  1. Well that certainly isn't normal. Sounds like one of the solenoids or the pump making the noise.
  2. This is by design and is still the same on newer models. You have to manually select which phone you want connected. Mainly to avoid the situation when both phones are in the car together and the wrong one connecting.
  3. The Lexus is set up to provide similar deceleration to that of an automatic transmission.
  4. The people who run the speed awareness courses, along with the police, claim that people who attend are much less likely to re-offend than those that don't. Seems that the majority of insurance companies agree as they don't ask, only one company does.
  5. All UK spec IS300s have an LSD as standard, saloon and SportCross.
  6. The pads glaze easily as they gently rub against the discs during regen braking. The mechanical braking seems to be more engaged than other hybrid models which result in the noises, which get worse over time. Heavy braking now and again can help, and given that loan vehicles sometimes get some spirited driving that may explain the lack of noise you experienced. I've had a very new loan vehicle and it was fine, others have been more noisy. My local dealer striped down my pads, re-greased and cleaned up the friction surfaces which resolved the issue for a few month and now it is noisy again.
  7. I believe the Admiral group of companies are the only ones that ask if you have been on a speed awareness course - with the aim of hiking up your premium. Give that you would have had a refresher course they should be giving you a discount.
  8. you can't exceed the red line, the cvt only allows the engine to rev near to the red line.
  9. I thought the VSC slip light flashes/illuminates when the system activates? Is your slip light working?
  10. Is your vehicle a facelift model? The first gen system isn't very good, and I think it is a rebranded Veba system. I'm not sure if the original player has dual screen output and Infra red audio output directly or this comes from a second unit under the seat. If it is straight from the player then that suggestion probably isn't going to work.
  11. The alarm is armed when locking the vehicle with the remote fob or smart entry and disarmed when unlocking uses those two methods. To lock the vehicle without arming the alarm you need to use the mechanical key. Normally false alarms are caused by the interior motion sensor so a good compromise is to just disable that sensor whilst keeping the reset of the alarm operating.
  12. Rev counter is basically a gimmick on a CVT hybrid drivetrain, the engine revs don't really indicate total power or road speed as it would do on a more conventional drivetrain. Toyota didn't even bother with them at all on their hybrids until they introduced simulated gears and sport mode - the RX400h for example doesn't have one, and in the five years I had mine I never had the need for it either.
  13. I would have expected something a bit more exciting than white too. To me the DRL look weird, its as if they have been taken off a smaller vehicle, like the CT, and just slapped on the bumper without considering how large the headlight units are.
  14. I believe the boot release can be locked? Is there a lock near the release? Not sure there is much you can do about the stereo security other than going through all the codes.
  15. Yes, Lexus have stated it will be at Goodwood http://blog.lexus.co.uk/lexus-gs-f-makes-uk-public-debut-at-goodwood-moving-motor-show/
  16. Strange that Lexus made a big point about the NX200t only having a 6 speed transmission because it was especially designed to match the engine characteristics and that the 8 speed wasn't as good and then they announce the IS with an 8 speed
  17. Welcome to LOC :) I'd never use a name to refer to Toyota paint colours - always use the three character paint code, then you will get the correct colour no matter what somebody wants to call it. If your indicators are staying on then you have pressed the switch too hard - just takes a little bit of getting use to. Personally I occasionally have the opposite issue where I want them on permanently and I don't push hard enough.
  18. The common problem is a brake booster failure which results in warning lights and a continuous buzzer inside the cabin - an intermittent ping noise is something else.
  19. possibly missing the point, you use it to look up a destination ahead of time not where you current are ;)
  20. that makes sense, we are still months away from the public launch of the vehicle.
  21. Connected services needs an Internet connection to obtain its data. This Internet connection can be either from a bluetooth or wifi connection, therefore you need a device that provides this. A phone which provides data tethering, typically using bluetooth, or a MiFi unit, which typically acts as a wireless hotspot. Many smartphones can offer either bluetooth or WiFi. WiFi typically uses more power so best to get a powered device. The advantage of wifi is you can have one device connected via bluetooth for phone and a separate device providing data services if that is what you want. If you go bluetooth then a single device has to provide both functions because only one device is able to connect to the vehicle at any one point in time.
