  1. Two fans in the current IS seat design. One in the centre of the base and another one at the top of the seat back. When you have the speed setting on high you can hear the fans when you aren't moving and the engine has cut out.
  2. Welcome, congrats on your new car :)
  3. Good write up although I've a few points to make: Not sure how the NX got in that survey given it had only just come out, reliability is yet to be known however the RAV4 it is based on seems fine along with the engine and drivetrain from the ES250h in the US. No first year tax but you will be paying £100 per year for anything other than the 2WD SE model. Economy reported first seemed very poor, although owners are now quoting over 40 mpg after adjusting their driving style, engine run in and the warm weather. Still this isn't much better than an RX450h which has a much more powerful and larger engine and is a bigger vehicle too. There is the 200t option for those who want more performance, at the expense of higher road tax. If you do want a noisy diesel then a RAV4 will save you some money for what is essentially the same vehicle with an inferior interior.
  4. What is a low tax band to you? The early series II RX300s have tax around £300 per year. By the time the 350 came out, even thought the CO2 is slightly lower the tax was ramped up to around £500 per year. The only, relatively, low tax bracket RXs are the hybrids.
  5. The fronts should be nice and easy. Normally the pins won't be seized on the front, some will probably be stiff and need cleaning/lubricating though.
  6. It will be interesting to see what economy NX200t owners can achieve. It may be similar to the 300h. Lexus should offer the 200t in all grades and make it cheaper than the 300h.
  7. I'd try moving the mirror in all directions several times which sometimes loosens up the mechanism.
  8. It is very nice although I get very little ventilation from the back rest on my IS, the seat cushion is fine.
  9. Lexus have both single and dual axle sensor systems, the RX400h just has the one sensor on the rear. Air suspension RXs use a dual system, as do some of the older Lexus vehicles.
  10. The fans are dual speed. When the AC is engaged the fans will operate at a low speed. If the AC refrigerant pressure goes over a certain limit, or the coolant temperature goes over 90 deg, then the fans will operate at full speed. You should disconnect the wiring to the coolant temperature switch on the back of the radiator to test the fans - they should operate at full speed.
  11. I doubt there is anything wrong with the downstream sensor 2, it will be affected by incorrect fuelling due to a problem with the upstream sensor 1. Replacing the sensor yourself should be easy, you just need a sensor socket. Cannot say how easy it is on the 450h though. It certainly should be cheaper to import from the US compared to purchasing from a UK Lexus dealer. I've used Rockauto.com many times without any issue, I highly recommend them.
  12. You're welcome Bob, thanks for your support of LOC.
  13. I don't think it is an immobiliser issue because when that isn't disabled the engine still turns over, it just doesn't fire. I'd say it is either an issue with the starter solenoid/relay or the ignition switch. Hot start failures are normally the result of a faulty sensor, or leaking fuel injectors that stop the engine firing, the engine still normally turns over.
  14. Jump started is possible the wrong term but the 12v battery can be recharged easily on all Toyota hybrids including the Auris and CT200. As the 12v battery isn't used to start the vehicle you don't need a lot of power from a portable power pack to allow the system to power up and once in 'Ready' state the hybrid system takes over and starts to charge the 12v battery itself.
  15. You need to find somebody in Europe who has purchased the disc set, kept the central Europe disc for themselves and therefore are willing to sell just the UK disc. That is why you find cheap UK discs on eBay.
  16. It cannot be done on the latest GS models - Lexus removed that functionality in the UK, apparently for safety reasons.
  17. Air suspension at that age of vehicle is just an expensive headache, it really doesn't add much to the ride quality. 400h is better on fuel and cheaper to tax, power is about the same however the 350 has less torque steer. It is quite difficult to find a 350, there weren't many sold in the UK.
  18. I'd go for a late 06 or 07 plate if you can, the vehicle was facelifted in April 2006. 2005 to 2006 - The SE-L gets the Mark Levinson premium stereo, Sat Nav with reversing camera and rear ICE DVD player/screens over the standard SE. The SE optionally can have Sat Nav with reversing camera and the rear ICE. With the facelift the Mark Levinson stereo could also be specified as an option on the SE. The standard pioneer stereo isn't bad, the Mark Levinson is definitely better. The rear ICE system isn't great - it is certainly possible to have an aftermarket system added which would be better than the standard system. Better still just to get a couple of tablets with cases that fit around the headrests.
  19. The revised system (oct 2000 X reg onwards) doesn't do away with the accumulator, the master cylinder is made larger and some of the components uprated which certainly seems to reduce the reliability issue.
  20. 86271 - 24121 works on the website and returns the following as the latest disc: PZ445-X01EU-11
  21. Sylm has an RX not a GS. There is no sport + mode, or AVS, or rotary switch To alter the ride height I believe you have to hold the button for about a second before it will respond.
  22. There should be less variation these days, Lexus seem to be dictating the prices. IS-F pricing on the website is £295 minor, £545 full, £895 for 60k and £695 for 100k. Not sure what discount levels dealers are offering for essential servicing for vehicles over 5 years old.
