  1. An ECU update have been around for a while, that is what they are probably talking about. I had that done when I purchased my IS so I don't know how much it improves things but it is certainly still there after the update.
  2. The big change for the petrol model was the engine change from the 3.0l to 3.5l and a centre differential. For the 400h most of the changes were minor - hybrid badges on the rear doors, the stereo was revised allowing it to play MP3 files, the reversing camera overlays realtime guidelines linked to the steering wheel and a new acoustic windscreen to reduce in cabin noise.
  3. Duty is the same. Diesel costs more to produce and therefore is normally more expensive than petrol. Supply/demand alters the price difference with changes throughout the year. It's rare for the two to come together but currently the wholesale price for diesel is less than petrol.
  4. Sorry your post was moved from the LS forum because, it wasn't related to the LS. I'd try another browser, just to make sure you don't have an issue with the one you are using.
  5. Welcome :) There are a few breakers that put items up for sale on eBay. Not aware of any dedicated sites. What parts are you looking for?
  6. Don't do that. The system isn't able to recharge the batteries in neutral. Park or drive are the only two positions the gear lever should be left in for any period of time.
  7. The facelift was in 2006 however I think Daveace just meant he settled on a post-facelift RX, his particular one being registered in 2007.
  8. There are several grades that are permitted in terms of keeping within the manufacturer warranty however 0W-20 is the preferred grade. It is used in the factory and really should be used unless it is unavailable when you can use one of the alternatives - no dealers should be using anything else on Toyota/Lexus hybrids.
  9. Don't be too hard on yourself, the Premium grade isn't that bad. Obviously not a good joke if it needs explaining. :(
  10. sometimes the noise from a bearing at low speed isn't enough to be heard and only becomes apparent at speed. If you have the window open can you hear it at lower speed?
  11. Does your service receipt state what oil was used? Not that it proves anything but it is much more serious if they are stating that 0W-20 is being used but it isn't.
  12. The rear motor doesn't get used that much unless accelerating quite hard so I doubt it is that. Could be the diff, a wheel bearing or maybe a brake calliper sticking.
  13. I cannot say I ever notice that but it is possible. If the battery pack get too hot it will be used less. Make sure the vents by the passenger seats aren't blocked.
  14. Hi Dave, the pin with the bushing goes at the bottom.
  15. I don't have specific experience with the IS200D but this is a common issue on all Lexus vehicles I've owned, some worse than others. I wouldn't wait for the warranty to expire, try and resolve yourself straightaway if it is annoying you that much.
  16. because if you are only doing a couple of thousand miles per year the battery will be cycled too much for a standard lead acid battery to cope with.
  17. It would be recommended to get a deep-cycle battery rather than just a standard lead acid, which don't like being discharged. Something like an Optima yellow top battery.
  18. 99% sure the nav unit is a different generation between a 2005 and 2008 model and therefore discs aren't compatible.
  19. It stopped working after a nav update, not a phone update.
