  1. Do you actually need to press the P button on the CT? You don't in a Prius, just power off the vehicle which will automatically engage P on the transmission.
  2. The 400h battery is different to the Camry. Each pack is made out of 8 cells rather than 6, the overall capacity is greater. The pack is at least broken down into three which probably makes it easier to handle.
  3. do you have a colour filter selected on your phone? The photo has a tint to it, and looking at the EXIF data it appears to have been taken with an iPhone 6 - the camera should be taking a better picture than that. The three little overlapping circles near the shutter button, are they grey (no filter) or RGB colours (indicating a filter has been selected).

  5. The LS400 is probably the best in terms of over engineering. The new LSs have a fit and finish that far exceeds the originals - body panel gaps and consistency for example were hugely improved upon with the LS430 and again with the LS460 due to new technology introduced on the LS production lines in the factory. Whilst the IS may be built in the same factory the LS, I believe, uses thicker gauge steel for the body panels, you have the better panel alignment, the paining process involves two stages of rubbing down by humans, the leather is buffed for many hours more than on the IS, 100% of all the speakers and amps are tested with a full burn-in at the ML factory, the headlamp glass is specially designed to look like crystal, and hundreds of other examples. There IS is a great car for the class it is in. It is refined and comfortable but not to the level of the GS, which itself isn't at the same level as an LS. There is a reason why the LS costs around three times that of an IS, and only a very small fraction of that cost is due to the vehicle physically being larger and therefore needing more basic materials. The IS has always had quite a lot of road noise, I'd suspect an LS driver would notice that more than most. Handling is much better in the IS compared to the LS, especially the series I and series III IS, but an LS driver isn't typically looking for that type of engaging drive.
  6. Many people have repaired a battery pack. This is one reason why I don't consider an older hybrid vehicle to be a bad choice, you don't need to purchase a new battery pack from Toyota for thousands of pounds if it fails. Granted not everybody has the skill set, equipment or time to do it themselves but you can get secondhand battery packs taken from scraped vehicles, and there are companies out there that will attempt repairs; cleaning contacts or replacing individual cells for example.
  7. if you suspect it thinks the seat is in the correct position then try moving it back/forwards a little and then press the memory button. If it still doesn't move then I'd say it is an memory position ECU problem, if it moves back a little then yes the position sensor would be the likely culprit, and if moves a long way to the correct position then.....well it could be several things.

  9. Never experienced this. How do you normally initially make the seat/steering wheel move, by pressing the start button or putting on the seat belt? When it doesn't work correctly does pressing the memory button make the seat move to the correct place?

  11. The only really spec change happened at the end of 2005. If you can get a 2006 onwards one.
  12. I don't think they did. Not at corporate level, and I don't think they did at UK country level either - it was a dealer option.
  13. It is a pre-facelift model (1998 - 2000) because of the old rear light clusters. In the UK only the 300 was available at that time, if it was an import then it could only be a GS400 - the GS430 only came out in late 2000 with the facelift.
  14. I don't believe Toyota were producing them, or even Lexus GB selling them, dealers were offering 24k plating services using companies such as Goldgenie (who appeared on Dragons Den). I certainly remember seeing the brochures in my local Lexus dealer 10 years ago. This used to be very big in the US - not so much here.
  15. Pros and cons to everything I guess, not having a hinged door pocket reduces the chances of rattles. Features seem to come and go, my older GS430 and RX400h never had memory seats for the passenger seats even though when new they were relatively much more expensive than the current IS, and certainly more than the older IS, which was available at the same time. At least with the current IS you can set memory positions against the keys, so you don't even have to press a button if you don't want to :) Still that is just a software feature so hasn't really added to the cost of the vehicle. It does seem hard to justify the list price of the IS, especially the higher grades. Saying that all cars seem very over priced these days - I'm getting old :(
  16. I agree that you would have spotted a solar panel, certainly if it is positioned anywhere where it is actually going to get some sun. A small battery, or a bunch or small batteries, or something bigger in the boot maybe? If it isn't a battery then what else could it be - Something that is also indirectly connected to the battery in such a way that if the direct connection is broken it actually draws a large amount of current therefore discharging the battery? What size fuse is connected to it?
  17. There is no code. The head unit isn't going to fit into anything other than another RX so that massively reduces the chances of it being stolen, hence the reason for no code.

Some of the early series IIs are now starting to have minor surface corrosion issues with the underside of the vehicle due to inadequate undersealing but I've never seen it bad enough to cause structural issues. Never heard of bodywork issues, except for the bonnet, unless the drain holes at the bottom of the doors have been blocked up or due to accident damage. The bonnet will get stone chips which may rust of the metalwork becomes exposed.

It is clearly aftermarket, and if it is truly reducing the discharge rate then I can only think it is either connected to a solar charger, or a second battery which is connected in parallel and therefore effectively increasing the total battery capacity. If it is a second battery then I'd want to know where it is just to check it is secure and safe so I'd try and trace the wiring.
  20. Try a cd cleaning disc in the drive, and also make sure there isn't a film of dirt covering the actual nav disc.
