MY24 switch over at the factory was in November 2023. No major changes, just tweaks to the idle control on the engine ECUs - not worth worrying about. Previous to that, the MY23 switch over was August 2022 which gave a major upgrade to the infotainment system and remote access to the vehicle via Lexus Link. There was also a half year upgrade in March 2023 which changed engine emissions.

The RZ in the UK uses a Panasonic Lithium Ion battery (probably NCA). In the US they have just announced a FWD RZ 300e which has a CATL LFP battery (this is essentially the same as the Toyota bZ which is available in two drivetrain / battery configurations in the US but not in Europe). LFP doesn't have the same energy density as the more traditional batteries and therefore you normally find them in short range models (e.g. Tesla only use LFP in RWD/Standard Range models, not LR or Performance). LFP does degrade, just not as much - but it cannot catch fire.

Lexus build to order and not in batches so that shouldn't be the case unless there are component shortages on parts that are only fitted to the higher end grades.

Range and charging are two issues that Toyota/Lexus are struggling with, mainly because they are two generations behind the competition. Car & Driver has placed the RZ in the bottom 3 for charging speed from approximately 50 EVs (and they even got it to peak near 150 kW) and it is the worst for quoted range vs actual for all the EVs they have tested in 2023. The biggest issue for charging is that is doesn't precondition the battery so you get very poor speeds in winter. Not sure why you got better at the Tesla charger, possibly the pack was heating up during your journey so was at a more optimal temperature but it also depends on what SOC your battery was at when you started your charge - looking at the charging profile on EV database you should be able to get near 150 kW up until 25% before it drops off. https://ev-database.org/uk/car/1677/Lexus-RZ-450e The Toyota bZ got a software update to improve range (unlocked some of the buffer and improved charging curve), has the RZ still not received that yet? https://www.caranddriver.com/news/g46011090/fastest-slowest-ev-charging-times-tested/ https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a46175713/ev-range-testing-epa-estimates-ratings-2023/

If the pipe has become disconnected then it will consume a lot.

Once mine wear out I'll probably go non-RFT all season.

1 - Here's a spec history doc that I've not completed yet but gives you info for the first couple of years. Lexus UX Series I.pdf Also a brochure from Jan 2021 UX price list 2021 01.pdf 2 - Run flats are only on the 18" wheel vehicles so if you don't want them get one with 17" wheels. 3 - Not really noticed any on mine - it's almost 4 years old now but low mileage. 4 - Yes but doesn't seem to be a target as yet. Not sure if it is more difficult or there are just more expensive vehicles to target (RX).

Kitchen light - neon tube to LED tube
ColinBarber replied to Mincey's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Get this one instead. It comes with a starter replacement (which is essentially just a piece of wire link in a starter casing). I've personally used one of these to replace a tube in a friend's garage to save the time and effort needed to replace the whole fitting. https://www.screwfix.com/p/philips-g13-linear-led-tube-2000lm-19w-151-3cm-5ft-/874je -
Unfortunately Toyota has only commissioned plates for the RAV4 (charge owners £80 for fitting) or the RX (free fitting). They pretend that ES thefts aren't an issue and therefore haven't had plates made 😞

Stolen NX

Major cities mainly. -
If you have the key code (normally written at the front of the service history book) then you can get a new key made which would allow you to open the car and turn on the ignition (removing steering lock) so you can get it towed out of the car park. Programming a new key to turn off the immobiliser is more difficult without another master key to put the ECU into programming mode - you may need a new ECU. Obviously a bit late for the OP but for anyone else, if you only have one key then get another master cut and programmed before you lose it! Don't buy a used car that only has one, insist that another is provided as part of the sale.

Then the work has been done or it wasn't part of the recall.

It's a shame it came to this but I'm sure it's the right decision. You can now enjoy the holiday season without having to worry. All the best.

Missing front bumper cover
ColinBarber replied to UX250h's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Unlike door mirror covers they aren’t available painted directly from Lexus. £25 is expensive for a small plastic part but that is unfortunately how replacement car parts are marked up - It’s the paint and labour that really adds to the cost. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ux-phase-1-n-s-front-towing-eye-cover/ -
It looks very clean and tidy but possibly superficial. To me it looks like the wheels, brake discs, callipers and wheel arches have all be recently sprayed (to cover up corrosion), but was it done properly? Certainly the wheels have just been sprayed with an aerosol rather than being properly refurbished (you can see the overspray on the tyres) so the finish might not last that long. These vehicles, at this age, are prone to corrosion on the sills and underneath - you want to make sure this metalwork is sound, not just had a layer of underseal sprayed over corrosion. These RX are also now prone to water ingress due to failing body seams and rear light seals - check the boot well for any water. Price seems high, but it is low mileage. Personally I'd prefer a newer vehicle with more miles as age is the bigger issue.

Michelin CCs are great year round for the UK, but something like the Michelin Alpin 5 perform much better in the snow - you still need to take it easy though.

Agreed, although I think you quoted the wrong person.

I once owned a Capri - paving slabs or a bag of cement was needed in the summer

I assume you have never driven with winter tyres in the snow?
