  1. Yes correct, both the current F Sport and Premier have the HUD as standard.
  2. Welcome. Glad you found a good RX, eventually. :)
  3. Some dealers do just stamp the book, or just give you a discount on the main service down to the value of essentials. Not sure why they need to have a difference. Just give owners of 5+ year old vehicles a discount off labour and parts, that is how MB operate.
  4. Nice to see a dealership taking ownership of their own diagnosis. :) Hard to believe the ECU is at fault but possible is guess. Has the wiring been fully tested? I'd try and find an ECU from a breakers rather than paying £800+ for a new one.
  5. Welcome Alex. The sport has a slightly lowered suspension, alloy pedals, two-tone steering wheel, a mesh grille and rear privacy glass with sport logos. In April 2004 the sport also got a short throw gear lever. Looking at your picture it seems you have third party front splitters and side skirts - the skirts could be TRD but the splitters look too square. The 2004 sport came with 11 spoke alloys so again your ones look non-standard.
  6. Interesting but lacks context. I assume that the West Byfleet labour rates at £240 per hour is at the Bentley dealership, so to compare that to a backstreet independent in Birmingham doesn't seem fair.
  7. They are only prepared to pay towards the repair, not in full.
  8. SRT always achieved impressive results. I don't know of any LS/GS/SC 430s in the UK fitted with these to know if the ECU mods work correctly with European vehicles - they should do but the standard ECUs do have slightly different mapping to start with. https://www.swiftracing.com/SRT/item.aspx?id=86
  9. No, one because the odometer is accurate, and two the speedos are more accurate in other countries such as Australia, it is set up purposely to be over in the UK. The over reading is due to legalities. You will always be out to some extent. Tyres wearing down from 8mm tread to 2mm will give you up to 2% error
  10. You would need to go to someone who can mix the colour for you, as above Lexus don't provide a paint code - one reason is they come from their OEMs painted, they don't paint them with their own paint.
  11. You cannot remap it, the only thing you can do is install a piggyback ECU to modify input signals into the original ECU. Really not much to gain unless you are performing other things at the same time such as air intake and exhaust.
  12. Indeed, most aftermarket intakes are there for the noise. Toyota rarely get an intake design wrong, they are not restrictive and they do a good job of drawing in cold air.
  13. 200D or 220D? Head gasket issues are a major concern with the 220D. Personally I'd avoid that model unless purchasing with a Lexus extended warranty.
  14. Common in the US for changes every 3k miles. They seem obsessed with it, however oil is much cheaper there. Semi and fully synthetic oils and the company car/lease industry in the UK push the change intervals with many German models now able to go 20k miles before change. The 10k miles/12 months that Lexus GB uses seems a fine compromise. Certainly not hearing of engine wear issues since Lexus moved to that model over 12 years ago.
  15. Agreed, does sound like one or more of the drains is blocked. Not an uncommon problem.
  16. I don't think it is misfire that causes the issue but seems heat related. If you have a supercharger upgrade it is recommended these are removed. Not sure about replacement costs, most people take them out for performance reasons.
  17. There isn't much you can do other than make sure you use a screwdriver that fits the screw heads as well as possible.
  18. Dealers have to purchase diagnostics information and tools, go on official training courses and have facilities to a minimum specification to be an official dealer. As part of this commitment Toyota GB protect them by not allowing standard Toyota dealers to service Lexus vehicles. There is nothing illegal about this because there is no monopoly, Lexus diagnostic information and tools are available for anybody to purchase and as a consumer you can look to thousands of independent service centres - it just isn't allowed as part of a Toyota dealership franchise.
  19. This isn't a specific vehicle issue, it is part of the 400h design. Due to the fact that the hybrid doesn't need a large battery Toyota took the decision to use a very small battery to save weight, space and cost however the standard draw from the alarm etc. means the vehicle cannot stand for as long as other models before the battery goes flat. The Gen II Prius suffers the same way.
  20. If you have the phone charging then you can have Siri listening all the time and you just say Siri and it starts to take notice - this doesn't work if the phone is just on battery. Otherwise you have to press and hold the home button - this is one reason why I use a phone holder so I can legally press buttons.
  21. Pre-cats breaking up is a common issue with the IS200. You can knock them out, just make sure the engine is nice and hot when it has an MOT and it should scrape through.
  22. Unfortunately it is and in theory Toyota dealers shouldn't be servicing Lexus vehicles for fear of losing their franchise. Having said that I would have thought they would perform an AC inspection for you, especially if you said you wouldn't be taking it to Lexus whether they refused to look at it or not :(
