  1. Unfortunately I feel the dealer is being fair, providing the part at cost is good saving, although it doesn't look like they are giving you much of a saving in labour costs. Even when told the part is correct there should have been sufficient doubt to get it double checked by allowing the dealer to physically see the parts or look up on the online repair manual. I've not seen one of these units up close but I would have thought it was apparent that would be difficult to get an air tight seal if it was split apart.
  2. What firmware version is your Nav using currently? I believe F is still the latest.
  3. They certainly could have picked up data from their long term fleet and they probably also have some running 24x7 on the bench too. However there are other reasons for the revisions; cost savings or diversifying the supply chain are common ones.
  4. Changing the pads/discs is fine, the brakes are the same as with a non-hybrid however only push the piston in just enough to allow it to fit over the new pads. If the gap is too much you can cause an error when you put your foot on the pedal, which can be cleared but is an added complication. Changing the fluid/bleeding is more complicated and requires diagnostic equipment to do it properly as you need to activate the ABS pump.
  5. I believe you have selected the Lux grade with Business Nav and then SE grade with Business Nav to get those two different prices. The site layout isn't very good, it is easy to click on the wrong one.
  6. Possibly not John but that may just be because of the age. In a year or two they may start failing as well. If the 2008 model has a revised pump I doubt it was because of possible bearing failure, the GS450h would have been too new to have received reliability data from the sold vehicles in use.
  7. Potentially a problem with one of the height sensors. I think you need a trip to your dealer. There is no easy way for the owner to recalibrate.
  8. Check the following on the phone: settings > bluetooth > Lexus (i) Sync Contacts on All Contacts is ticked.
  9. If you can, get a facelift model with the 6-speed transmission. The SC is reliable, a common issue is standby battery drain, potentially caused by the Stereo amp drawing power when the ignition is off or other reasons - not really sure how you can test for this when just viewing a vehicle. Timing belt should be changed at 100,000 miles OR 10 years, whichever occurs first.
  10. I occasionally see a contacts transferred message so I assume it is all working.
  11. UV is the biggest problem but the spare wouldn't have been exposed to that. On the series II even though it is mainly covered up the spare is somewhat exposed to rain, salt and temperature changes. I'm not sure I would want to use a 10 year old tyre for long motorway journeys.
  12. I specifically looked at this today. On a very slight incline and whilst accelerating very slowly (1 mph increase every 10 seconds) engine revs were around 1,600. When level at a constant 70 mph the engine was at 1,400 rpm. Gentle acceleration used to keep up with traffic as car pull in and out of lanes never increased the revs over 2,000.
  13. If they are like the ones on the RX and GS you shouldn't need to get behind. You can push them back and pull out by grabbing onto the front of the lens.
  14. most Lexus transmissions since around 2004 don't have a dipstick which you would use to pump out the old fluid. People in the US state there is a drain plug on the 6 speed transmission, it is at one end of the pan
  15. Sounds like anti clockwise is unlocking - you may need to use extra force to mechanically move the deadlock back, that is what you need to do on other Toyota/Lexus vehicles - don't over do it and snap off the key :(
  16. you can unlock manually but the alarm will go off when you open the door. Once the ignition is on the alarm should stop after 10 to 20 seconds. or are you saying the doors are deadlocked?
