  1. For all you NX owners out there, what alternatives to the NX did you consider before making your decision?
  2. The fuse is labelled 'gauge'. I believe it is in the drivers kick panel fusebox.
  3. There is the 10A gauge fuse which feeds the light, but that would also affect other things on the dashboard. There is nothing else fuse wise. The cruise control itself uses the electronic throttle motor that your accelerator uses rather than a dedicated actuator. If the fuse is ok then my first guess would be a faulty switch or wiring to it.
  4. This really doesn't have anything to do with Toyota/Lexus other than Google chose to use the RX as their development vehicle. Here is the real Toyota/Lexus driverless car, but sadly seems way behind the leaders in this field. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-34464450
  5. Between 1999 and 2001 there were three grades: IS200 S IS200 SE IS200 Sport With the facelift in September 2001 the grades were renamed: IS200 IS200 SE IS200 Sport The S, compared to the SE, doesn't have a sunroof, leather, heated front seats (not really needed with cloth), headlamp washers, electric drivers seat and front windscreen de-icer. The S also only has a 6 speaker audio system, without a separate amp, and 16" wheels rather than 17" which are on the other grades.
  6. You can access the wiring diagrams from Lexus on a timed basis: https://www.lexus-tech.eu an hour access is only around £2.50.
  7. Unlike a misfire error code, that coil pack code is highly likely to be correct in that it is the coil pack that is faulty, but certainly worth just swapping it to make sure the fault code moves with the coil. These coil packs seems to be a weak point of the 350 engine. As Chris has said I'd get a Denso unit. You can import them from RockAuto for around £70 including 2 day shipping and all taxes, but you may want to see if they are stocked in the UK so you don't have such high shipping costs. You can get the correct Denso plugs from Rock too.
  8. Looks like the RC will have a higher standard spec compared to the IS, hence the additional cost.
  9. Rock Auto allow you to pay it all up front so you know the full cost and it doesn't get delayed.
  10. MODEL OTR PRICE RX 200t S £39,995 RX 200t Luxury £45,995 RX 200t F Sport £48,995 RX 450h SE £46,995 RX 450h Luxury £49,995 RX 450h F Sport £52,995 RX 450h Premier £57,995
  11. From the Lexus IS press pack: Lexus Premium Navigation with 8-speaker audio, DAB, DVD player, Remote Touch Interface and rearview camera 15-speaker Mark Levinson 5.1-channel surround sound system with Auto Volume, DVD player and DAB tuner with Remote Touch controller
  12. It always assumes me when people say their 10 year old vehicle with 100k miles on the clock drives like new. Clearly they never drove it new or they have long forgotten what it felt like.
  13. The drop links can wear without splitting, not sure how common that is though. Typically they are tested with the follow procedure, in addition to just checking if there is any play:
  14. The series II and series III IS use completely different audio systems so even if it is supported it wouldn't confirm things for you.
  15. The premium nav manual specifically states that DVD audio and SACD discs are not supported. The manual doesn't mention ML so maybe those things are supported.
  16. Yes, seems to be Yokos for the 17" wheels and Dunlops for the 18". Not sure what they are currently using for the 16". I doubt there is a big difference between them.
  17. Typically suspension gets softer with age as things wear but it is possible for a suspension strut to get stiffer and also be the cause of the clonk, although there are several others components that could be making the noise.
  18. The government has confirmed that owners will not pay more tax because they purchased the vehicles in good faith. At present it is unknown if the modifications will result in increased CO2 emissions. VW also haven't confirmed what modifications they will be making, certainly no mention of upgrading to EU6.
  19. I think you are possibly given the major manufacturers too much credit. More likely is these larger companies have longer product cycles so they haven't redesigned all their range yet to achieve the best test results. The smaller companies are more agile and will quickly develop a new tyre to 'beat' the tests. We already know the manufacturers are designing tread patterns to deflect sound into the vehicle, away from the microphone on the kerb. This results in a better sound score but is more noisy inside the vehicle. It is also easy to design a tyre that is quite on the smooth testing surface but then performs horribly on normal UK road surfaces. These are two reason why the dB rating of tyres is no indication on how quite a tyre will be to the driver of the vehicle.
  20. Those Dunlop tyres are now the factory fitted tyres for the IS instead of the Bridgestones.
  21. The noise and economy ratings are basically nonsense, grip does bare some resemblance to real life but there are many other factors to consider such as comfort, cornering ability, wear, rim protection and some people even make a choice based on how well the tread pattern looks.
  22. That you don't have air suspension and therefore you don't have the SE-L grade.
