  1. No, you cannot abuse the system. It has many sensors and will automatically come out of EV mode if the battery levels become low, the temperatures are too high etc. etc.
  2. Yes I checked mine, it reports the version in the old format with a G at the end. Glad there is another revision, G is just as bad as E and F as far as I can tell.
  3. The ECU controls the firing but engine uses external coil packs/ignitors so it's unlikely to be the ECU. I'd check the common power and earthing that goes to the coils. I'd clear those errors and see it you get any more come up, it could be another sensor that is the issue. Are you using your original ECU or one from the new engine?
  4. Welcome Dazzle. I hope you find what you are looking for, sorry I cannot help as I sold mine last year. Auto trader is still the best place to look for used cars outside of the main dealer networks IMO.
  5. the only thing I can suggest is to spend 3 euros for 1 hour access to Lexus' repair manuals: http://www.lexus-tech.eu/default.aspx
  6. you can turn off the touch screen button beeps, not sure if that also affects to physical buttons too.
  7. Welcome Ian For manuals you can sign up to alldatadiy.com which will give you US LHD specific info but 90% of the info relates to a UK RHD vehicle. Subscriptions are yearly, with discounts for longer periods. Alternatively you can obtain access to the official repair manuals from Lexus, and you access these on a subscription basis too, 1 hour is the minimum time period, so you can just pay as and when you need to obtain some information. http://www.lexus-tech.eu
  8. Quite a few IS supercharger members on here back in the day, including one that Janey knows well. Unfortunately a lot of the old posts were lost in the big forum crash.
  9. That makes sense, that is one area where Lexus make a saving, along with the connected services and the input controller. I don't mind the rotary controller, although it does take slightly longer to input addresses compared to the remote touch controller.
  10. That's good news. Sometimes it is just the obvious/simplest thing that is at fault.
  11. Welcome Mark. An ODB reader and Toyota's Techstream software will allow you to do this. You can purchase/rent the software from Toyota but it would cost you a four figure sum. We don't discuss cracking and illegally using Toyota's copyrighted software on these forums but a search on google or an auction site would allow you to obtain a copy.
  12. I think scaremongering is a bit strong. There are plenty of examples, both on these forums and others, where owners haven't used the correct fluid, such as a standard dexron fluid, and their transmissions very quickly started to misbehave. If T-IV is recommended/mandated then I'd recommend that advise is followed. Obviously a direct equivalent can also be used, such as the OEM Mobil 3309, and owners should do their own research to make sure what they are using is compatible.
  13. That's right, the new Advance has created a third nav option which has some of the features from both systems. I think you may be the first owner here with this model. Does the reversing camera provide you with the guidance lines that move with the steering wheel?
  14. Typically it isn't the gasket, or not just the gasket, that is the problem. The cylinder head and/or block gets warped so they require skimming and a thinker head gasket used to compensate for the metal that has been removed. Toyota started to supply dealers with new engines rather than letting the Toyota or Lexus dealer repair the engines as they weren't fixing all the issues and failures reoccured and the labour costs were too high.
  15. The rear sears also move backwards/forwards so you can increase the boot space if you don't need too much room for rear passengers.
  16. The standard nav vehicles all have the rotary remote dial controller. The premium nav equipped vehicles still use the remote touch mouse with the hump (hand rest).
  17. Unfortunately I doubt they will get anywhere with Lexus. If it's a 2007 vehicle then it is over the 7 year period. I'd recommend you ask for a full refund rather than they attempt a repair and then look to purchase an IS250 instead.
  18. There are four drain holes. The rears tend to get blocked up at the exit point on the floor of the vehicle.
  19. good to see you have some quality door locks/keys
  20. I'd request this is looked at under warranty, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be covered.
