  1. I think they are using Panasonic prismatic cells. In theory they could be changed but it would depend on how the seal the battery pack casing. Toyota/Lexus hybrid battery packs are quite easy to disassemble but they are much simpler air cooled packs. Dealers certainly won't be trying to replace a battery cell, any warranty work would require a new (or refurbished) battery pack. Manufacturers are using the 70% figure as it is highly unlikely a battery would ever degrade that much unless there was a hard failure of a cell. But they don't have to provide a new pack, it could be reconditioned with a degradation level that would be expected of the age of the vehicle. The fact that the Leaf with a battery pack of quite a poor design by modern standards (being air cooled without proper battery management) has minimal degradation kind of proves the press has made degradation out to be a much bigger thing than it actually is.
  2. Difficult to know what to believe but I think that info is old. The current brochure states: EXTENDED EV CARE From new, all EV components benefits from our five-year/60,000* miles warranty. When your vehicle is brought in for its annual health check it will be eligible for a further one-year/10,000** miles of EV battery extended care up to 10 years old/600,000 miles** for degradation below 70% of initial capacity. Having created the Lexus EV technology, only a LEXUS EV Authorised Repairer can give you the peace of mind and expert care you expect. and the warranty T&Cs don't mention any 90% guarantee. Like you, most new owners are unlikely to keep their car for 10 years so this isn't really an issue but given Toyota/Lexus are now lowering the buffer to give the vehicle more range, I don't think they are able to offer that guarantee. It will be interesting to understand how they handle this with existing owners that purchased based on the guarantee - offer the choice of either upgrading the software to get more range and lose the guarantee or stick as is and keep it?
  3. 30s apparently: When the shift lever is in D, the driver can momentarily select a desired shift range by operating the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly). Automatic shifting will be reinstated under the following conditions: - The vehicle has stopped. - The driver continues to push the shift paddle switch (transmission shift switch assembly) in the "+" direction longer than 1 second. - The driver continues to depress the accelerator pedal longer than 30 seconds.
  4. There is a TSB for vibration issues with the GS300h but this is an ECU update to stop the engine sitting at a specific rpm that causes resonance. CP-0082L-0614 Models: GS300h; IS300H DESCRIPTION OF PHENOMENON Some customers may experience and report vibration and droning noise when driving between 80 to 90km/h. PRODUCTION CHANGE 1. Software logic of power management ECU has been changed. 2. Dynamic damper of Rear differential carrier has been added. (*) * Applicable for ONLY IS300h Cannot say whether your experience of the diff is normal or not.
  5. Not really, other than you start paying upfront before you need a service and you would lose out in the extremely unlikely event that service pricing falls.
  6. Cornering lights.
  7. Minor tweaks to the engine and hybrid control improved mpg and emissions slightly. The facelift model is EURO6 compliant. Yes, and the F Sport is slightly worse than Premier because it is less aerodynamically efficient.
  8. It's been that way for 30+ years so nothing specific to the current government. There has to be an official price list that must be used otherwise the system would be hugely inefficient in having to individually prove what you paid for a vehicle - and that itself would be open to abuse. You anger needs to be directed at the manufacturers that inflate their prices and then discount them.
  9. The display can be set up to give you data for average speed since start/reset, current mpg, average mpg since fill up/reset/start, distance after start/remaining range, elapsed time etc. You can set it up how you wish (info at the back of the owner's manual) and you can scroll through the 2 info screen and other info such as the hybrid battery charge level using the up/down cursor buttons on the steering wheel.
  10. That's pretty much how every Toyota and Lexus works if there isn't an electronic warning - built into the pad retaining clip: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-phase-2-front-pad-wear-indicator/
  11. Ochre was only available until the end 2021. The Hazel alternative came in with the facelift but has a black headlining so your only option would be a cream interior if you want a light headlining and a facelift model.
  12. I'm not aware of any manual override on the RX series II sunroof. The gearbox doesn't have anyway to manually turn it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233753016871
  13. Cream and the Ochre/tan seats had the light headlining. The brochure and website configurator still show the cream having a light headlining.
  14. The computer can tell on the IS300h as there are multiple temperature sensors within the battery pack, and the system also knows what speed the fan is running - faulty cells with generate different error messages/codes. This error is highly likely to just be a partial blockage within the air duct/cooling fan but there is also the possibility that the blockage could be within the battery itself which would mean a strip down, something best left to someone like Richard unless you are competent and comfortable working with high voltage DC.
  15. The fact it was working and stopped mid way indicates it isn't disabled in the glovebox and that there is a fault with the system. If you purchased from a business rather than a private sale then you should get them to fix the issue for free as part of your consumer rights (assuming they didn't tell you the tailgate had a fault at time of purchase).
  16. We don't delete posts - they serve as a reference to help others in the future. AVS mode is linked to the drive mode and stiffens up in Sport+ mode, otherwise there is only one other mode, normal. You can customise a mode (creatively called custom) where you can set the suspension (chassis control) mode independently of powertrain so for example you could have sport suspension without having the powertrain/throttle response in Sport/Power mode).
  17. Assuming the mechanical keys haven't been mixed up and you have the wrong one (have you tried your spare mechanical key) I'd say you aren't using enough force - it always surprises people how much force is required on those little keys when the central locking doesn't take over - obviously you need to be restrained to not bend/sheer off the key but sometimes pliers are needed.
  18. Are you turning the key the correct way - it goes both ways for unlock and lock, and it will be quite stiff to actually move the mechanical lock.
  19. Have you checked nothing is blocking the air vent?
  20. Is your insurance company ok that your alarm no longer works. At the very least I suspect they wouldn’t cover any claims against contents from the vehicle being stolen.
  21. For adaptive front lighting you push the stalk away from you to switch on the main beam. The system will engage high beam at the minimum speed limit and slice the light pattern so it doesn't interfere with other road users. It will also place a bright spot into corners as you turn rather than straight ahead.
  22. Lexus Link App which allows remote car status, location, drive coaching etc. lasts for 10 years. Lexus Link Connect and Lexus Link Pro Multimedia map updates and online services is separate and lasts for 3 years on many Lexus vehicles, but 4 years on latest NX and RX.
  23. Lexus Link is different to the main connected services in that Lexus Link lasts for 10 years. No one knows the cost because no series II NX is 4 years old and needs a paid for subscription. Even if you were to get a price from Lexus CS, you don't know what it would be in 4 years time. However for my UX, the paid for subscription which gives me map updates and connected services is £120 per year - there isn't much functionality on the UX so the cost for the NX subscription might be more. Personally I don't pay this - use the much more superior Apple Maps/Google Maps/Waze via CarPlay. You purchase subscriptions via the my Lexus website in the e-store.
  24. Definitely sounds like a fuel issue. Did you use the priming function after replacing the return valve? I suspect the fuel drained back into the tank and created an air lock.
  25. Essentially yes. The screen is high resolution as well as larger and the CPU is also faster so the system is a little smoother. The system itself works for the lifetime of the vehicle, the connected services subscription needs to be paid for after the initial 4 years subscription has ended (if wanted).
