  1. my dab reception isn't great, FM is certainly better.
  2. Welcome Mike :) Another new member from Devon today http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/101787-hello-from-devon/ Gold membership is here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/store/category/5-gold-membership/
  3. I would have liked to have the opportunity to contact the sysadmin, at least then I could have had a meaningful conversation :)
  4. Good review of the RC350 from Australia http://www.caradvice.com.au/357487/2015-lexus-rc350-f-sport-review/
  5. I think mr2lad's post confirms it is the same? Vais units are very good, just expensive.
  6. Well after some extremely poor customer service from Lexus, where customer relations would direct me to my dealer and my dealer would point me back to Lexus or they would ask me to try things that I'd already told them I'd done, I deleted my account. This obviously resulted in me losing the destinations I'd created but I'm now working again. I had hoped that the issue would have been escalated up to the European developers and operational support so that the issue could have been identified and fixed so that others don't have the same issue however it seems getting out of the marketing department that is Lexus GB and into Europe is too difficult. The Toyota side of the system has just been upgraded, my vehicle was registered on both Lexus and Toyota sides so their upgrade work may have triggered the issue. Having the vehicle registered on multiple accounts is supported but I'll just keep it simple for now to see how things go.
  7. Do you have a surface rust on the new discs? If a brake isn't working correctly then it will soon corrode and pit which will cause the noise. It the issue is with the rears then make sure the parking brake is releasing correctly.
  8. Looks like the mats/carpet were wet and that caused the mat to stain the carpet underneath?
  9. With the 400h these is no engine power applied to the rear wheels, there is no prop shaft, it is all done with the rear electric motor. Not sure why it didn't apply that. If one wheel looses traction the system will apply the brake therefore transferring power to the other one, maybe you needed to give it a bit more welly to achieve that?
  10. Apologies for going off topic here but just to finish the conversation, I've had three MR2s; one of the last first generation AW11 models, a second generation SW20 Rev 2 T-Bar, and a SW20 Rev 3 Japanese solid roof Turbo import. All three were excellent in their own way and the first one was my introduction to Toyota/Lexus.
  11. There have been a couple of issues with the reliability of the inverter, one due to the quality of the power transistors and the other with the quality of the manufacture. These issues were resolved with recalls with very few actually failing. I'd imagine that improvements have also been made over time with slight manufacturing revisions. This is a solid state device so doesn't wear in the same way as a physical device such as a suspension assembly however it is a high current device and is subject to temperature cycling so failures have to be expected. In the US there are also inverter issues related to coolant leaks, on the 400h and the hybrid Toyota Highlander, this doesn't cause a sudden shutdown of the system but does still need a inverter replacement to resolve the issue. I'd not heard of this issue reported on these forums in the UK.
  12. £600 to £700 seems to be the going rate on eBay for a used assembly - let's hope it doesn't come to that. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-RX-RX400H-2008-INVERTER-ASSY-WITH-CONVERTER-3-3-HYBRID-G9201-30010-/251989229009?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aabba7dd1
  13. It is very difficult to stop Lexus wheels from corroding, it's just what they do. If you apply polish and wax then you can protect them somewhat but if corrosion has already started then it is best just to get them refurbished.
  14. The petrol only series III RX, not available in this country, certainly has the ability to put 100% of power to just the front wheels. I'm not sure this was the case with the series II.
  15. You cannot replace the cell with ones from a Prius, they are different. However the battery packs can be recovered, either by conditioning the cells and/or cleaning up all the connectors. Here is one example where a member has had work done on their battery pack: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/99506-lexus-gs450h-hybridtraction-battery/ The B2282 is strange unless somebody has been tampering with the speed signal wiring to the instrument cluster - maybe to try and circumvent safety features that don't allow functions to be used whilst the vehicle is moving. I'd clear the error and see if it comes back first, just to make sure it wasn't a one off transient error.
  16. I'd question the hybrid coolant change workmanship, potentially an airlock or low levels could have contributed to this. I assume the vehicle has had the inverter recall work done in the past?
  17. You cannot tell that has come from the shock without looking further. Unlikely I know but somebody may have sprayed WD40 in that area. The attached is a TSB from the US on how Lexus would determine a failure under warranty. Looks like you have a level 3 which would be a replacement but it would only be an advisory in the UK MOT, not a failure, and the situation may not get any worse. Lexus shocks.pdf
  18. Yes, the upgraded Nav system with bluetooth, introduced with the 400h in June 2005, came to the RX300 in July 2005. Nav and the ICE package were options available on the SE grade with the Nav being standard on the SE-L. It is only the ML stereo you can't get on an SE before the 2006 facelift, at which point the RX300 was discontinued anyway and replaced with the excellent RX350.
  19. I don't see the need for you to be so aggressive in your reply to somebody taking the time to offer you some advise.
  20. The difference here is a new aux battery for the 400h costs £55 and is easy to change, just factor that cost in when purchasing the vehicle and you are then good for another 3 to 5 years. The cost to repair an air suspension failure is considerably more.
  21. Welcome Steve. At a general guide don't purchase an IS220d, get the IS250 instead. Too many reliability issues with the diesel engine - have a search in the IS forum for head gasket to uncover the horror.
