There are only 3 primary tread bands so not sure how you can have 5 readings - the outer secondary tread patterns aren't full depth and the design of the tyre has rounded edges so I'm not sure you would have even measurements when new. If you are wearing on the in and out sides then you possibly have your pressures too low.

Toyota production line shut down
ColinBarber replied to Navnan2's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Lexus too. They may operate on different lines but the whole factories shut down. -
Not applicable to the CT200h as that has ultrasonic sensors in the roof rather than a microwave sensor within the centre console as found on earlier Lexus models.

Lexus IS250 - P0420 - Cat efficiency below threshold bank 1
ColinBarber replied to Sponelis's topic in Engine & Transmission
Hole in exhaust and upstream O2 sensor seem to be the main cause of this error across different Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Faulty cat is a possibility but should only be considered if the other possibilities has been ruled out because they can be checked without the expense of replacing parts. -

Mileage and range?
ColinBarber replied to Martin Bailey's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
I’d say low 50s is easily achievable in summer. You would need to drive very carefully to average in the 60s over multiple drives. Fuel tank isn’t very big but you should be able to get 400 to 450 miles from a tank full. But these thing are very dependent on driving style and the type of journeys you do. -
I lose track of all the reasons/excuses for vehicle and part delays - is this latest to a specific model of vehicle or just generically?

Taking the plunge in to EV
ColinBarber replied to ivancrx's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
Sounds like they may stop fitting locking wheel nuts at the factory and only fit them in country (although I though that is what they did anyway - certain that is how it worked a number of year ago). Within the UK having locking wheel nuts is a factor in the vehicle's insurance grouping (which is why Lexus sometimes stipulate they are Thatcham approved) so suddenly stopping it may result in a group rerating. Possibly the delay is because some of the new vehicle's wheel hubs have a different design to old which require different wheel nuts/bolts but surely if cannot be that hard to find a supplier. Not supplying locking wheel nuts is perfectly fine, but they need to make sure buyers are aware by not stating so in sales literature and that the insurance industry is also aware - if a rerating were needed, the insurance industry would create 2023 versions of each model for owners to select when specifying their vehicle in insurance quotes. The keys are slightly easier to understand with potential component shortages but this really is wearing thin now given that most companies supply chain issues are now easing. -
Taking the plunge in to EV

Where is the evidence of this? All the charging curves I've seen and tests by people like Bjørn Nyland show their charging curves are average, with some other manufacturers being more aggressive. e.g. Interestingly the charge curve of the Toyota bZ4X is very different with new software, it doesn't fall off a cliff at 80% but doesn't charge as fast when flat. If you go with conventional wisdom of only charging to 80% before moving on (it is faster to charge to 80% and charge more often than going to 100% with less stops) then this doesn't really help, but if you need more than 80% to get to the next stop then you benefit. -
Battery disconnection for routing wire for dashcam
ColinBarber replied to indika's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
It's fine to disconnect the battery and you won't need a dealer. You just may need to reinitialise the auto one-touch windows by holding down the window switch until the glass reaches the bottom and continue to hold for another couple of seconds, then the same on the way up. The sunroof, if fitted, may also need the same - instructions are in the owners manual. -

wind and especially rain is also a factor - pulling litres of water off the road with every rotation of a wheel with a big wide tyres can make a noticeable difference. -
The gaiter itself isn't available from Lexus, only a complete drive shaft at the cost of around £850. Over on rockauto.com third party complete drive shafts are between £65 and £80, but you have the extra cost of shipping and import to add. Not sure if there are third party or refurbished ones available directly in Europe.

Possibly all in the front except the sub (I assume the 10-speaker system has one). Even the ML system doesn't have rear speakers in the traditional sense - Lexus made a big thing about repositioning the speakers for the ES to enhance the sound.

Being quoted £90 cost when covered under Lexus Relax?
ColinBarber replied to clonzana's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I would ask the question that if it turns out to be a wheel bearing, would that be covered under Relax and that your investigation fee will be refunded. Given that wheel bearings are mentioned as covered I don't believe they can just state wear and tear - they are implying that the bearing should last 100k miles. Where it wouldn't be covered is if the vehicle has been damaged, e.g. a pothole has damaged the suspension that then puts extra load on the bearing to make it wear prematurely etc. -
A Favourable UK Review
ColinBarber replied to wivenhoe's topic in Lexus RZ Owners Club - All-New Electric Lexus
It's a new model, with new technology and only a couple of hundred in the country - I wouldn't expect any of the technicians to have any meaningful experience yet. There are always teething problems with new models, even ones that are iterative in design, so whilst your issues have been unfortunate I don't think you neccessarily have a Friday car or the signs are there that this will forever be an unreliable model. This is disturbing if you have experienced this on two vehicles and the dealership is dismissing you. I would take a video of the issue - the last thing you want is a 200 mile round trip just to be told they couldn't replicate the issue. I'd also take it up with Lexus customer relations - they will probably tell you that they have never heard of this issue and you should just speak to your dealer but hopefully behind the scenes they will make enquires. -
Help I'm struggling with engine issues.
ColinBarber replied to MarkChrisian's topic in Engine & Transmission
No problem with asking any question. Regarding the DPF, it would be illegal to remove it and use your vehicle on the road so we can only advise you don’t go down the route. Here’s some more info on the subject. https://www.theaa.com/driving-advice/fuels-environment/diesel-particulate-filters If you search these forums there are several historical discussion with advise on how to stop the DPF from clogging but it can just come down to usage - if you never to long runs to allow regeneration it will eventually clog so you will need to do periodic cleaning. -
It depends. If you have adaptive headlights then there is a CAN bus connection between the two lights in addition to the LIN connection.

On idle there is very little air going passed the almost fully closed throttle body butterfly so symptoms are much worth than when driving. Throttle body clean is certainly where I would start but I'd also check hoses for a small vacuum leak and the coolant temperature sensor has also been known to cause fluctuating idle - but more common on the LS400. 3 - you would be able to feel the shifts under high rpm/engine load but should be very smooth at low rpm. Possibly could do with a transmission fluid change given it's age if it hasn't had one before.

Jack and handle and wrench in UX?
ColinBarber replied to KW Lexus's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
They need to be specific to the bolt PCD/pattern. The wheel itself also needs to be large enough to clear the brake callipers so you need to be careful in selecting the correct wheel - and make sure it fits (on the front which has larger brakes) before you actually need it. -
A few hundred UK policies not renewing isn't going to make much of a difference to a multinational insurance company, and share holders should be more concerned with the company taking on policies that have higher than normal risk of making heavy losses.

Aioi Nissay Dowa, which is part of the MS&AD Insurance Group. Whilst Toyota is a major shareholder in this company they aren't going to be able to dictate that the company run at a loss on certain policies - I think it would take Toyota to offer subsidies. Given that the plates aren't insurance validated it will take some time to see premiums being lowered back to reasonable levels across the industry. This is where Lexus insurance could provide something different - offer competitive policies knowing that the anti-theft plates have been fitted.
