  1. Why? The RX400h is faster than the RX450h so its performance is nearer the GS. I'd imagine the primary reason for the comparison is budget - you cannot get a RX450h for £9k.
  2. If Toyota/Lexus could just build a vehicle which doesn't rattle this wouldn't be such a problem. As it is I'm not really surprised, must cost Toyota GB a fortune in warranty claims from the dealers.
  3. 400h holds it's value better and has proved more reliable than the GS. Very different cars to drive so you really need to decide what you want. The GS is slightly more modern in terms of gadgets etc.
  4. Great job Mark, thanks for the update.
  5. They have been making them in Canada for about a year now, but European models come from Japan.
  6. front grille looks awful, thank goodness that the UK requires a front number plate to break it up.
  7. That certainly seems correct on the first 18 months for the higher end models, obviously it will slow after that.
  8. I guess it depends why the gasket has failed and what other work needs doing. £1000 just to swap the gasket seems excessive.
  9. Yes, both via bluetooth and wifi tethering on my IS.
  10. When was the vehicle last serviced, is the air filter clean? After driving are some of the wheels hot, you could have sticking brakes?
  11. Sounds like a poor earth connection somewhere for multiple unrelated errors to suddenly appear. I think code 13 relates to a cam/crank engine sensor rather than the ABS.
  12. do the beeps repeatedly happen at the same location? If so then it would be tied to the Sat Nav.
  13. Definitely. If it isn't your fault then let your dealer take over the claim, you should get a Lexus courtesy car and it will be repaired properly.
  14. what are you looking to achieve. Different sound, cheaper running costs from a reusable filter, extra power (which you won't get)?
  15. Crown and Aristo (GS) are very alike as they share many components, the Crowns tend to be slightly bigger to sit between the GS and LS
  16. The MOT checks for Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbons to make sure the Cats are working correctly and the engine fuelling isn't too far out of adjustment. Vehicle tax is based on Carbon Dioxide, one because it is a 'greenhouse' gas for which reduction targets have been set across the world and secondly the amount of CO2 produced is seen to have a direct relationship with the amount of petrol used so you are taxed based on how efficient the vehicle is in its fuel usage rather than the toxic gases it produces.
  17. I've never noticed any difference after a service on any vehicle. A routine service is really all about preventative maintenance, it doesn't fix issues unless you were in desperate need for a new air filter. The IS200 isn't that quick but impossible to tell if yours has a specific problem without driving it. Have you driven another example to make a comparison?
  18. The whine they refer to is the constant speed of the engine running at high revs, it is due to the CVT keeping the engine at the optimum speed for maximum power delivery rather than the actual CVT itself - it is just lazy journalism.
  19. Welcome Brian :) There are one or two Celsior owners on here.
