerned if the unattended period is less than three months - the traction battery will be isolated so nothing will drain it other than a slow self-discharge.
