  1. There is no excuse unless you can prove it was a necessity, such as trying to escape harm. 100+ is normally either 6 points and a fine or an instant ban.
  2. Did it have new leather? They don't normally do that, the original cover will get refitted. I know my local dealer uses an upholstery specialist to remove/install the leather covers to may sure that are correctly installed wrinkle free rather than let one of their mechanics have a go.
  3. The throttle body has coolant going to it. Did you secure the hoses, or maybe one of them has been split from some movement?
  4. Adaptive cruise control (radar guided) isn't available on the 400h but is on the 450h. It maintains a set distance from the car in front which it alters relative to speed. These systems typically disable once speed drops below 25 mph so aren't useful in start/stop traffic. ACC is available on all vehicles in the current Lexus range - typically just on the highest grade and even then sometimes only as a costed option.
  5. Australia and Europe too: http://au.lexusownersclub.com/forums/ http://euro.lexusownersclub.com/forums/ plus the toyotaownersclub.com equivalents.
  6. I believe the 450h battery has a 60 Ah capacity compared to just 38 Ah on the 400h so there shouldn't be the same issue, provided you have a healthy battery.
  7. According to my manual the 'welcome illumination control' is a dealer only setting.
  8. Does it has Sat Nav? It could have a reversing camera.
  9. Highly unlikely they would have reused the existing fluid, but impossible to confirm one way or the other.
  10. The D at the end represents how we refer to the revision. G has just been released so you are 3 revisions out. It is only available via your dealer unfortunately.
  11. If you want to join a US club then join our sister club not a competitor http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/
  12. That is probably the starter relay you can hear then, and that is the place to start as it is the easiest to get to. On the GS430 that lives in relay block 1 which is OSF but near the bulkhead rather than at the front - may be different on the SC. The starter itself lives within the V of the engine, so right in the middle, again near the back. It is a pain to get to, the coolant has to be drained and the intake assembly and inlet manifolds all need to be removed.
  13. Clicking from where, inside or the engine bay? It sounds like a problem with the starter but worth checking the battery first.
  14. The IS200 ECU cannot really be chipped, so if there isn't a piggyback then it should be standard. Is the vehicle a UK one? A Japanese import wouldn't support OBD II at that age. I cannot remember which ODB II protocol the IS200 uses but I suspect your reader doesn't support all of them. I believe the sensor detects the 3 teeth on the intake camshaft - worth making sure those teeth aren't damaged.
  15. Yes just the one button on the F Sport, it presses in quite far. Did you have your ignition on? The F Sport has a harder suspension than the other grades, hence the bumpy ride.
  16. You shouldn't do that, it wastes energy in B mode by turning over the petrol engine to add extra load. For optimum recharging you should used the brakes to achieve maximum regeneration on the energy display but no more.
  17. The parking sensor are aftermarket in that they weren't install at the factory. They could be Lexus accessories fitted by a dealer but equally could be completely third party.
  18. You need to press and hold the button in until the light comes on, probably about 5 seconds.
  19. I don't see the low mileage as a problem for the batteries. I'd also imagine that in the 5 months it was started a few times? Maybe the mystery button is for a parking sensor? Check the rear lights and boot for any water ingress. Worth trying to how how corroded the underside is - they all will be a little bit at that age unless it has been treated which is unlikely if it hasn't even been serviced regularly. Was the display issue just the camera or other things on the screen? You want that fixed as it could be expensive.
  20. Fuelly is a good website to look at. That gives you real figures from owners. There are many people here able to achieve mid 50 mpg in their IS300h. What model do you have and how many miles has it done?
  21. The 400h is a full hybrid too. They make a big deal about it because other manufacturers have started to add hybrid technology but not as sophisticated or powerful, at the time of the 400h that competition didn't exist so there wasn't the need to mention 'full hybrid'. The 400h has a softer ride than the 450h but doesn't corner as well. Try and get as new as possible would be my only advise.
  22. I believe it is standard on all vehicles. Here is the press release information on the system: DRIVING DYNAMICS The Lexus GS 450h platform has exceptional torsional stiffness and provides an excellent base for the installation of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system, with 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution. Positioning the hybrid system’s battery directly above the rear axle aids rear-wheel grip and traction, qualities that are further enhanced by the use of a limited-slip differential. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) incorporates Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS), which alters the steering gear ratio according to vehicle speed. This demands minimal steering effort at low speeds, with improved feel and feedback as speed increases. The VGRS system is linked to the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Lexus’s Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system, helping maintain stability and increasing driving reward up the limit of the car’s performance capabilities. The sophisticated front double wishbone and rear multilink suspension design includes an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system, with a choice of Sport and Comfort settings. Sport mode increases the difference between inner and outer shock absorber damping through corners to help reduce body roll. At the same time, the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) reduces the steering gear ratio and the Electric Power Steering increases steering assist torque to compensate for the increase in steering effort. Ride also benefits from non- linear H ∞ control of all four shocks in response to changes in road surface quality.
  23. Hi Geoff A 17" spacesaver will be fine. The tyre will have a larger profile compared to your 18" tyres, the result is the combined wheel+tyre diameter will be the same.
  24. are you sure you are going through the setup menu and not directly into telephone? Menu > Setup > Telephone > Sound settings > Ringtone
