  1. Ask a passenger to try pressing the screen at the edges to see if the noise increases/decreases. I had this issue on my old GS430 at the off side top corner. Even though I knew it was coming from the windscreen my dealer insisted on replacing the drivers door seal. Once that didn't fix it they removed the screen and rebonded it. Luckily I purchased it with 2 months left on the initial 3 year warranty so it didn't cost me anything other than aggravation.
  2. If you don't need the coolant then your dealer should deduct that cost. The 100k service includes inverter coolant replacement, valve clearance check, MAF cleaning and timing belt inspection/replacement over the standard major service
  3. They don't include the replacement belt cost in the 100+ service - only an inspection.
  4. Just go with a blank script field, alternatively try the APN name which is everywhere for ee. If the above DNS servers do not work then just try the google ones - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  5. Toyota dealers risk losing their franchise if they service Lexus vehicles. They also shouldn't have access to the Lexus models in Techstream to perform diagnostics.
  6. All the best Phil. The Volvo looks in very nice condition.
  7. Capacitor issues seems to be related to earlier vehicles, never heard of it being a problem for the series II GS.
  8. The petrol engine is spun over to create a load. Fuel isn't injected so it doesn't waste fuel but the compression in the cylinders creates a load. Energy recovered from the brakes is used to spin the engine, the faster it spins the more load is generated. It will probably also engage the mechanical brakes.
  9. In general yes but the CT doesn't really have enough power to suffer from torque steer and the benefits of RWD are mostly irrelevant in the IS when you are driving along trying to make the most out of the hybrid drivetrain. I was specifically referring to the CT vs IS.
  10. You can steal a Lexus easily if you keep the smart access feature enabled, doesn't matter about connected services. The Jeep has its own Internet connection - it has a built-in 3G modem connected to the Sprint network. The IS and NX don't have a direct Internet connection, they need to teether to a device via bluetooth or wifi. If you don't teether it to a device then it is impossible to remotely access the vehicle.
  11. Does the GS support connection via wifi? That may be easier to set up. For bluetooth on the IS you just enter the country, you don't have to select a carrier.
  12. If you are running just in electric only mode around a car park then your battery will go into the purple zone and the engine will turn on to recharge. This is normal and happens whether the weather is hot or cold. Also happens quite a lot when in stationary traffic, e.g. the M25.
  13. The resistance spec is between 11 and 16 ohms - this is for the heater circuit. You don't measure resistance of the actual O2 sensor as a way to determine if it is faulty or not. You could use a resistor if all you want to do is clear the code, doesn't help with getting the sensors up to working temperature though. If you assume the voltage going to the sensor is around 14v once the engine is running then if you used a 14 ohm resistor the current would be 1 amp. The wattage of the resistor needed would need to be at least 14 watts (14 volts x 1 amp). It would get very hot so you need to make sure it doesn't burn anything nearby.
  14. Glad everything is now as it should be. Enjoy. :)
  15. This is how all the initial Lexus dealerships started out, as an extension of the Toyota dealership. Most Lexus dealers still use a common workshop facility. The mechanics working on the Lexus vehicles should have had additional training on those models though. The additional service costs are related to the building the service is carried out in - that is the dealership facilities as a whole, the courtesy car, the additional training and extra insurance costs.
  16. I just got some for my wife's car, certainly seem fine so far. I always used to just purchase the Toyota rubber refills but the price of those is just stupid these days, they should be around £3. I think I'll try some of the flat blade ones for my IS.
  17. I think there may be a screw/bolt holding it in place.
  18. No benefit in terms of economy. If the braking force can be achieve by the regen system then it is the same as just lightly braking using the pedal. If the 'gear' selected means more braking force is needed over what the regen system can provide then it will turn over the petrol engine to generate an extra load - which is wasting energy. Benefits to doing what you are is you don't have to press the brake pedal and you may get better performance 'in gear' if you suddenly need to accelerate again.
  19. Welcome. I'd forget about the exhaust tips, unless you want to go with an IS200t rather than IS300h
  20. The difference is that Tesla will actively work with the white hat hackers to resolve the issue and employ people who know what they are doing, which results in fixes within days rather than years :) Personally I'd feel safer in a Tesla compared to a BMW or Lexus.
  21. Yes essentially that is correct. If you use light braking to avoid the needle going beyond the bottom then you will achieve as much energy recovery as possible. This is one reason why the power gauge is more useful than the tacho.
