  1. It could be a number of things but likely to be the upstream air/fuel ratio sensor on bank 1 as already discussed.
  2. Engine oil get contaminated with moisture and combustion remnants, is subjected to much higher temperatures and is in contact with a constant supply of fresh air which cause oxidation. A transmission is a closed system so change intervals are less and with modern fluids the interval is so long the manufacturers state lifetime.
  3. All engines in Lexus vehicles are Toyotas, Lexus is just a marketing and design house of Toyota.
  4. On inclines you would typically let the vehicle slow slightly, and the opposite when going down which is more fuel efficient than trying to keep an exact speed. You can also take into account the road ahead and easy off if you are coming up to traffic.
  5. Definitely on the IS/GS300h. If I completely lift off it will go to EV at a higher speed, and it will also switch into EV much easier when I partially lift off, whereas in normal I'd have to completely lift off. I agree that sport mode is the opposite, it keeps the petrol engine on a lot more and it holds a higher engine rpm under gentle acceleration.
  6. Is there an oil seal on the tensioner bolt? If not then it would leak oil if was open behind - I'm sure it isn't.
  7. I don't know if similar parts are available from rockauto.com but they allow you to pay all the duty upfront so you know exactly how much you will pay.
  8. I'd use bluetooth for the vehicle, which will work every time you start the vehicle without having to touch your phone and enable wifi hotspot on the phone for the times when people also want to connect other devices. The iPhone typically limits you to five concurrently connected devices but I believe this can be carrier controlled. I've never really understood why the carriers either stop you, or want to charge you extra, for tethering. They make money when you use data so they should encourage you to use more.
  9. It isn't just throttle map and aircon, ECO mode will switch to EV mode more often too.
  10. tyre pressures, and the actual make/model of tyres would be the most obvious things the consider. I'd also check the wheel temperatures of the one with lower mpg after a journey, if there are wheels hot then that indicates a sticking brake calliper. Do both vehicles have the same tyre size?
  11. If it's like the IS then you need to power on the wifi first - a setting somewhere. Personally I don't bother and just use bluetooth to tether to my iPhone. For the iPhone to allow wifi tethering you need to go into hotspot settings for it to become visible which is too much hassle, with bluetooth it will just allow the connection automatically without having to touch the phone.
  12. What videos are these? Do you have a current shape RX or the older 2009-2016 one?
  13. My figures were actual. Fuel computers on all my Lexus vehicles have always read 1 to 3 mpg beyond reality.
  14. What did you get in your old RX300? 20 mpg around town isn't uncommon, you would get 30+ mpg in a RX450h which is also more refined and powerful. My old 01 RX300 used to average around 25 mpg and I averaged 32 mpg in my RX400h - based on those figures I'd estimate an RX450h would achieve around 35 mpg under similar conditions. Motorway journeys are the hybrids weak point, I'd average 27 mpg in the RX300 and only 30 mpg in the 400h.
  15. It's reliability that I've just become accustomed to, I've also had six Toyota's with the same, if not better, reliability. I was quite disappointed in a MB I had for a while. The power steering issue, which would probably cost the price of an extended warranty on it's own to fix, was a manufacturing parts defect that affected the first couple of months of production on the new IS300h - it was a day one fault rather than a failure. The seat issue would probably have cost a lot too, as it was Lexus Guildford damaged the leather during the repair which they never fixed The wiper sensor was an attempt to improve the performance of the auto wipers, I'm not sure it actually made that much difference - that wouldn't have been something I'd replace if it wasn't covered by warranty.
  16. The current specified is the maximum the socket is capable of delivering. A device will only draw what is meant to draw, if you plug a device that requires 1 A into a socket/charger that is capable of delivering 2 A then it the device will only received 1 A. One thing to remember is nearly all these sockets quote the total current across both outputs. So if you plug in two devices at once they may not charge as quickly as you hoped.
  17. very common for websites to be incorrect (including the Lexus used car site) and salesman not to know the full spec. You often find a website automatically pulls through certain specs that are incorrect, or based on pre-facelift information. Always best to try and confirm via the pictures if you can.
  18. I may be missing something but from memory I've had the following issues outside of servicing, tyres, pads, discs etc: 98 GS300 - 2 years - no issues. 99 IS200 - 3 years - my wife's vehicle, no issues other than corroding alloys and two headlight bulbs. 01 GS430 - 3 years - purchased with 3 months left on factory warranty and initially needed new central locking motor, door lock mechanism and windscreen refitted due to wind noise. After the warranty expired I think I have an oxygen sensor go bad which I replaced myself and a normal sticking brake sliding pin which I fixed. 01 RX300 - 5 years - my wife's vehicle. A couple of oxygen sensors go bad which I replaced myself and a normal sticking brake sliding pins which I fixed. One sidelight bulb. 05 RX400h - 5 years - a couple of sticking brake sliding pins which I fixed. 12v battery got weak after 4 years so I replaced before it failed. Rear light cluster started to leak as rubber seal become detached - glued back on myself. Corroding alloys. 13 IS300h - 2 years - new power steering link assembly due to notchy steering feel, new drivers seat base due to movement during braking, new automatic wiper sensor, multiple firmware upgrades on infotainment system - all performed under factory warranty.
  19. All grades are well documented, there are no end of run bits. On facelift models the base SE grade has a 6 CD changer, all other grades get an upgraded audio system which has single disc DVD player.
  20. Have you looked at the equipment spec list already linked in this thread and sticky at the top of the RX forum? That states what models have ACC. All the RX450h have snow mode, along with ECO and EV drive modes. This reduced throttle response, alters the traction control and applies more use of the rear electric motor which all help with improved traction in snowy conditions. The facelift models gain a forth drive mode, sport mode for greater throttle response.
  21. I certainly have. My thoughts are most manufacturing issues will show up in the first three years - my IS is coming up for three years old and I'm not sure whether I'll take out an extended warranty.
  22. How is it money saved if the warranty costs £995 on an RX and the claim was £620? Granted you get breakdown cover included but you are still down on the deal. Depending on how bad those leaks were you may have decided not to even go ahead, or pay half the price at an independent.
  23. or a fibre pen http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/abrasive-fibreglass-pencil-kr61r
