You get all sorts of weird errors when the aux battery goes flat - I imagine you won't have further issues. Regarding the MOT, the battery is normally completely covered so it would be impossible for the tester to see if the battery was securely held down.

They aren't going to get huge discounts though and together with a waiting list the cost of a loan car would be a significant add to the cost. When I had somebody reverse into my Merc I got a loan ML which cost the insurance company £3,000 per week.

There is no electronic brake, it is just a transmission lockup and shouldn't really be used on its own as it places stress on the transmission. The parking brake should always be used and certainly from time to time otherwise it will cease up resulting in a potential MOT failure.

I don't believe it is possible to connect two devices at once, i.e. have a phone profile to one device and an audio profile to another at the same time. You need to disconnect your phone completely to register your wife's phone, you then choose which phone you want connected - at which point all supported profiles will attach.

Yes Sport+ is a little firmer, it also reduces body roll by dynamically stiffening up the loaded corner. The real question is in normal mode is it softer than a standard F Sport - people that have tried both say yes (marginally).

Maybe but that would have to be worked into the vehicle, either when they release the next generation IS or at the mid-life facelift. They have a safety pack for the IS currently which doesn't require extra work, they should just bring it to the lower grades - which they have done with the NX, it is standard across the whole range. Even offering it as an option would be something, I'm sure they make money on the price they charge so why not offer it up to more people?

Lexus labour rates are up to £120 per hour, but this isn't just about the amount paid to a mechanic it is also the additional overheads of the dealership that need to be covered. Parts bare no resemblance to the manufacturing costs, be that Toyota, Lexus or any other manufacturer, however additional markup is placed on Lexus parts compared to Toyota. Warranty is directly related to the market. Toyota GB could easily put on a 5 year warranty onto their Lexus vehicles but they choose not to because the competition they compete against in this country doesn't and they would probably have to raise vehicle list prices to cover the additional costs anyway. In other countries, again Lexus compete against their local competition and what the public in that location is willing to accept. There is also economies of scale at work here - the US sells more Lexus in 2 weeks compared to 12 months of sales in the UK. You can be upset/disappointed/annoyed/angry about it but that is the reality. Factor it into the overall ownership costs of the vehicle to make a decision of whether it is right for you or not.

Toyota is competing with Honda, warranties and labour rates reflect that and in that competitive marketplace Toyota feel they need to offer a 5 year warranty. Lexus is marketed as a high premium brand, the vehicles are more expensive with servicing and part costs reflecting a percentage of the vehicle cost and what customers are willing to pay rather than directly related to the manufacturing costs. There are also additional overheads. Whilst combined Toyota/Lexus franchises share workshops and some mechanics would be trained on both Toyota and Lexus vehicles, there is specific training required for Lexus vehicles but the main difference is the cost of the dealership showroom, the courtesy cars etc. As with most things, get above a standard level of quality and costs exponentially rise for just a small improvement.

You won't find anything in Japan. The sport is a UK/European commissioned upgrade, in conjunction with what was TTE at the time, to the standard GS which has retrofitted parts on import, not factory fitted. The wheels/caps were made by O.Z in Italy. Those particular wheels have been out of production for some time, hence the difficulty in finding spares.

It is just minor / major servicing. Minor at 10k, 30k, 50k etc and major at 20k, 40k, 80k etc. 60k and 100k have additional checks compared to a regular major service.

1 - Personally I find the standard F Sport a little too firm for my liking. The Premier model on 18" wheels is better so it is the springs rather than the low profile tyres. Given the choice I'd get AVS to soften it up a little, I just couldn't find one fitted with that option when I got mine. 2 - Seats are fine, although I do wonder how well they will be in 3+ years. Certainly on the F Sport I cannot get out of the vehicle without my leg going across the bolster on the base of the seat and putting a lot of weight on it. My leather has slight creasing but nothing too bad at the moment. The perforated leather needs to be looked after - you could get something caught in a hole and tear the leather. 3 - Live traffic and live parking info only. You don't get map/POI/speed camera updates unless you purchase a new SD card from Lexus for a ridiculous amount of money. 4 - Updates seems to come out every 6 months, really only to fix bugs. The UI is what it is, don't expect it to be updated. 5 - you will just have to do a bit of work on the Lexus website - look at the photos. If you select F Sport and do a search, then scroll down to the bottom of the results you can add extra options to narrow the search - selecting red interior narrows things down to 23 currently available. Further selecting Nav brought back only 13. However trying to find AVS is very difficult as you need a good picture of the mode dial to see if Sport S+ is written rather than just Sport

I've never experienced Lexus trying to get out of warranty claims, ,especially for mechanical issues, and haven't really heard of this from other members here either.

Not sure if this works on the RX but once they have dipped try adjusting them to where you want them and see if it remembers the same position next time. Some models allow this adjustment, others just move to a preset position.

I guess the point is that whilst you are happy with the comfort on 17" wheels it could be even better if it was running on 15s? Anything under 17" on such a big car just isn't going to sell against the competition these days. The bigger the better attitude wins here unfortunately. Lexus feel they have to appeal to the person who wants form over function - shown by the need to move to 20" wheels on the latest RX that has just been announced.

A warranty is there to fix manufacturing defects. Putting in faulty/incorrect fuel isn't really any fault of the vehicle manufacturer, your claim would be against the garage that sold you the fuel. There are some T&Cs which are on the website but on the whole the Lexus warranty is one of the best out there.

That is a pretty naive point of view. Just because one seats can pass a fairly low speed test doesn't mean others are no better. This is the safety review of one of the worst performing seat, but still fully legal - I know I wouldn't be putting my children in it

It seems you can add it at any time within the main warranty period. This is from the Lexus website: "For drivers who will exceed 60,000 miles within the 3 year manufacturer's warranty period, purchasing an extended warranty within this period will provide cover for the full three years plus the additional 12 or 24 months"
