  1. Certainly an improvement and a bit faster although still the same old used car section with the annoying model selector. Car configurator needs a lot of work.
  2. A mistake on the website, or previous owner could have clocked it before trading it in. I'd wait to see what they say.
  3. Welcome Nik 1 - Yes the 2006 facelift models have MP3 support on CD. Check your owners manual, there are restriction on folders, filenames etc. 2 - Unfortunately not 3 - Standard composite video and line level audio 4 - It is in the boot, under the floor on the right.
  4. Whoever does the timing make sure they have the official procedure to hand. It is easy to get wrong, apparently as demonstrated by the dealer who worked on your vehicle.
  5. Welcome. The PVC is on the side of the engine just above the exhaust manifold at the rear. It is on the end of the hose connecting to the engine.
  6. The series II RX doesn't have an auto recirculation function at all, let alone an adjustable one :(
  7. The rear motor doesn't take up much space, essentially built into the rear diff. The NX battery pack is made up of 204 cells, the IS uses 192 cells. The issue being discussed here is that the NX kicks in the petrol engine much sooner than the IS, this isn't down to the battery capacity or the power that can be delivered by the electric motor - it just seems to be the way the system has been programmed to operate.
  8. You are in a tough position here as you weren't the owner when the work was carried out. All you can do is speak to the dealership who carried out the work and see what they say. Many dealers own multiple franchises, one of which may be closer to you - if that is the case then I'd ask if you can go to the local garage. If you don't get any joy with the dealership then speak to Lexus customer relations however I think you may end up having to pay to get this corrected, or do it yourself. A positive here is that it is quite likely that the fault was introduced as part of the valve work carried out, that means it should be a simple fix rather than an issue with the camshafts/VVTi controllers.
  9. Mpg is worse in California, the US have smaller gallons :P
  10. The NX has a larger battery compared to the IS which offsets the extra weight. The issue seems to be how the software has been programmed, Lexus specifically state the engine is designed to rev faster for a given accelerator pedal angle compared to previous hybrids
  11. You would normally expect other codes with a stretched chain or jumped tooth. Cannot really see how the valve issue is causing this, more likely is the valve work was done and the timing wasn't set correctly afterwards. Poor oil could stop the VVTi controllers working correctly which the sensor would detect, rather than the sensor itself being directly affected.
  12. It is possible but there are other reasons for that error code too. How many miles has your vehicle done?
  13. Absolutely, are you not able to feed a tube down with everything still in place?
  14. The MK1 is a great car, hopefully you haven't been hit with too much rust?
  15. Lexus are renowned for making mistakes with their information in brochures, press releases and website :( My earlier posting is more accurate, cruise control is only available on the SE-L with the convenience pack option.
  16. A Lexus used car warranty yes. The initial three year manufacturers warranty, no.
  17. No need to use neutral. The regen braking can only apply a small amount of force, everything above that is done with the mechanical brakes. The energy meter shows this, once the needle is at the end of the recovery section and extra effort is with the mechanical brakes. Do some high speed heavy braking. If the noise is still there then the pads may be glazed and need removing and filing down, or the surface of the disc is corroded.
  18. Lexus didn't mention it being a first in 1997/1998 when it was introduced to the GS and LS. FYI, on the GS if you press and hold the recirculate button for 5 seconds you get the option to change the sensitivity of the system - I'm sure it will be the same on the LS too.
  19. Lexus give the following guidance, most of the tips apply to all vehicles rather than just hybrids but still useful. The one I partly disagree with is using full throttle for short bursts, you should accelerate briskly but not at full throttle. http://www.lexus.co.uk/hybrid/fuel-economy/#/HybridDrivingTips
  20. Has anybody compared 300h with the 200t? I thought that may be the way to go but a couple of reviews I've read were quite negative with the engine and transmission combination and actually preferred the hybrid drivetrain.
  21. You could potentially pass a smaller tube down inside the old one and seal at the top to make sure water cannot pass between the two. The diameter of the new tube would have to be quite small so you would regularly need to make sure it wasn't blocked. If you believe the pipe has detached from the top mounting then it may be difficult to feed the new pipe into the old.
  22. Moved to the correct forum General Topics that are NOT Lexus or even car related.
  23. I think up to ten year old the trade doesn't have an issue with hybrids. The Toyota/Lexus technology is well proven. Used Prius hold their value well.
