  1. what was the compression reading? how low is it.
  2. The current 250 isn't firmer than the 300h, if anything it is the other way around. Most of the difference between grades is down to the wheels/tyres however the F Sport does have a firmer suspension.
  3. what are you trying to achieve and what do you dislike about the standard OEM parts?
  4. The engine noise is well controlled in the RX so it isn't an issue like it is with the CT. The CVT itself doesn't whine - it is the constant pitch engine noise that is different from a more conventional transmission where the engine is revving up and down.
  5. I'm on version E, it was updated to the latest software back in July 2014. Version F is now available. The dealer can just update to the latest, you don't have to do intermediate steps.
  6. Importing from a US dealer or a breakers yard are really your only options outside of the UK Toyota/Lexus dealer network
  7. Sorry cannot help with which connector it is however I'd assume that a heating element has failed if the fuse and switch are ok. Typically the two elements (seat cushion and back) are connected in series so if one fails they both stop working. The best way to check would be to disconnect the feed and make sure power it getting to the plug when the heater is turned on and also that there is resistance through the heater circuit on the socket. If you don't find the answer here and you can follow Toyota's wiring diagrams / repair manuals then just subscribe to the following for an hour which will only cost you price of a cup of coffee: http://www.lexus-tech.eu
  8. If you are opening the top and can see the coolant then what is the problem? However isn't there a piece of plastic inside the opening which stops you seeing directly into the reservoir? You have to fill it slowly otherwise it will just hit the plastic and spill over. If it is actually is full and you aren't using pink/red coolant it can be difficult to see the water line on the side of the expansion tank. Shine a torch into the open top to see if that helps. There is no magic here, all it is is a plastic bottle filled with coolant and you look at the side to see where the level is. http://teon.co/cars/lexus-is-petrol-is-200/manuals/51b71df7a1146032750000c4/chapters/weekly-checks/chapter_parts/checking-coolant-level I guess the only other possibility is that the clear window on the side isn't actually part of the expansion bottle but a level gauge just fitted on the side, fed by tube at the bottom of the bottle which your sealant has blocked.
  9. you see them on eBay. There are people who purchase the new disc pack, split them and just use the disc they want and then sell the others. Most people in Europe don't care about the UK disc. Just make sure it is compatible with your nav unit. The best way to check is to use the Lexus site to obtain the latest part code that is correct for your vehicle: http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu
  10. certainly worth speaking to a smart repairer. They should be able to state how well they think they could repair it.
  11. mine seem to come on too late. I've already walked up to it and touched the handle before it has even started to bring up the lights.
  12. I wouldn't go near a series III GS450h without a Lexus extended warranty. Too many issues being reported compared to the actual number of vehicles sold. One owner has managed to fix an issue very cheaply, what we don't know at this stage is if all reported faults have been the same. Looking at some of the faults described it seems there has been more than one issue.
  13. The RX has no such pump. The GS has a weird 2 speed automatic transmission combined with the CVT and it is a transmission fluid pump that has reliability issues. The only problem with the RX has been the electric coolant pump on the inverter, most if not all where changed under a recall so actual failures were rare to nonexistent. Many, many, many more RXs sold compared to the GS, and a lot are now well passed 100k miles without an issue.
  14. no setting that I can think of. Possible an amp issue, or the amp shutting down because of a speaker issue.
  15. if you are getting an alarm then yes it could be a pressure issue with the booster. When the ignition is turned on you should hear the pump starting, and if it runs too long without getting up to pressure then it will alarm. You should also be able to make the pump start by pressing the brake pedal, once the pressure drops below a certain point the pump will start up again. Installation/commissioning procedure attached, not sure how easy this is without the proper Lexus tools GS brake booster.PDF
  16. is there any cancelling of AA membership here? If you own an IS300h then you have full cover for 3 years anyway.
  17. There is no excuse for the NX to only achieve low 30s. The old 400h and current 450h can achieve that with a bigger body and more powerful engine. I can only assume that the engine takes quite a while to become loose.
  18. The GS is a massive improvement over the last generation. RX is very different, but you might like the change. Worth test driving both.
  19. It depends on which model. When it was introduced in the GS is uses sensors to determine it there is a passenger in the seat. For the IS and NX the system seems to have been simplified.
  20. The GS series II seems very sensitive to this issue. I would make sure your wheel nuts are tightened evenly to the correct torque and it may be worth taking off the discs and clean the hub and disc centre to make sure it is going on completely squarely, and the same for the wheel centre. It is also worth checking the lower suspension ball joints for any play.
  21. The low beams go through two 15A fuse, one for each side. The fact that the high beams are working seems to suggest the relay is working (the high beam and low beam get their supply from the same relay). If the fuses and relay are good then I would try and see if both the high and low beams are coming on when you flash the lights. If they are then you know the low beam supply is working correctly, and then the fault seems to point towards the actual light switch
  22. Yes I think up to 10% on long journeys and maybe even up to 20% for very short ones.
  23. It's the same. However 20mph should be 30mph in any of the Lexus hybrids, including the IS, depending on the specific situation.
