  1. A good outcome for you but seems like they aren't going to proactively fit these for people. Only those that know there is a theft issue, that an upgrade is available and enquire will get these fitted 😞
  2. No, there are 3 audio options on F Sport. As standard they have the basic 6 speaker audio. You could have upgraded to Premium Navigation with the much better 8-speaker audio (a £2,000 option). If you went for the Premium Nav then you could spend a further £1000 on the ML upgrade. Standard on Premier, but it was only available as an option on the F Sport, no other grade could be upgraded to ML, the other grades could only go to Premium Nav with 8 speaker audio.

  5. Simplistically no, but it depends how you ‘hardwire’ it. If you are just using a piggyback fuse then no issue, if you are splicing into existing wiring then any fault associated with that modification wouldn’t be covered - but it would need to be directly related. I.e. just because you alter wiring, they cannot claim a wheel bearing is no longer covered.
  6. The big issue is the petrol we use in our vehicles cannot handle the high compression ratio of a Diesel engine and so you will get pre-ignition which will cause damage to the engine. Diesel engines and the fuel system components are also designed based on the lubricating properties of the diesel fuel, something that petrol doesn't have and therefore these components will be damaged through heat from the excessive friction.
  7. You shouldn't need a tracker. The vehicle should have adequate security and even if it is stolen that's one of the reasons why you have insurance. You shouldn't have to pay hundreds of pounds on top of all the other costs. At the end of the day it is 'just' a Lexus RX, replaceable with hundreds of identical vehicles - if it was an irreplaceable classic then I see the value in a tracker.
  8. That and being switched on with the AC running but not moving for a much higher percentage than a private vehicle would as the sales people show customers all the features and functions. You see the same for petrol/hybrid demonstrators/used vehicles with mpg figures very low as they are sitting there idling for long periods of time.
  9. What happens when someone stands outside your back door and relays the signal from your key to a device placed next to your car? Answer - it unlocks. This is the issue people are trying to solve, not just moving the key further away from the car than its normal operating range. A garage with a metal roof and door is far from a faraday cage - but I'd say it is very unlikely your car would be targeted inside the garage, too many easier targets to go after.

  11. Everything can be done for a price, but to purchase new parts and have them fitted would cost more that selling your vehicle and buying one with the larger screen. If you wanted to upgrade to the latest spec then you would need a complete new dashboard as well as nav unit and screen as it is now touchscreen and positioned much nearer the driver. Even to upgrade your screen to a 2019 model with the larger screen would cost £4000+ in screen and nav unit plus labour for fitting and modifications to wiring.

  13. That's true but the CT and especially the LBX are targeted at a younger demographic to maintain/increase the user base interested in Lexus as a brand.
  14. Facelift models use a different nav unit so you cannot apply the same firmware upgrades.
  15. Modern diesels are much more sensitive to having petrol in them than they were 20+ years ago.
  16. The petrol wouldn't have any effect on the MAF sensor but it can cause problems for the injectors - whether it is related or you're just experiencing the general poor reliability of the injectors is difficult to say.

  19. It depends on the age as the different grades come and go but from a price point of view it is SE > Executive > Sport > Luxury > Advance > F Sport > Premium

In addition to the two user modes (normal and sport) and stiffening the suspension as you go into a corner to stop body roll, the AVS is constantly varying the damping force to reduce road unevenness being transferred into the cabin but how effective it is is very dependant on the specific road surface. Ride comfort is very subjective and almost pointless asking for other people's opinion. I'd recommend you test drive a couple of vehicles to see how you like it, one with and one without AVS.
  21. It depends on age. This thread is discussing the series III (2009-2015) where it was available on some higher end grades, whereas the series IV (2016-2022) doesn’t have the option - although some grades have an adaptive more traditional suspension.
  22. From what I can tell both option 1 and option 2 are Executive grade with the optional premium navigation (with the larger 10" screen). They both should have electric seats. Therefore option 1 is the better deal. I cannot say if it is a reasonable price as I don't know the Swedish market but it is certainly better than option 2. You should be able to get the infotainment system upgraded to support CarPlay/AA on a facelift NX (late 2017 onwards) - Dealers in the UK charge about £100 for the software upgrade. Here is the generic European brochure for the NX in 2018. Each country might have slightly different specifications so this might not be 100% accurate but it gives you an idea of what each grade should come with as standard. nx-brochure.pdf
  23. It could be carbon, or dirty throttle body etc. Ideally you need to use an inspection camera down the intake to inspect the valves.
  24. I'd go with a facelift model, so option 1 or 2, as it has a number of small improvements to suspension, engine/hybrid system and additional safety equipment. The GS is nice, but it won't hold its value as much as an NX when it comes time to trade it in.
