  1. The reason for the starting issue was you drained the 12v aux battery. Has this been checked to make sure it is correctly charged and able to maintain a charge? As for the light, it possible is in a auto programming mode - somehow triggered by poor electrical supply. Sorry I don't know the procedure for programming the security system manually, a dealer would be able to resolve the issue using their Techstream diagnostics software.
  2. The IS doesn't have an EV drivetrain, it has a hybrid drivetrain. No point in fitting a huge battery and a decent petrol engine together, the weight would be too much, and Lexus owners do not want a small petrol generator as a backup. Teslas are starting to suffer long term reliability problems. Owners are complaining of battery packs and motors needing to be replaced, along with other issues. Toyota have a long established reliability reputation to protect, one reason why they haven't moved to Lithium Ion batteries.
  3. Different part codes for the 200 and 300. Altezza AS200 would be the same, as it is essentially the same vehicle, I doubt the Altezza RS200 mounts would be suitable.
  4. There is a TSB - if a customer experiences the issue within warranty it will be resolved. Lexus are never going to do a voluntary recall for this, the vast majority of owners don't even notice, and it will never be a compulsory recall as it does affect safety.
  5. The ES350 wasn't available in the UK and even if it was the US versions have different emission controls so I don't think you can assume a certain level can be applied. The closest thing we had was the RX350 which uses a similar engine. The engine in the ES350 almost certainly isn't Euro V compliant, as that wasn't enforced to existing vehicles until 2011, so the best you can hope for is Euro IV.
  6. There is a temperature switch on the radiator which controls the fans which could be faulty. Or your main thermostat on the engine could be stuck which doesn't allow the engine coolant to circulate fully around the radiator, so the radiator coolant never gets hot enough to trigger the fans.
  7. You can achieve over 40 mpg in a LS400 V8
  8. Sell the 200 and buy a 300, instant 58 bhp increase :)
  9. The fans operate at two speeds, slow when the AC is turned on and full speed when the water temperature reaches a certain temperature in the radiator. Therefore even though they work with the AC it doesn't mean they are functioning correctly.
  10. you can get them from Lexus: http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu type in your existing part code on the disc and it will automatically select the latest disc that works in your system. They are quite expensive, an alternative is to look on ebay for somebody splitting the disc set if all you want is the UK disc. Be very careful to get the correct one though, there are multiple Lexus navigation generations which aren't compatible with each other.
  11. No, there is a hatch on the right hand side of the tool tray which you remove to expose the player. The following post has a picture of the DVD player with the cover removed: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/104573-entertainment-centre-questions-for-new-owner/
  12. A stethoscope is an essential tool for any workshop, makes it easy to identify a noisy fuel injector, faulty bearings, air leaks etc. The current IS is certainly better than previous but sadly still not as good as it could be. Same with the GS too.
  13. Cylinders 1 and 2 are at the front of the vehicle
  14. The LS isn't a big modders car, hence not many parts available. Even if they are available it is normally cheaper to import from the US anyway.
  15. As above we are talking about a used car warranty rather than manufacturer new car warranty. The extra cost isn't just for a stamp, there are additional things checked/replaced on a standard service compared to essentials - also the essentials pricing has some discount applied. It's all about encouraging owners of older vehicles to use main dealers for servicing rather than third parties or not bothering at all.
  16. If your white is the one discussed in the following link I'd want it protected. Cannot see how any paint shop in the UK is going to be able to properly match it! https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/magazine/articles/Vehicle-Insider/Paint-Division
  17. Thanks for the post, I'm sure it will be useful for some other members. What a state those brakes were in! For people who are reasonable light on braking, they would probably never know how bad their brakes are as with a hybrid as most of the braking effort is provided by the electric motors rather than the mechanical brakes.
  18. You need to eliminate some things first as previously stated. Get the voltage checked out first.
  19. Typically an essentials service doesn't stamp your main service book, but an alternative one. I'm still to understand why Lexus think this is necessary. Some dealer will just stamp the main book. If your car is under warranty then that is a good reason to get Lexus to service it, otherwise you are just throwing money away by invalidating the warranty. I assume an essentials service is enough to satisfy the warranty T&Cs, it isn't 100% clear. If you are considering this then I would contact Lexus GB to get it clarified, I wouldn't just rely on what a dealership said.
  20. You just hear it more, especially if the engine isn't running.
  21. Just a standard Toyota A series automatic transmission made Aisin
